This property is truly a gem. Well equipped with everything you could wish for. Communication between us and owners was excellent, check in a breeze, and location was perfect. This property has it all including a historic angle, hiking trails, fire pits, wonderful scenery and location to all Crawford Bay has to offer. One of the best VRBO rentals we have stayed at.

Gorgeous getaway

My 2 sons, my wife, trusty schnauzer and myself stayed in one of the cabins for a weekend. I have stayed at many places throughout the Okanagan and Kootenays and I can say that this is my favourite spot. Joan was an excellent host and made us feel very welcome. The property is full of history, wildlife and scenery. The family enjoyed the short hike up to the falls, the boys stayed busy playing badminton and my wife ran the surrounding trails. The cabin was cozy, well equipped and comfortable for all. Loved it!! Thank you Joan.

Just WOW!!!

What an absolutely gorgeous VRBO! Our week in this beautiful, well appointed rustic cabin super ceded my expectations. (And that has never happened before!) Joan was such a fabulous host. She had lots of recommendations for places to visit and eat. The cabin was clean and spacious but at the same time, super cozy. While I prefer a king sized bed, the queen was very comfortable and I slept soundly. I enjoyed a glass of wine and a good book whilst having a good, long soak in the vintage style bathtub. It was the perfect way to spend our rainy day. We lounged on the deck, hiked 20 minutes to a beautiful waterfall (right from our front door!) played badminton in the spacious lawn area, and soaked up every minute of sunshine. Highly, HIGHLY recommend this VRBO in the quaint town of Crawford Bay!

Beautiful Lux Cabin on Gorgeous Estate in Crawford Bay

We spent 4 nights in this charming, well-appointed cabin and the experience could not have been more pleasant. The cabin is situated in Crawford Bay, just a couple of miles from the Kootenay Ferry Landing, so it is a perfect base for exploring both sides of Kootenay Lake. The cabin is one of 2 that sit in a lovely forest clearing on the lands of the historic Wedgewood Manor. Hostess Joan was wonderful; she was welcoming and available while giving us plenty of privacy and permission to roam the estate, gardens and pretty ponds. The cabin is perfect for a couple. There is a large, comfy loft bedroom (high ceilings!) with a soaking tub-perfect after a day of hiking or sightseeing. The bedding is lux, and the bed is very comfortable. The room has several windows to allow for light; one of the large ones opens and is screened, allowing for cool mountain air to flow down the ridge and through the bedroom. There's a small open closet with hangers and a large chest of drawers for unpacking. Downstairs is a roomy eat-in kitchen/living area. Again, lots of windows to allow for light and air flow. The kitchen is well-equipped for your basic cooking needs, and nice window spot for a table and 2 chairs. The living room has a comfy leather sofa and matching chair and ottoman. There is a TV and DVDs. There is a first floor bathroom with toilet, sink, shower and plenty of towels and storage for your toiletries. Shower had nice water pressure. Note: I brought my own travel hair dryer and did not see one in the bathroom, but Joan had provided a bottle of shampoo in the storage drawers. In addition to the cabin being perfectly laid out and clinically clean, it's beautiful as well. The exposed beams, the handmade stair railings, all of the gorgeous woodwork make the cabin so light and bright and homey. This is a great rental, and for a more detailed review from me, see the listing on Trip Advisor. I would not hesitate to recommend this property to anyone.

Wonderful hide-a-way

Cozy cabin with all the amenities. Location is stunning. Site has interesting history and hosts have made it fun with a discovery book and info-stops that tell the history on little walks thru the property. The attention to detail in the cabin is outstanding - everything is perfect. Easy and safe walking with dogs to beach, town or just for the exercise. Hosts are available when needed. We enjoyed a tranquil visit.

Beautiful get away

This property was not only beautiful but so peaceful. We were lucky enough to be the only ones renting a cabin for a week so it was very quiet and wonderful. We also got to see a bear close up so that was pretty beautiful in itself. John and Joan were very wonderful as well polite, happy, and very knowledgeable with things to do around the area. 110% stay here if you are wanting to get away some where peaceful.

Perfect getaway for a family with fur babies.

A perfect vacation for a family with fur babies or any family as the cabin is perfect. Joan meets you on arrival and is a wonderful host. The cabin was very clean and had everything that we needed. The grass area was great for the dogs to enjoy and the hike to the waterfall which starts right beside the cabin was well worth it. The location of the cabin is close to town, which has some very nice artisan shops to browse through. Can't wait to go back next year!

A wonderful week in Crawford Bay!

Highly recommended. Wonderful hosts, the Robin’s Nest spotless and quiet. Others on the property who we barely saw… the verandah a great spot for the ten books I read. The proximity of the free ferry is a bonus for a day trip to Nelson… leave a bit of time to catch it - 40 minutes should do. Nice coffee shop until 3pm if you miss it and the views are spectacular. Good beach a five minute drive. Wife and son went… I stayed put! Bug spray for mornings and evenings… depending on the time of year. We will definitely be back and recommending to friends and colleagues. Make sure you shop in Creston if coming north.. the grocery store prices are understandably high… but liquor in the same place reasonable and the quaint pub next door is a good place to meet the folks who stopped there a half century ago and never left. Four out of five for accuracy of listing nothing to do with property or Joan and David… had a wrestling match with VRBO and the price kept changing. First time for everything but the owners are responsive so check with them… I’m taking the motorcycle for that astonishing road and family can catch up with they do! Oh and the upstairs queen bed is comfortable. Our 18 year old had no problems with the pull out couch at all … comfortable as well but maybe a bit of a stretch on that for larger folk or couples. Again in general - can’t say enough and thanks to Joan and David for a wonderful, very necessary and overdue holiday! Mike, Yun-Han and Harrison
