About this property

The Artist's Garden, Charming 2BR Casita And Studio

Welcome to the “Artist’s Garden” – “El Jardin de la Artista.” Our studio and casita guest house is a relaxing nature sanctuary located in the cooler hillside outside of Managua. The studio is comprised of a spacious terrace and living area, a brand new kitchen & 2BD casita. It accommodates up to 4 guests.

The Artist’s Garden is an escape to paradise with an ideal mountain climate and tropical environment especially designed for lovers of both the arts and nature. Lush gardens surround the main structure which is a large, open artist studio, featuring the living room, eat-in bar, kitchen, dining area and a spacious outdoor terrace, a perfect place to entertain or simply relax and enjoy the perfect temperatures and breezes. Immediately adjacent to the studio you will find the 'casita' with two cozy bedrooms and a bathroom. The rooms can be outfitted to fit 4 people with an option to have two twin beds or one king bed in each room.

We have a minimum 3 night stay. We guarantee that you will not want to stay less than 3 nights!

There is a charge of $20 per additional guest per night, when more than two guests.

The artist's studio is located in a residential area, in what's referred to as Carretera Sur. It sits on a property that features two other houses, yet its location and design will give you plenty of privacy and you will feel as you have the whole garden to yourself. All three houses are owned and managed by us.

The center of Managua is 15-20 minutes away. This is a great location if you want to enjoy nature and you are making your way to the various destinations in Nicaragua.

Carretera Sur is the Panamarican highway, so you will be situated already on the highway that takes you to most beaches in the Pacific (San Juan del Sur, Tola, Majagual, Iguana, etc) and also Ometepe. It also has easy access to the white towns and other departments (Carazo, Rivas, Masaya, Granada). PLEASE NOTE THE VRBO MAP is INCORRECT, WE ARE ON KM 13.2, BETWEEN MONTE TABOR AND INCAE. 15 MINUTES from Managua.

At your request, we can arrange for maid service, which can be provided at an extra fee. The maid service may include cooking breakfast, ironing, washing and drying or babysitting. Do let us know your requests and we will try to make everything possible for you to have a nice stay.

The house is in a safe and quite area and the property is all fenced in. We will be happy to arrange for an airport pick up and can make arrangements for you to have access to a car and driver.

Amazing stay, as always!

This is our third stay at The Artist's Garden. It's been two years since our last stay and every detail at The Artist's Garden is just as pristine as it was two years ago. We love seeing all of María Reneé's beautiful and unique paintings and art work all around the property. Gerardo and his family are outstanding hosts (as always) that respect their guests' privacy. They live on site and are always available to help in any way they could. The location of the property is perfect if you want to take day trips to any one of the beautiful beaches that Nicaragua has to offer. During our stay, we went to three different beaches and because of the location of The Artist's Garden, we were able to skip the traffic of going through the city and easily start our day trip on the Pan-American Highway. Nicaragua is a beautiful country and has so much to see and do, please do yourself a favor and make your time in Nicaragua even better by staying at The Artist's Garden. We can not recommend this place enough!! Thank you Gerardo & María Reneé for hosting us time and time again. We had a fabulous time in Nicaragua and our stay at The Artist's Garden made it even better.

Beautiful and makes you feel at home!

Artists Garden is just as advertised, location is easy to find and safe and secure. Your host are very gracious people and will do anything necessary to accommodate your needs. The only complaint I've had is truck noise from Pan American highway which runs in front of compound but I've gotten used to it and wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Love the place

Mr and Mrs Peralta were very welcoming from day one. The place is quiet and away from all the craziness of the capital, yet, it is only 10 minutes away from the capital if you like to have a good time in Managua. Kitchen is spacious and with enough supplies to make your own meals, there are a few places around there to buy your groceries. The people who maintain the place are very friendly and they always help you with a smile. Thank you Mr. and Mrs Peralta for everything.

Beautiful Place

Your casita is ensconced in a forest of orchids, ferns, palms and fruit trees. Modern and ancient art catch your eye everywhere you look. It is like a dream day and night. The property's location is easily accessible, but the rental casita is quite far back from the highway so as to almost entirely obscure any noise or sight of it. All the amenities are top quality. The casitas, and entire property are kept immaculately clean and cool even in the hot and dry season. Cannot recommend this property highly enough nos encanta.

Our second stay at The Artist's Garden.

This was our second stay at The Artist's Garden with Gerardo & Maria Renee. If you read my first review - it is easy to see why we chose to rent this property again. We stayed for two weeks this time and really enjoyed our stay even more. We weren't in as much of a rush to explore Nicaragua this time, that we were able to really relax and explore the property itself. Within the property you can see so many different plant life (fruit trees, flowers, bamboo, etc) and beautiful art sculptures. You can see that their property is very well maintained and you can see the love that was put into every precise detail on the property. We rented a car & driver through Gerardo & Maria Renee but we enjoy walking as well so we walked a lot around the area. There is a lot within walking distance. We walked to the big grocery store a few times. There's also a convenience store right up the hill where you can find your basic needs. We walked to two italian restaurants - Casa Mia & Chik Chak which is also down the hill from the property and we've taken TukTuk rides back to the property after eating or after buying groceries. We've walked up hill to a beautiful display of fruit stands to buy fresh fruits, which we used to make smoothies in the mornings. I just can't say enough good things about this property and the services & hospitality provided by Maria Renee, Gerardo & their staff. The beautiful property & hospitality provided makes this place BETTER than any five star hotel. Gerardo is very knowledgable of Nicaragua and can give you a lot of guidance on where to go and what to do while you are in Nicaragua. As I've said before, Gerardo & Maria Renee are incredible hosts. They will go above and beyond to meet your needs. Since we were able to stay longer this time - we got the opportunity to get to know the Peralta family even better. They are an incredible family. They are generous, kind, trustworthy and loving. We travel with a toddler so we don't think about partying or having a date night when traveling but we were able to enjoy a date night out in Nicaragua because the Peralta family was so incredibly kind to watch our son for us. As a mom - It is hard for me pass that responsibility onto another person because I am constantly worried about the safety of my child but that is just how much we trust the Peralta family. Thank you Gerardo & Maria Renee and your family for making our time in Nicaragua so memorable!!

Hidden Gem -- The pictures doesn't do this place justice!

This property exceeded all of my family's expectations. No words can describe how beautiful this rental property is. The owners, Gerardo & Maria Renee, are nothing short of spectacular. From the first email I sent about the property to our very last conversation, it was ALWAYS pleasant. They went above and beyond for us. I told them what time we were getting in & that we needed a crib for our young son. When we arrived, they were waiting for us at the airport. They brought us to their property and the crib was already set up and waiting for our son. The property is gorgeous. You can see how much love was put into the property when you spot all the little personal touches. (i.e. the red gates, the beautiful tile work, the art sculptures, the plant life, the decor, the furniture and so much more). The living quarters were perfectly put together. The best part is that the kitchen & living room is in one building & the two bedrooms and bathroom is in a separate building. For a family with a child that sleeps early, it is the perfect set up. When your little one goes to sleep, you can hang out, kick back and relax in a separate building without worrying about waking up your little one(s) but still be comfortable knowing that they are well because the buildings are very close together and you will always have an eye on the sleeping quarters. This was a, last minute, spur of the moment trip for my family. We did not plan months in advance and we didn't look too much into what it would be like. we just saw this beautiful property and beautiful pictures of nicaragua and decided to go. Gerardo & Maria Renee allowed us to use their personal driver for 4 full day for a additional fee (Great deal, if you ask me!). Ramero (the driver) was very friendly and took us all around. Their staff was always friendly. There are grocery stores, pharmacies, and restaurants conveniently located. As you read in other reviews they property is located off of a major road so there is some noise but it didn't bother us any. Our two year old son slept right through it. After a long day, full of adventure in beautiful Nicaragua, I think you can sleep through anything. I honestly can not say enough good things about the property or the owners Gerardo & Maria Renee. Outstanding service really plays a major role in the outcome of your vacation, and we had one of the best (mini) vacations ever. I HIGHLY recommend this property.

Awesome place! had everything, two rooms beautiful patio and big kitchen and dinning area

We spent three nights here, if was really comfortable and nice! We felt quite secluded in the lush garden this property has. It is around 800 mts from the nearest supermarket and its around 7 kms from the city. It took us 15 minutes to get to Managua center from here, therefore it was ok. This property is 300 mts above sea level, it is around 5 degrees F cooler up there. Once you are there you can read books, watch DVD's and also take advantage of some hot wifi!

THE PERFECT PLACE TO BE

We stayed here for a little over a week and it was an amazing experience. The Owners and family were extremely friendly and helpful with finding great local spots to go to. The house itself is a piece of art, with all the gorgeous paintings drawings and sculptures that were done by the owners wife. I highly recommend that anyone who is looking for a place to stay in Nicaragua, to stay here.

Artist's Garden

An amazing place just outside Managua. The owners were very helpful and the place very clean. All necessary equipment was supplied including a washing machine and there was a great supermarket within walking distance. The breeze made the climate just right and the gardens were beautiful. The only reason I have given it 4 stars and not 5 is the noise from the road from occasional trucks coming up the hill.

A Beautiful Escape in Managua

My girlfriend and I stayed here in Feb 2015, and I cannot begin to explain how amazing it was. Gerardo and his son Edwardo picked us up from the airport and ferried us back to his wonderful estate. Our bedrooms were clean and well appointed with an excellent air conditioner. The kitchen and living room were excellent, with plenty of kitchen equipment and a washing machine. The doors and windows slide open in the living room for excellent views of the beautiful garden. Lots of fresh air and the breeze kept it very pleasant. Gerardo, Maria Renee and Edwardo went above and beyond to help us with our stay! The casita is located in a suburb of Managaua which is very safe and easy to walk around. There are a few excellent restaurants within Walking distance as well as a well appointed grocery store. The whole excellence was fantastic from the beginning to the end. Gerardo and his family helped make the experience and we will for sure return if we are ever in Managua again. Only suggestion is some ear plugs if you are a light sleeper, as occasionally there are some loud semi trucks on the highway near by.

Our family has lived in this compound through the decades and now we are opening our home to receive guests from abroad. We love to entertain and welcome visitors.

Maria Renee is an artist and you will see all her work throughout our property. Her style is vibrant, rich in color and symbolism. Following her art, Maria Renee is extremely passionate about her garden, which will embrace you and captivate your senses once you stay in one of our properties.

Gerardo has spent decades in management and academics and now devotes most of his time to graduate teaching and consulting projects.

Both were born and raised in Nicaragua and love to travel, and agree that there is nothing like being home.

Why they chose this property

If you love nature, open spaces, ideal temperatures and want to get away from the hustle and bustle in Managua, you will enjoy the studio and the artist's garden, where you will be able to watch birds every morning and enjoy quiet sunsets.

What makes this property unique

You will enjoy cooler temperatures than in Managua, as Carretera Sur is higher in altitude.

We are in a very quiet and safe neighborhood.
