Terrific holiday gite
This was our third visit to Mas Magali and it didn’t disappoint. Remote country location, surrounded by nature for 12 nights was exactly what we were looking for and it didn’t let us down. It was still close enough to everything we wanted to do, local sights, restaurants and visits to vineyards but also had the quiet ambiance only Provence can offer. Thanks to Sue and Jeremy for their welcome and the opportunity to stay at Mas Magali once again.

Wonderful!
After some time visiting busy London and Paris it was very relaxing to visit Provence and the house outside of Paradou. Jeffrey met us in the village as promised and took us to the house. It was perfect! Very quiet and had everything one would need to fix meals. On arriving we found fresh tomatoes, bread, cheese, eggs, fruit, oh and wine, so we were able to make a tomato omelet for dinner without having to go to the store. The bed is very comfortable, plenty of room for clothing, many magazines, tourist info, even cookbooks! Included is a personal directory with local info including restaurants, market days in nearby towns etc. The local Spar grocery store even has the International New York Times! It is centrally located - we made day trips to Mount Ventoux, Camargue, Lourmarin, St Remy (Glanium has to be seen), les Baux, etc - there is so much to see. We plan on coming again to continue our explorations of this wonderful area. Thank you again, Susan and Jeffrey for letting us enjoy your peaceful surroundings.

Provence Farmhouse...Awesome!
My husband and I along with his brother and wife spent 5 days at the Provence Farmhouse. We had a blowout tire close to arriving, didn't know what to do so phoned the Dawsons and they were incredibly helpful. And they also shared ideas of so many places to visit in the area. House was air conditioned which was appreciated as the temps were in the 90s. This is a must stay! Also beautiful grounds! And the location to travel to St. Remy and Arles is perfect!

An Enchanting Holiday Let
We all enjoyed our stay. Jeremy and Sue are the ideal hosts, friendly , caring and helpful. Paradou is an ideal place to explore all the beautiful villages and towns that are in this area. The cottage would take some finding, if not for Jeremy meeting us in Paradou! However if you love peace and quiet , and beautiful surroundings this is an ideal location - even though the roads are a bit bumpy to reach it. The wifi is not very good - but the bonus is it stops the work emails! The local resturant in Paradou 'Le Bistro du Paradou' is an absolute must. Wonderful rustic food, great service and excellent value for money. Thank you for a lovely stay and truly wonderful experience .

Fantastic week's holiday in Paradou
If you're looking for a taste of the real Provence then this accommodation is the place for you. We, my husband and adult son, were guided to the property by our host Jeremy as it is well off the main road and a distance down a narrow track. So far so good. We arrived at the Mas to be met by Sue and both she and Jeremy went out of their way to welcome us to their house. Not only was the accommodation comfortable and typical of the farmhouses of this area, it also had many of the benefits of modern living. Ok, the WiFi wasn't 100% but that wasn't why we were there. If you want high tech go somewhere else but the the ambience of the place, the birds, Provencal nature at its best and the privacy offered make this a wonderful base for a relaxing holiday. It was sublime to wake up to the sound of nightingales and serins in the warmth of a Provencal morning. Weather was fantastic which always helps. Sue had provided some welcoming extras; marmalade (delicious, home made I think), milk, coffee, fruit and of course the much appreciated wine to go with our first evening's meal. Sue had thoughtfully provided a lasagna for our dinner knowing we would need something substantial after travelling from the northern French coast in one day. It was very much appreciated. By the end of our week we felt like we had made new friends. There's no doubt in our minds that next time we are visiting Provence for bird watching, visiting vinyards, or the wonderful towns in the area, this will be the place that we'll come back to. Many thanks Sue and Jeremy for making our holiday a great one.

Great short stay in Paradou
This was perfect for our young family. The farm is secluded and quiet, and safe for our daughter to explore on her own. There is a horse that grazes in a nearby field that provided endless entertainment for our daughter when we weren't out exploring. Location is great and near many of the attractions in Provence. We took day trips to Arles, the Luberon, and Aix during our four day stay. Hosts Sue and Jeremy are very sweet and had some basic food staples (including wine) ready for us on arrival. Thank you both!

Serenity in Provence
My husband and I recently returned from a beautiful week long stay at Mas Migali ( east wing farmhouse). Our goal was to live as a local while in Provence and have a sense of community as well as a hub for daily excursions. This was the perfect place for us. The two story apartment was more like a cozy home than an apartment. It is surrounded by pastures and serenity! Susan and Jeremy are gracious hosts and made us feel welcome and we're extremely helpful. ( FYI: for the non French speaking guests, no worries as Susan and Jeremy speak perfect English because they are British and a lovely couple). We brought with us an international GPS which was a "life saver" so to speak as this peaceful property is remote and it does take a bit of practice to find. No need to worry though about initially finding the farmhouse as Susan and Jeremy met us in Paradou and we followed them.😀 I cooked dinner every night and loved the kitchen, it is very well equipped. There also is a charcoal grill outside the sunroom which we used almost every night. The beds were very comfortable; the air conditioning was wonderful; having upstairs and downstairs bathrooms were really convenient); grocery shopping in a nearby village was fun and well stocked with all the neccecities/a little bit of everything. Open air markets rotate from village to village and we truly enjoyed buying what we needed and some souvenirs to take home as well. We highly recommend this lovely home.... we hope to return!

A bit of heaven in Provence!
The review prior to ours says a lot of what we felt after staying here! It was exactly what we needed after a very long trip. This was our first place to stay in a month long visit to a variety of areas in France. The site was completely secluded and absolutely beautiful. The garden is something out of a magazine, with heaps of lovely lavender. Our nine year old son was smitten by Diablo, the horse and Toby, the giant St. Bernard. He also thoroughly enjoyed the large pool on some very warm days! The gite is very well equipped. Since we were arriving after a long journey, we asked Susan if she could stock us up on a few basics before we arrived, and we could pay her back. She was so kind to get us our first nights dinner, along with some bread, yummy locally made orange marmalade, eggs, fruit and wine! Thank you Susan :) It was very nice to have a half bath downstairs. The wifi was super fast and reliable, although we didn't use it much, it was nice to have when needed. It was great to have a washer and dryer on site as well. What is wonderful, is how close you are to many, many different sites to see in Provence. We were completely happy with our stay.

Exactly what we'd hoped for
For our three-week stay in the Bouche-do-Rhone (Mouth of the Rhone) region of Provence in southern France, we'd wanted a retreat that would give us both a peaceful environment to come home to at the end of the day. We'd wanted country, natural beauty, a place to swim, a place to walk right from our front door. We got just that. This is a two-story apartment at the end of a renovated barn. The couple who own the property live in the main section and at each end of the building is a separate living space. We never saw the other party, so we felt we were alone in the peaceful countryside -- perfect for us. Our main companion was a lovely old horse grazing in a field. This unit had everything we could have wanted -- a comfortable king bed in an air conditioned master bedroom; a second bedroom with two single beds, which we used as a dressing room; a fully equipped Provence-style kitchen with a large old table; a separate living area great for reading at night; a full bath upstairs and a half-bath downstairs. The hosts were extremely gracious and, indeed, helped us figure out some destinations that we might have missed otherwise. This country property comes fully equipped with wonderful country lanes for casual walking, and even with a few gentle hikes in some of the ancient hills, for a bit of a challenge. The road up to the property is not paved in some areas and can be rather bumpy, particularly after a rain when the potholes tend to widen. We love this, as it added to our sense of quietude. But if you're not used to country living, you might have a different opinion. All in all, a completely delightful place that we would highly recommend.

Beautiful, private, relaxing retreat
This location was recommended to us by my son and his wife who stayed there two years ago, in July, with their two small children. I booked it for the last week in April for four; myself, my two sisters and my niece. The Wisteria vine hanging over the entrance was in full bloom when we arrived, giving us a beautiful welcome. Our hosts were helpful and made certain we had everything we needed. They were so thoughtful to anticipate our needs above our expectations. We enjoyed eating some of our meals sitting at the harvest kitchen table. The beds were comfortable the shower and the bathtub were great! The kitchen was well equipped. The gas stove was modern and worked well. Everything was very clean and functional. This is a beautiful pastoral setting. The central location within Provence was excellent for accessing the many beautiful and interesting features of the area. We had a rental car and enjoyed day trips to Avignon, Les Baux, Stes Maries de La Mere and the Camargue, the Calanques and Cassis, Arles and Chateauneuf de Pape. Despite proximity to many sites, the location is very private. At first it felt a bit remote. However, we soon got used to the long narrow, bamboo lined driveway that wound through the farm fields. We had excellent spring weather and particularly appreciated the deep blue sky created by the Mistral wind. We all loved staying here. It was perfect for us.

Heart of Provence with sweet hosts off the beaten path
Our family of four had a wonderful 6-day stay at Mas Magali courtesy of Jeremy and Sue. The farmhouse-style apartment is clean and modernized, but maintains Provençal touches in the materials and decor. Huge bonus was the A/C as it was wickedly hot even by Provence standards, and nice to have screens in the windows for fresh air at night with no bugs. Beds were very comfortable, and Sue provided several options on linens, which was thoughtful. Though attached to the main house, the unit retains a great deal of privacy with its side-orientation and territorial views. Jeremy and Sue were available but not hovering, which was great. They lent us a cooler to use for our market excursions, and were willing to help with anything that would make our stay more enjoyable. The pool was large and clean, though with no true "shallow end" as you might be accustomed to in an American-style pool - it was probably around 48" if that matters for the beginning swimmers in your clan. There were plenty of lounge chairs and such to move around at your whim. We were there during a particularly hot spell, so we didn't sunbathe so much as take swims to cool off. The location *was* in many ways ideal for our road trips, since we had good access to St Remy, Les Baux, Luberon hill towns, Aix, Arles...an easy day trip to the sea (Cassis/Marseille) and back... We could get just about anywhere we wanted in Provence "proper" within 60-75 minutes max. Renters should realize going in, however, that while the village of Paradou is picturesque and charming, it is truly low on amenities. The town is also not conveniently walkable from the rental, which is even more rural, though you could certainly fetch your daily croissant by bike. The adjacent town of Mausanne-les-Alpilles (just 10 minutes by car) proved the place to go for lunches and dinners, and we did eat very well there on a reasonable budget (and with two small kids, who were nicely accommodated without compromising our selections). Really great wine in the area and a dozen places offering nice fresh local "high end rustic" cooking. Like a mellower St Remy. Thanks Jeremy and Sue for a fun experience! We made some wonderful memories with the kids at your property, and wish you the very best.

As British doctors , having always been in love with France , we set up a general practice in the village of Paradou 29 years ago , while bringing up our five children in the local schools.

Why they chose this property

Mas Magali is unique in that it is completely peaceful and rural but only five minutes from the bustling village of Maussane Les Alpiles and the quieter village of Paradou .

What makes this property unique

We are so near the historic towns of Arles , Avignon, Nimes , Marseille and Aix en Provence . The Mediterranean and the hillside villages of the Luberon are both an easy drive away .
