Wesenberg is a recognized resort directly on the Woblitzsee, a part of the popular Upper Havel Waterway; in the middle of the nature experience region Mecklenburgische Kleinseenplatte. The town is characterized by countless lakes, which are connected by small canals; a popular vacation destination for all water sports enthusiasts. As the south-eastern gateway to the Müritz National Park, the region is also an ideal starting point for extensive tours by bike or on foot, and the town's landmark is the castle built in the 13th century with the so-called Fangelturm tower, which now houses the tourist information office. Wesenberg offers shopping facilities, restaurants, an open-air swimming pool, boat trips, canoe, boat and bike rental stations. The famous residential town of Neustrelitz and the small town of Mirow with its castle ensemble are both around 10 km away.
