Come and stay at the Knotty Lodge in Glacier, a one of a kind rustic mountain retreat, with luxury amenities, custom built by NW Reclaimed
As you walk in you are immediately greeted by huge 8x8' rough sawn exposed timbers that come from an old illinois barn, built in 1898. A pleasant mix of barn beams, reclaimed wood walls and sleek drywall creates an extremely cozy and inviting space. Looking across the expansive white granite kitchen counter, a giant stacked stone wood burning fireplace with a 55' flatscreen takes center stage in the main room. Custom wood floors in living areas, slate in kitchen and lower bath, and plush carpet in the bedrooms. Main floor features a queen sized bedroom and main bath with large walk in shower and laundry closet. 2 queen bedrooms upstairs are separated by a large bathroom done in travertine. Double sinks on a custom made walnut slab vanity, glass frame walk in shower with double shower heads and exposed wood beams create a spa like atmosphere. Large upstairs loft area with cozy sectional couches overlooks the living area with the fireplace and hand made antler chandelier.
Our place was designed and built in an eco friendly manner, with our guests ultimate comfort in mind. For this reason we went with all energy star rated appliances and lighting, high grade wood windows, premium insulation, and no voc paints and finishes. Our top of the line trane heating system is amended by a 99.9% HEPA filter and an HRV unit that constantly circulates air through the home to maintain clean and fresh air.
Landscaping around the home was done using all native rock that was excavated during construction. Hot tub, fire pit and storage shed in private backyard setting surrounded by tall trees. Sunny front patio is a perfect place to enjoy an afternoon drink while taking in the view of slide mountain.

We are the Mundis, more specifically Csaba and Rosemary and our little boy, Baxton:) Rosemary works a physical therapist in Blaine and Csaba is a contractor/reclaimed wood fanatic working all over the place.
We grew up in Whatcom County and have been a huge fan of the mountains and snowboarding for all our lives. Ever since we first met in 2006 we both agreed that we wanted a place in beautiful Glacier WA. We got married in 2012 and decided to build our first dream home all at the same time. The foundation for the knotty lodge, was poured on the day of our wedding. -talk about crazy :)
We love meeting new people from all around and sharing a slice of the mountain lifestyle with each and every guest we welcome at the Knotty Lodge.

Why they chose this property
Csaba rescued an old barn from Illinois that was built in 1898, knowing that he wanted to build a reclaimed timber home using all the wood he had salvaged. Two years later we acquired our beautiful southern facing lot in the glacier springs community. We had been looking for years at this awesome little neighborhood near Mt. Baker with a laid back lifestyle and the best water in the state.
After we bought the property, we designed the home around the timbers Csaba had salvaged, and built it ourselves with the help of our great friends and family. Our appreciation for using reclaimed and eco friendly materials is evident throughout the home from the native stone fireplace to the hand made barn wood furnishings.
The Knotty Lodge has become a much appreciated get-away destination for many guests since we entered the vacation rental market in Dec 2013

Enjoy the feel of a historic 115 year old barn frame resurrected into a beautiful home, top of the line finishes through out, and user friendliness of a modern home are just few perks our property offers. Not having any immediate neighbors makes it a very private and peaceful place. Unwind from the busy city life, or a long day on the slopes in the brand new hot tub, or sip a glass of wine in front of the Rumford fire place.
