About this property

Beach Block Shipyard Plantation, Lagoon View, PickleBall, Pools Pavilion, Grills

Located in Brigantine Quarters, a Shipyard Resort of Distinction, Unit #264 is a recently refurbished and professionally appointed 2 bedroom, 2 bath villa with a large rear balcony overlooking a lagoon with expansive water/ nature/ golf views. The balcony over the lagoon feels like a front row seat to your own semi-private wildlife sanctuary and has been a truly unique and special place for my family over the last 25 years - perfect for morning coffee/ meditations, bird/turtle/alligator watching, after beach/ pool lunches, homemade dinners, and late nights having a few drinks or playing board/ card games. The master suite includes a king-size bed, TV, bay window overlooking the lagoon, and large en-suite master bathroom - jacuzzi tub, separate walk-in shower, and 'his' & 'her' sinks. The second bedroom includes (2) twin beds, TV, private door access to the second full bathroom (tub/shower), and private sliding door access to the rear balcony overlooking the lagoon. The living room sofa has a pull-out bed.
This spacious unit sleeps (6) comfortably and is equipped with central HVAC, washer/dryer, dishwasher, oven/stove, full sized refrigerator, WiFi/cable TV, and fresh towels/ linens.

Perhaps the most unique, exclusive, and desirable feature of Brigantine Quarters' units, is it's private "back door" access to the beach and Colginy Plaza. A few steps from the unit, the secure gate is 2 blocks/short walk to the beach and short bike ride/ long walk to shops, restaurants, entertainment, and supermarket at Coligny Plaza.

Brigantine Quarters also offers (2) private pools (1 recently renovated - child-friendly pool, 1 heated pool, chaise lounge chairs, tables, umbrellas, poolside restrooms), (2) private pickle ball/ tennis courts, multiple barbeques, picnic tables, and private playground.

Shipyard offers a 27 hole championship golf course (not included in rental), access to the Van De Meer Tennis Academy, and miles of winding paved bike baths.

From the main gates of Shipyard to the front door of unit #264, all scenery is picturesque and maintained to best-in-class resort standards.

As teachers with summers off, my wife, 3 kids, and I would enjoy 6-10 consecutive weeks each summer in the unit comfortably. Our kids are now grown, our trips to HHI have become infrequent, and we are thrilled to share what is truly a "hidden gem" on the island.

Always enjoyable

Great stay! New gate code was tricky at first, but once the handle was changed, we were able to adapt! More convenient than the key.

Great Location, but not clean.

Overall enjoyed the stay, but the unit was not cleaned very well and there were bugs. Had ants and killed 2 roaches in the kitchen. One was in the silverware drawer. Also it appeared many of the dishes hadn't been cleaned in a while. Had to pre-was some before use. Also secondary bathroom had a consistent urine odor. Unit definitely needs a deep clean and treated for pests.

Great, relaxing week of Memorial Day vacation.

BQ is in a quiet location. Private access gate to beach and bike trail to Coligny is super convenient. Great veiw across large lagoon where we watched alligators. Condo was in great shape. Only negative was reconstruction of the secondary pool house, it wasn't noisy, just distracting.

Nice but older property

The location and view were lovely. The place was very clean. We enjoyed our stay there. On the other hand, we were not fond of the alligator being so close. And we had a bug problem throughout and the person who came to spray the place showed us a large hole in the kitchen over the stove under the cabinet which had been reported before but no action had been taken to fill it and reduce the bug problems.

Great Condo in a GREAT Location

Stayed the week with my wife and children (2 & 14) and we loved it. My little one was glued to the window looking at the birds and the gator in the lagoon located right out the back door. My son enjoyed fishing in the lagoon located right outside his bedroom and the many located throughout Shipyard Plantation. Private beach access gate was very nice. Bicycle rack was located right outside our unit. Renting bikes is a must if you go to HHI. Coligny Circle and its wonderful shops is just a 5 minute bike ride away. Wonderful week!

Clean, well equipped and comfortable!

We had a wonderful week during our stay. We have stayed at several units in Brigantine Quarters and love that we are able to walk to the beach each day, can bike rides on the golf paths in the evening and are able to relax watching the birds and gators around the lagoon. This condo was very clean, well equipped and very comfortable for us.

Great owners! Just a 3-minute walk to the beach.

Bonnie and Tom responded very quickly to all our questions and even offered advice to help us with specific circumstances of our family. We enjoyed our time at BQ264. Morning shade on the back deck was great for having a morning beverage and watching the resident alligator in the pond a few short yards away.

Relaxing resort on Hilton Head Island

We had a wonderful stay. Unit had a beautiful view of the lake. It was only a 2 block bike ride/walk to the beach. Brigantine Quarters is quiet, clean, and has all the amenities of home. Have stayed in numerous condos on Hilton Head Island and Brigantine will be my go to for future visits.

Very quiet and family oriented!

Condo was very nice, well kept, and open layout. The porch out back was a welcomed reprieve from the heat of the beach. The beach was only a 7 minute walk and was beautiful, not crowded at all. It was nice to have a washer and dryer in the unit. The two pools were clean and enjoyable and though we didn't use the bike trails this time, we might on our next visit!

Very nice, close to beach and pool!!!! awesome!!!

The condo was very well kept. The location of this complex is key. The location of the particular condo is near the back of the complex, which is close to two pools and the private beach access. We had a very nice time! Thanks!!!!

We really enjoy staying at Brigantine Quarters. Great location. Easy walking distance to the beach & Coligny. Plenty of bike trails starting right outside your door. The units are very nice inside having a recent update.

About the host

Host profile image
As former New Jersey Public School teachers with long summer breaks, my wife and I would vacation with our three children (boy, boy, girl - 2 yrs apart each) for multiple weeks every summer, primarily by car. We explored every state up and down the East Coast, and fell in love with Hilton Head Island the moment we arrived on a whim in the early 90's. The Island was and still is absolutely beautiful. There are no in-your-face beach apparel stores on every corner with strict development codes to maintain the islands natural beauty with a focus on the environment and wildlife preservation throughout. The beaches are enormous and perfectly manicured (top 10 beach destination in the United States). The is and always has been a friendly laid-back vibe across the island. Hilton Head is family focused through and through. World class golf (30 course on the island and 39 within 20 miles). Endless bike paths (60+ miles). The list goes on and on... Hilton Head Island is such an amazing place which appeals to the masses, and has most certainly appealed to our family.

After our first stay, we knew Hilton Head Island was THE place we wanted to return to every summer. After touring every square inch of the island... every condo complex, every neighborhood (private, public, on island, off island), every townhouse, homes, lots, you name it, we were dragged an agent to investigate... we found Brigantine Quarters. It was, and always has been, too good to be true.

Year after year, we would spend 6-10 consecutive weeks each summer in our unit comfortably. 1,000's of hours on the beach, 1,000's of miles on our bikes, countless rounds of golf and games of tennis, 100's of home cooked meals in the unit and dinners on the balcony overlooking our lagoon and our wildlife friends, so many laughs, and life-long memories.

Our kids are now grown, our trips to HHI have become infrequent, and we are thrilled to share our unit, which is is truly a "hidden gem" on the island, with you.

Why they chose this property

The Villa has always felt like our own semi-private wildlife sanctuary on the lagoon. The Brigantine Quarters neighborhood is in a secluded area of Shipyard, an enclave of units tucked into a beautifully manicured corner of Shipyard. We shopped for years on Hilton Head Island, touring every condo / villa community on the island, and this is the only neighborhood located within a Plantation that offers a private gate within a short walk to the beach. The Brigantine Quarters gate also offers access to the best collection of shops, restaurants, entertainment, and a Supermarket within a long walk/ short bike ride (60+ restaurants / shops). There's two pools (one completely renovated / heated with public restrooms, including a shallow end for the little ones), chaise lounges, 2 tennis courts/ pickle ball courts, grills, a play area, grills, picnic benches, and pools.

What makes this property unique

Location, location, serene wildlife views, location, 2 pools, location, one-of-a-kind secure gate access blocks from the beach, location, short bike ride to Coligny Plaza, private tennis / pickle ball courts, location... did I mention location : ) ...?

A typical day for our family consisted of:
- Early Morning: coffee, tea, and breakfast on the balcony watching and listening to birds and looking for turtles
- After Breakfast:
-Walk or bike to the beach and spend a few hours playing games, reading, going in the water, biking on the beach.
-OR, head to a golf course (30 courses on Hilton Head Island and 39 additional within 20 miles of Hilton Head Island)
-OR, jump on the beach cruisers and explore the island for a few hours
-OR, play tennis or pickle ball on the private court
-Lunch:
-After the beach, biking, golfing, and / or tennis, we would head back to the Villa for some lunch from the kitchen table observing wildlife through the large bay window or on the balcony. OR ride the beach cruisers directly to Coligny Plaza for Lunch and Shopping at the 60+ shops / restaurants. OR grab fixings for BBQ from the Villa and head to the Brigantine Quarters grills.
-Mid-Afternoon:
-Relax by one of the two pools, head back to the beach, or continue the afternoon out at Coligny Plaza
-Dinner:
-Another meal and another opportunity to cook-in and dine in front of wildlife on the rear balcony.
-Grab dinner at a restaurant Coligny Plaza or one of the 250+ restaurants on Hilton Head Island.
-BBQ steaks, burgers, chicken, veggies, fish, crab legs, or anything else we picked up at the Piggly Wiggly supermarket at Coligny Plaza earlier in the day.
-After Dinner:
-Board games, music, a few drinks on the balcony enjoying the lagoon sounds and views as the evening winds down.
-Head to The Jazz Corner for world class live jazz, cocktails, and deserts.
-Watch a movie as a family
Restful sleep for more fun the next day!
