Pool closed: we left early.
It brings me no satisfaction to write this review. I'm hoping for a refund instead. We intended to stay three nights and only stayed one night. There were many disappointments and on their own it would not have been enough for us to seek another location but when we discovered the pool was closed we informed the owner of our disappointment and our intent to leave. I realize we live in a Covid-world now, but communication is key. Tell us the pool is closed so we can make an informed decision. The pool is essential for us. Here's the rest of the details: There were ants in the kitchen, the bathroom, and in the bed. The air conditioner was off when we arrived (about 7pm) and it struggled to cool the place. I would have been fine but my husband prefers to sleep in cooler temperatures so we intentionally selected locations with air conditioners. There was no information left for us and the reception was closed. We had to stumble around to find answers like where the pool was (it's several condos down the beach at a restaurant). I finally asked the guard at the gated entrance and he told us about it being at the restaurant and that it was closed. We climbed the retaining wall to see if we could still use it in it's closed condition but it was filthy, both inside and out. It was eerie and felt abandoned. That's when we decided to leave and notified the host. On our way out we saw a man sweeping the steps near the pool so maybe our host reached out to him after we complained but that should be done BEFORE you arrive, not when you express displeasure. I wished it had worked out and we could have avoided the headache of finding another place in the middle of our vacation.
