About this property
Villa Victoria: 3.5-room apartment in the historic villa in Nairs, Scuol
Bun di e bainvgnü illa Villa Victoria - So welcome to the bright 3 ½-room flat in Villa Victoria. The house is situated directly on the Inn River and the steady murmur of the river and the silence of nature guarantee a relaxing and restful stay. In the immediate vicinity are 3 mineral springs and the cultural centre Fundaziun Nairs - an artists' house with many art exhibitions on a regular basis. Hikes or bicycle tours can be started directly at the house. The village of Nairs is only 2 minutes by car from Scuol. The Engadin Bad Scuol, the railway station, many restaurants and shopping facilities can be easily reached by bike in 10 minutes or on foot in about 20 to 30 minutes in summer.
In the bright and spacious flat (90 m2) you can enjoy your holidays all around. In the Villa Victoria, steeped in history, you can feel a little like Queen Victoria, but without having to do without modern comforts. All rooms are spacious and bright with a view of the wild romantic garden or the Inn. The open kitchen is equipped with an oven, ceramic hob, fridge with freezer compartment and coffee machine.
The 90 m2 flat is located on the 2nd (top) floor of Villa Victoria. The villa is situated, wildly romantic, directly on the banks of the Inn. The wild landscape of the Lower Engadine fascinates you anew with every view. Away from the hustle and bustle, the holiday flat offers the perfect place to relax or as a start to a hike and is excellent for families as well as guests interested in culture, history and nature.
The venerable Villa Victoria has recently undergone a comprehensive energy renovation in consultation with the Bündner Denkmalschutz. The building's energy needs are now met 100% from renewable sources (primarily geothermal energy). This is entirely in the spirit of sustainable use of scarce natural resources - and also in the spirit of tourism interested in sustainability.
The Villa Victoria (at that time still called Villa Kurhaus) was built in 1874 as a dépendance of the Hotel Kurhaus right next door - by a very well-known Swiss architect who had built just about every palazzo of the Russian nobility in St. Petersburg. The villa was used to accommodate special guests of the hotel - which is saying something, as rows and rows of crowned heads of half of Europe came and went in the hotel next door.
It is rumoured that Queen Victoria also resided here (hence the name Villa Victoria). And that on still full moon nights, the tall figure of John Brown, Queen Victoria's devoted Scottish servant, can still be seen wandering around the villa cutting flowers for his Queen. Well. This is not scientifically proven. What is certain, however, is that today adventure seekers and those looking for recreation, and families too, are welcome at Villa Victoria. And that their children's eyes are more likely to see Villa Victoria as Villa Kunterbunt.
Shopping is available in Scuol, 2 km away, at the Coop, Volg, Denner or in the bakeries and many local shops on the Stradun. Scuol railway station and the valley station of the mountain railways are also a 2-minute drive away.
Enjoy the most beautiful time of the year in Scuol and let yourself be conquered by the unique natural and cultural landscape. Enjoy a leisurely stroll through the old part of the village, relax in the bathing and sauna area or take one of the countless hikes in the Swiss National Park and enjoy the Motta Naluns family skiing area in winter.
Our concierge service is at your disposal the whole time, we will tell you the best excursions, reserve your ski instructor or a discounted entrance to the Bogn Engiadina.
