Located in Salzburgerland, Sankt Margarethen im Lungau is also called the valley town of the top ski resort Katschberg. The town offers several amenities for your daily needs and a fine selection of restaurants.

The famous Katschberg ski resort is THE ski area for a perfect skiing and winter holiday! Situated directly between the states of Salzburg and Carinthia, it offers 80 kilometres of slopes for relaxed and sporty skiing and snowboarding, 17 modern lifts and snow safety thanks to an altitude of 1,170 - 2,220 m. With the neighbouring Grosseck - Speiereck ski area, the small family ski area of Fanningberg and the widely known Obertauern ski area, there are another approximately 250 kilometres of slopes accessible throughout the entire ski area!

Located between the local mountain Aineck and the Grainwald, Sankt Margarethen im Lungau is also an ideal starting point in summer for numerous activities in the Salzburg Lungau region. There are around 60 mountain lakes, such as the Prebersee or the Schlierersee, the Lungau/Katschberg golf club is close to the town centre and the idyllic swimming lake in St. Margarethen im Lungau, the public swimming pools in St. Michael im Lungau, Mauterndorf, Mariapfarr and the BadeInsel in Tamsweg provide the necessary cooling during hot summer days! You can also reach the famous Millstättersee and Weissensee in Carinthia within 30-45 minutes by car. In short, Sankt Margarethen im Lungau is a perfect holiday region for both summer and winter holidays!
