Had a great stay, Heather and Jon were fantastic with communication, before and during our stay, provided fishing tips and information. Beautiful location on the Kenai river, loved the firepit right by the water. Fishing experienced was a bit mixed, while there is plenty of water to try and fish, our best chances of fishing/catching salmon was limited to 1-2 spots at the top of the drift, not ideal for a group of 4. We did have to share this spot with nextdoor neighbors for half our trip but they were very friendly. Once they left, fishing really picked up and was a blast. Overall a great stay, close to public fishing spots, not too far from town, and felt secluded. Thank you for having our group!
The house on the River was wonderful, such a great quiet location right on the river. Perfect for our family to relax and unwind after a week of go go go traveling throughout Alaska. Close enough to a store for food and such, far enough away to be very quiet. Not many salmon running while we were there but looks like a good spot. Would 100% stay here again FYI from the pictures, the little point out into the river is the neighbors property and roped off, the shoreline for fishing at this house is right in front of the table and bench.
This 3 bedroom 1 bath home was extremely clean. The communication with the host, the check in and check out process was simple. The spot right on the river allowed for east fishing. There is a fire pit and folding chairs. Found 2 fishing poles in the back we used. This house has a huge deck and grill. We really appreciated the abundance of towels, washcloths, cleaning supplies, pots/pans, foil, sandwich bags, coffee filters and snacks. Even a surprise local wine upon arrival. Great location, the Three Bears Alaska was in walking distance and provided everything you may need. Full Grocery, Ace Hardware, gas station & liquor all with in 1 mile. Perfect location in Sterling, Alaska. We would come here again.
Incredibly beautiful and calming property. Very secluded. Our entire family loved it and Heather kept it well stocked with lot's of the nice extra things including a delicious welcome gift.It is much better than a cabin on a stream! One bathroom meant we had time our showers correctly but other than that it was a flawless and great experience. I would highly recommend this property to anyone and would stay there again in a heartbeat. Thanks Heather!!!
We had a great stay at this rental located right on the kenia river. The cabin is literally only about 50ish steps away from the river with a level bank. We were able to catch some salmon, but we believe our stay was just a few days late for the big run. Not bless, we had a great stay with everything we needed. Thank you Heather!
we were so relaxed with the peace and quit. just the sound of the river flowing behind the house. made us forget everything about our busy work life waiting for us once we return to the rat race of life WORK
We loved our stay! The house had everything we needed and worked well for our family. The location - you can’t beat it! Right on the water, views out the window of eagles flying, each day we saw a Mamma moose and her baby. Easy to get to all our destinations in the Kenai area. Thank you!
Awesome location on the river - isolated enough to feel alone with nature, yet close to everything you may need. We very much enjoyed our stay. My favorite was morning coffee to the sound of the flowing river.
This house is perfect for the fisherman and family! Beautiful views of the river and a great kitchen! Heather is amazing, she was only a phone call away and had great suggestions of day trips. We truly enjoyed our stay and plan on making this an annual trip.
Heather was awesome!
Rather warm when we were there- August 9-14, she went right out and brought back new wonderful fans
Home is very clean and plenty of room for family of 6 adults
We made so many family memories there.
Heather thank you for sharing your home with us . We will be back !! The Pryor’s
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cabin on the river. The location of the cabin worked great for us to be close to site seeing and shopping. Besides being able to fish at the property, we were able to fish some of the local fishing spots that were less than 30 minutes ‘drive from the cabin. Heather and her family were great host and we would book again. It was the perfect setting for our Alaska vacation. Highly recommend!!
Heather was a great host. The location can not be beat. 120’ from the Kenai. I caught a King Salmon and Reds.
Very private location and easy to get anywhere. I’d stay here again.

My name is Heather and I grew up here on the Kenai Peninsula. I am a nurse here in town, and am married with five children. My grandparents purchased this property in the late 1950's to use as a fishing cabin, and has since been passed on in the family to me. We lived in this home for a few years, but as our family grew, our home needed to also. I dearly miss living on the river and I spend time there often when not rented. I hope you get as much joy from this location as I do.
