Step back in time at beautiful Brookside Cottages & Resort. The multi-unit resort consists of 13 unique, quaint & simple cottages all built in the 1920's, a spacious 3,250 sq ft main house as well as a separate 1 bedroom apartment all nestled on 5 private acres with 350' Duck Lake frontage and 600' on Mason Creek (a registered trout stream), Brookside is truly a piece of heaven on earth and you are only minutes from downtown Traverse City, Interlochen Arts Academy, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Lake Michigan and area attractions. "The Big House", as it is know to our repeat guests, sleeps 14 people in it's 3,250 square feet with 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Oversized 2 car garage with driveway parking for 2 additional vehicles. Main level layout includes: Queen ensuite bedroom, King bedroom, King bedroom, Queen sleeper sofa in living room,2 full bathrooms, Large entry/mudroom/laundry room. Open concept kitchen/dining/living with cultured stone fireplace. 2 large sliding doors that lead outside to a large deck with propane gas grill & seating. The deck overlooks the pool area. Fully equipped kitchen with stainless steel appliances including electric range, microwave, side by side refrigerator, dishwasher, single cup coffee maker & 12 cup coffee maker, cookware, dishes, cutlery and utensils. Dining nook table seats 4, dining table seats 6, plus 2 counter stools at the breakfast bar and a 2 person "cafe table. The upstairs layout includes a Queen bedroom, a Full over Full bunk bedroom w/pull-out Twin trundle, a Queen sleeper sofa in the living room,1 full bathroom. Kitchen with refrigerator, range, microwave, coffee maker, cookware, dishes, cutlery, and utensils Upstairs dining table seats 5. 50" flat-screen cable TV. Sliding door that leads out to the upper deck w/ seating. Bed linens and bath towels are included. Guests bring beach towels. House is heated and has window AC units. Resort amenities are shared amongst all guests staying on property. Water trampoline, heated in-ground pool, hot tub, playground, horseshoe pits, hammocks, basketball court, fish cleaning house. Guests have free access to kayaks, paddleboats, rowboats & paddleboards during their stay! There is also a newly renovated recreation room with ping pong, pool table, foosball, air hockey, cable tv & wifi.

Great place for a family vacation!

The house was beautiful and very clean. We had everything we needed; plenty of linens, dishes, etc. Andy was always available to answer any questions or help out. We had a great time!

The total package

Perfect spot with three active little ones (4, 7 and 9) - we didn’t want to leave the house! Pool, hot tub, boats, fishing - this spot has it all. And all of the adults had a great time too .. enjoyed the beautiful home w lots of fun happy hours and late night bon fires, plus took little trips downtown to TC and Lake Michigan. Kurt and his staff were all so nice and responsive. Honestly, one of the best vacations ever. Thanks, Kurt!

My Family had Great Time the house was beautiful had everything you could ask for. Even had some firewood so we could enjoy a nice fire with family cooking s’mores! Staff was great!

Great Stay

We had a great stay at this property. It is very spacious, more than the pictures reveal. Worked well for two families. We were skiing at crystal mountain which is about a 25-30 min drive (more if roads are snowy). There were only a few minor incoveniences (e.g. wifi password incorrect), but the owner had texted me shortly after our arrival so it was easy to communicate about any questions. One thing that should be updated in the listing is the game room is not open in the winter. The kitchen is super well-stocked with dishes and cooking gear. The upstairs living room was great for kids to hang out. Overall, a nice property and we had a good time.

Comfortable, Convenient, Clean

This house was just what we needed. It was close to Traverse City and near the wedding venue for my niece. The house was clean and very comfortable and, as we were staying during a pandemic, made us feel safe. The hosts were very accommodating when some of our plans changed and were easily accessible. We were also fortunate to be there at the peak of the fall season and the scenery was breathtaking! A great stay and would totally stay there again.

Beautiful setting, basic cottages

A truly incredible location and available activities without leaving the property. However, our cottage had a few issues: mice and yellow jackets in the walls, no hot pads for the oven, and the toaster needed the handle to be manually held down while toasting. In fairness, we had no issues from the mice other than some gnawing noises in our bedroom wall early one morning, despite having a lot of bread, fruit, and snacks stored in open areas. Our son did get bitten by one of the yellow jackets that made its way into the cottage, but the on-site basketball court quickly distracted him from that. The owners are very responsive, and provided all the information we requested about COVID-19 and traveling with a toddler. The upshot is that the lake is beautiful and full of fish (at least bluegill), the stream is clear and full of frogs, and the sky is full of stars. The cottages are basic, but if you came for the outdoors, that isn't a problem.

Lots of outdoor time!

We had a great time at Brookside cottages! Our family took full use of the paddle boards, kayaks, and paddle boat. We did not swim at the beach as it was a little weedy for our liking, but did use the pool everyday. Our children enjoyed the game room and the adults enjoyed the quiet of the outdoors while they were playing! The cottage was small as expected, but clean and we really only used it to sleep. It's a great location just 30 minutes or less to many Lake Michigan beaches and other tourist towns. Thanks for a memorable time.

Absolutely Wonderful!!!!

This house was PERFECT. And we are PICKY!!! The house was extremely spacious and our four families did not feel cramped together at all. Spotless, everything worked as it should, no maintenance problems at all! My husband is a licensed builder and plumber, and he was impressed! The kitchen has everything you could possibly need, and we are a “Big Fat Greek” family that cooked every day!!! Beds are comfortable, even the pullouts! The linens and towels are all very nice and good quality. Gas fireplace was wonderful for the cool evenings. Beautiful pool right off our deck. We really couldn’t ask for anything better. The house was perfect but Kurt and his boys were even better. They are so kind and helpful. They were around every day to make sure the grounds were as they should be, and that we had all we needed. The beach area is beautiful and the lake is clean and huge!! We had a slight problem with our boat, that we brought up and docked at the resort, and they helped pull out the boat, and had their awesome friend there within an hour, and it was fixed and ready to go!! We could not have done it without them!! And if we sent a text with questions, Kurt answered within minutes! We also walked through several of the cottages and the apartment, and they are all cute and clean. Most all have been updated. Some are a little too rustic for me, but everyone of them was spotless! I would HIGHLY recommend the Brookside Cottages. We will definitely be coming back next year!!!! Thank you Hubschneider family for a wonderful vacation!!!!

Really enjoyed our stay!

We had a blast here! It was great to stay somewhere with so many freebies. The kids loved the water trampoline and we all enjoyed kayaking and paddle boarding. It was also nice to take a dip in the heated pool or hot tub when the lake was a bit chilly and the adults and kids all loved the game room, especially when we had rainy weather. The cottages could use some minor repairs and updating but overall this was a bargain. We also had a lot of rain during our stay so a tv to watch a movie when we were stuck inside would have also been nice.

We had a great time at the property. We stayed in the main house. It was very clean and inviting. We were surprised thet the kitchen so much cookware and dishes. The kids were at the pool and fishing on the dock everyday. We loved having all of the extras available like kayaks, paddle boards, rec room, and playground. The owners were very nice and friendly and available if we needed anything. The location was nice and quiet. Would definitely book this property again.

Ton of fun for the entire family

Kurt and his team manage a wonderful property. Accommodations were clean and as advertised. Our family loved the beach amenities, the rec room and the pool! Kurt and his team were on site every day to ensure there were no issues and that we were having a great experience. We also rented a boat and jet ski from Kurt during our stay. The equipment was in great condition, and at a fair price. Our family had a great time, and will definitely visit again!

Perfect lake vacation in pure Michigan.

The property had all the amenities of pool, kayak, paddle board, water trampoline, playground and more! They even had motor boats for rent on the premises. You don't have to go into town to rent! Kurt was super friendly, answered our questions before and during our stay. Kids loved it. We loved it!

Wonderful place and people!

We can't say enough about what a wonderful time we had at Brookside Cottage. We loved our cottage, fire pit, the kayaks, water trampoline, rec room, pool. I could go on! The property was perfect for the fun and relaxing vacation we were looking for. Kurt and Justin were available to answer all our questions and made our stay wonderful. The location was perfect. We were able to go to the dunes and into Traverse City in just a short drive. I know we will go back and I have already been recommending others to stay at Brookside Cottages. I'm going to miss sitting around the fire pit watching the sun set. It was my favorite part of our vacation.

We fell in love with this property the first time we saw it. It is absolutely beautiful. Originally built in the 1930's, it has a charm all it's own. With the 350 ft. of Duck Lake frontage and the 500 ft. of peaceful Mason Creek bordering the edge of the property, it is truly unique.

This cottage resort reminds you of times gone by, yet has all of today's comforts. 350 ft. of private frontage, water trampoline, raft, 2 docks, boats, swimming pool, basketball court, horseshoes, playground and recreation room. Just a great place to get away from it all.
