CHESA KLUCKER - VAL FEX - SILS ENGADINE

The house is warm and comfortable. It is an old farmhouse typical of the Engadine. It is surrounded by 3000 square meters of land, most of which is private and facing south. Built in stone and wood, it comfortably accommodates up to 8 people. The ground floor consists of an entrance, a cloakroom, a large kitchen, a traditional dining room with a large stove (the Stubeofen) and a small living room (small Stube) where to rest or contemplate the landscape. The house also offers on the ground floor a large bedroom with a sunny balcony. Upstairs are 2 further bedrooms, a charming bathroom with a bath / shower and a separate toilet.
At the entrance of the house on your right you have access to a huge shed, "Schopf" where you can store skis, sleds, bikes ... On the left of the entrance a staircase goes down to the lower part of the house. There is a beautiful room with a large south-facing window, with the possiblity to sleep (2 beds),  old cellars and the old barn giving access to the garden. a small bathroom with  seperate toilet and the laundry room (with washing machine and tumble dryer) .
The equipment of the kitchen allows you to find yourself around a table for 4 to 8people. It offers all the equipment to spend a pleasant stay.

There is voluntarily no television but the house allows to stay connected by fiber optics.(Wireless)

The property is not accessible by private car but transport is available upon request. 

The Fex Valley is located 11 km from St. Moritz and 45 km from Chiavenna (Italian border) at 1800 meters above sea level. It is a wonderful natural setting in the Upper Engadine region. True eco-system, this valley is unique, calm and protected, without car or possibility of building. It enjoys an average of 320 days of sunshine a year.
The Klucker house was built more than 400 years ago in Fex Platta on the first plateau of the valley. Former owner Christian Klucker, a famous mountain guide, gave him his name. Since then, it has been known as "Kluckerhaus". In the 1930s the house was acquired by the Cramer family. They have taken care,for 3 generations, to preserve all the authenticity of the place.

At Fex you are in the heart of mountains and larch forests. You enjoy an exceptional panorama, with in front of you the glacier of the valley, the Tremoggia (3441 m of altitude), the Chapütschin (3386 m of altitude), the Marmoré and Muot Ota (respectively 2275 and 2458 m d Altitude). At the bottom of the property winds the "Fexbach" a transparent and turquoise river that
flows through Maria theninto the Inn. Sils is accessible by foot via the path "Schluchtweg" after a walk of about 15/20.

Whether on the 580km (360 miles) of hiking paths strewn over all the mountains or by mountain bike along 400km (250 miles) of fabulous trails: the Upper Engadin offers a superb network of paths and trails amidst an unspoilt Alpine landscape and the inspiring lake plateau. Four flow trails on the Corviglia guarantee a perfect flow. Equally popular among sports enthusiasts are the Upper Engadin lakes; kiting, sailing, windsurfing, stand up paddling – the possibilities are virtually endless. The expanse of the inspiring high-lying valley can be experienced in a particularly striking way on the two 18-hole golf courses in Samedan and Zuoz. And besides the wide range of sporting options, visitors can take advantage of the first-class cultural activities on offer, such as a visit to a museum or to one of the numerous art galleries in the various villages.  


In winter, the ski areas of Corviglia, Corvatsch, Diavolezza and family friendly Zuoz invite ski and snowboard enthusiasts to revel in 350 kilometres (218 miles) of the finest powder snow. Cross-country skiers will find over 220km (137 miles) of perfectly groomed trails in the Upper Engadin and the side valleys. The winter hiking paths and cross-country ski trails on the frozen Upper Engadin lakes are characterised by their light, sunshine and space amidst inspiring Alpine scenery. Those who would like to enjoy the tranquillity and beauty of the snow-covered forests can explore the side valleys of Val Roseg, Val Fex or Val Bever on 150 kilometres (90 miles) of winter hiking paths. Visitors who prefer to have everything in view, meanwhile, will delight in the breathtaking vistas on the panorama hiking trails high above the lakes on Muottas Muragl.  


Families can bask in the Engadin sun during a ride in a horse-drawn carriage into the Val Roseg or Val Fex, or race down the mountainside into the valley on the winding, 4.2km (2.6 mile) long toboggan run on Muottas Muragl.

Sils is a place overflowing with life energy; this can actually be scientifically measured. But why bother when you are anyway guaranteed to fall under the spell of the landscape at first sight?
Writers such as Nietzsche, artists like Beuys, and musicians such as David Bowie drew inspiration from the wonderful open spaces and the magical light here, and each played a considerable role in establishing Sils as the cultural centre of the Engadin. These days – with good reason and not without a sense of pride – both local inhabitants and guests from all over the world describe Sils as a place abounding in life force and natural earth energy. For particularly high values on the Bovis scale – the life force index – have been measured here. Nestling idyllically between Lake Sils and Lake Silvaplana, the village lies at the gateway to the romantic Fex Valley and is the perfect starting point for walks through this wide open, light-flooded valley. In winter, the best way to explore the valley is by taking a ride in a horse-drawn sleigh.
Those for whom the sky’s the limit will find a variety of routes for hiking and mountain-biking tours on Sil’s home mountain, the Furtschellas. Moreover, a trip on Lake Sils on board Europe’s highest-altitude scheduled cruise boat provides particularly spectacular views of the beautiful Alpine scenery.
However, Sils is also the perfect departure point for winter hikes and cross-country ski tours through the wide expanse of the frozen lakes, which trustingly huddle around the Furtschellas. From the Furtschellas, you can get higher still in no time at all – on the Corvatsch, home to the highest summit station in the Eastern Alps (3303m/10,836ft). And from here, 120 kilometres (75 miles) of challenging pistes lead back down into the valley.
