Lovely “ Loco’s Lodge “

A deceptively spacious Gite which sits in beautiful quiet surroundings , only a short drive from Eymet and other pretty towns & villages. Super facilities for ourselves and our two Goldies ! This was a comfortable , well equipped Gite and the lovely Mitch …..the owner, was around to ensure if we needed anything we only had to ask. Lovely pool which Mitch cleaned daily . Plenty of room for our dogs to play and explore too. We have enjoyed 2 weeks of fabulous weather , just relaxing by the pool and enjoying eating our meals watching the sunset over the fields of sunflowers 🌻 No need to venture out as all you need is here , plenty of places to visit & activities if you do . This holiday has been one of our favourites and we would highly recommend “ Loco’s Lodge “ See you soon Mitch 😊🐾🐾

perfect holiday

We had a fabulous time in St Colomb de Lauzun. The lodge was beautiful, the pool very clean, the surroundings magical. Mitch, our host, was the most friendly, helpsome person with a big heart for her guests. We could not have had a better vacation!

Wonderful stay at loco’s lodge

We had a wonderful 6 weeks at Loco’s Lodge this summer. The pictures on line don’t do it justice. It’s so very peaceful and quiet. Hardly any traffic, so very pleasant to walk or cycle. The villages of Lauzun, 10 mins drive, and Eymet, around 15 mins are really nice and have weekly markets and restaurants. Mitch, the landlady lives next door, but she is very discreet, hardly know she’s there unless you need her to be. She left us a lovely welcome pack with all the essentials, as well as several bottles of wine! We swam in the pool every day, which is spotlessly clean. Our dogs were also made very welcome. We will be back! Thanks again Mitch!

Vacances tranquilles

Rural Location

We had a fabulous couple of weeks here, very quiet and private with enough to do locally within a 15 minute drive. Mitch, the owner was welcoming and helpful and kept the pool spotlessly clean.

Everything we had hoped for....

We spent two wonderful weeks at Loco's Lodge this September. We felt at home the moment we walked in - enhanced by Mitch's welcome package complete with flowers. food essentials and local wine! The gite is well laid out with everything on one floor, and the three terrace options were perfect for different times of the day - usually ending up with an evening glass of wine, enjoying the fabulous view of the valley. Mitch is the perfect host - always there when you need something, but otherwise leaving you to enjoy the peace and quiet. We couldn't have imagined a better choice.

Fabulous Holiday in a Wonderful Gite at a Beautiful Location

Having spent a tremendous week at Loco’s Lodge in 2017, we quickly concluded that the location and facilities perfectly suited our requirements, and we accordingly booked the property for three weeks in June this year. The gite was exactly how we remembered it – clean, tidy, roomy and well-appointed, with the crystal blue pool beckoning us for a dip before unpacking. The hospitality shown by the owner Mitch both upon arrival, and throughout our stay was much appreciated, as was the complimentary wine and fridge provisions left for our consumption. Mitch clearly strives to keep the grounds of the gite in a well-groomed state, and she is particularly diligent in the ensuring the impressive tiled pool is maintained in a perfect condition – servicing it each morning after a previous day’s hard swimming by both two- and four-legged guests! Mitch has two very friendly dogs of her own – Brandy (who is now getting on a little in years), and Charlie the pup. It was a pleasure to be greeted by these two each morning, and at different times throughout the day. Our own dog Max struck up quite a friendship with Brandy & Charlie and was quite happy to share his regular barbeque leftovers with them! The nearest boulangerie is about four miles away in Lauzun and is open six days per week. Lauzun also has a lovely little park with a lake in the middle – which we had a spin around each morning with Max before or after collecting our daily bread. We spent a couple of days sightseeing, but other than going out to buy provisions when required, we were just happy to chill out in this tremendous gite in the quiet French countryside – not least because the sun shone on twenty of the twenty-one days of our holiday! We would have no hesitation in recommending Loco’s Lodge to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday (with or without a pet) in a very well-equipped gite located in wonderful surroundings.

Two weeks aren't long enough!

The five of us, two adults, two children (12 and 8) and our dog, had the most relaxing two week summer holiday. Loco's Lodge is set on the edge of a very quiet hamlet not far from the village of Lauzun. The property is very private and has plenty of safe outdoor space for the kids and the dog to play. The pool, that we all spent hours in everyday, is cleaned every morning by the lovely owner, Mitch. The kitchen and indoor space is comfortable and well equipped; there's everything you'll need. The local roads are very quiet, safe for cycling and running. We had plans to visit some of the local sites but after a couple of days de-stressing we felt no urge to go anywhere so we just enjoyed the time together as a family and the tranquility. We only took the car out a handful of times to go to supermarket for supplies and to visit Eymet market on a couple of occasions. We'd highly recommend this place. It's perfect if you're looking for absolute peace and relaxation away from everything and everyone.

Wonderful roomy dog-friendly gite with great pool

Great stay at a wonderful property with our German Shepherd Dog, Max. Everything was exactly as we hoped it would be - the gite is very roomy, beautifully appointed, very clean and tidy and in a pleasantly quiet area just a few miles from Lauzun and its village facilities. The sun also happened to shine for the duration of our week at Loco's Lodge! The kind hospitality shown by Mitch (and her dog, Brandy) upon arrival - and indeed throughout our stay - was much appreciated, as was the well-stocked fridge and the selection of wines provided for our consumption. One of the key attributes for us was the dog-friendly nature of Loco's Lodge, not least with the dog-friendly tiled pool, and the selection of shaded or sunny terraces for chosen preference throughout the day. There are various sight-seeing options in the area, but other than a few shopping trips to Eymet and Saint-Pardoux, we instead chose to make full use of the excellent facilities and simply chill out. We have stayed in many villas and gites in southwest France with our dog over recent years, and would struggle to nominate a property more suited to us than Loco's Lodge. We would have no hesitation in recommending Loco's Lodge to friends and family seeking to relax in a similar holiday villa in the away-from-it-all summer sunshine. Moreover we would undoubtedly seek to return ourselves, perhaps for a longer stay.

Brilliant Holiday :)

Could not ask for a better holiday with a dog so already booked for next year! The area and gite are stunning! My dog was able to roam free and loved swimming in the pool and relaxing on the sunbeds! Kids loved it as they had wi-fi! Mitch was great! She stocked up our fridge on arrival and was there if we had any questions about local area...she even sorted out the vet appointment for our return journey! So relaxing and idyllic and weather was fabulous! So many lovely memories :)

Snow to spring!

We had a really relaxing time and most of that was due to the way Mitch runs Loco's Lodge, being there when we needed her and leaving us to the peace and quiet otherwise. The local area was great for walking and we found lots of interesting and pretty places to visit nearby. It was like jumping into the English summer! Sam, Ed & Ruby

THE IDEAL WINTER GETAWAY !

We enjoy France in the Winter...it's delightfully free of crowds, usually sunny and not as cold as home...home being Canada's Pacific Northwest coast. We arrived at Loco's Lodge late in the evening to find a welcoming vase of yellow tulips, wonderful honey from Mitch's bees and great wines from her wine shop in nearby Eymet. Thanks to Mitch's concise emailed instructions we didn't get lost and knowing we were arriving late, she'd left us groceries to make dinner and breakfast as well. Morning light brought beautiful vistas to our breakfast table in a comfortable wood-beamed room. As we had our Petit Déjeuner we enjoyed views of the green fields which surround the Lodge – we imagined the fields filled with sunflowers in the summer. It's hard to find a more peaceful place for a winter getaway than Loco's Lodge, and a more perfect host than Mitch, who was there to answer questions and give advice if needed. The Lodge with its open patio and side verandah is a great place to unwind...to catch up on your reading, write that novel, sketch or paint Mitch's picturesque barn, go for walks through the quiet countryside or leisurely explore the nearby bastide towns. Many of the markets in these interesting towns continue to be held outdoors throughout the winter, thanks to the mild climate in the Lot-et-Garonne. We will definitely return to Loco's Lodge – hard to decide which season though...perhaps Winter again, which is our favourite time ? Spring with the blossoming of the orchards of plum trees which cover the hills - Summer with its golden fields of sunflowers or Autumn with the grapevines in their glorious jewel-toned colours of garnet, ruby and topaz. Thank you Mitch for a wonderful 2 week break in your beautiful Loco's Lodge. Jackie and Stephen, Vancouver, B.C. Canada

Wonderful relaxing week at Loco's Lodge

We spent a wonderful relaxing week at Loco's Lodge. What hits you when you arrive is the silence and tranquility in such beautiful welcoming eye catching surroundings. We loved the view looking out onto the sunflowers from the terrace. It's a home away from home, with food provided in the fridge on your arrival and very nice bottles of wine, exceptional for a rental in France from our experience over the last 10 years. Mitch, the owner is Irish and she has not lost her Irish hospitality ! Very comfortable and nicely decorated house with everything you need supplied, even toweling robes, games and cds. The pool is a great plus, you feel you want to make the most of it all where time stands still but unfortunately it flew by too quickly. We very much appreciated Mitch's excellent advice on wines in her local cave in Eymet at very reasonable prices. She organised a trip to visit a vineyard of one of the wines we appreciated very much. There is lots to do in the area, we went canoeing, visited castles, pre-historic town. We loved Eymet, great restaurants and lots to choose from at the market; We enjoyed the party in the village with everyone eating outside, great ambiance ! Everyone mixes together. We became very fond of Brandy, the dog who came to see us often, very well-behaved, affectionate dog for people like us who are not used to dogs. My daughters still miss him ! A truly exceptional week away that my husband, my 2 daughters and myself highly recommend.

Host profile image
The photo is of Charlie, my best pal, she is the boss! I bought the property in 1994
whilst living in Germany involved in the golf business. Moved down to France in 2001 and in 2003, I decided to go back to school - to study all about wine. 7 years of studies, and 18 years of running my wine shop in the buzzing village of Eymet, I am still working 7/7, aided and abetted by Charlie. My favourite time of the day is 'sundowner' time, watching the spectacular sunsets at Loco's Lodge.

Why they chose this property

Loco's Lodge is part of Le Tuquet, nearly 2 hectares. The Lodge has been totally rejuvenated this year with a South facing sun lounge with views of rolling countryside, trees and more trees, providing a home to the local deer, the red squirrels, the occasional pheasant and many rabbits.
This year, I also added a 'sundowner' terrace where you can sit and enjoy the evening sunsets, or watch our amazing night sky. There is also a covered terrace, should it rain.
A paradise for dogs, with plenty of quiet roads for walking.

What makes this property unique

The property is in the middle of an enormous field, with either sunflowers, winter rye or barley being grown. Neighbours are nowhere to be seen. It is an oasis of tranquillity, somewhere to relax and unwind, either in the hammocks, by the pool, in the sun lounge, or on the terraces. Books are also provided.
The décor inside is warm and cosy, with a lot of personal touches to make you feel truly at home. You will receive a generous welcome package on arrival, with all of the bare essentials - and more. And, needless to say, a couple of bottles of local wine!
