About this property

A unique feature about the White Tail Cabin is that it is located in an ATV Friendly area. The Monday Creek Trail System is located 1-mile away from the cabin. Wayne National Forest offers over 75+ miles of designated trails for off-road riders. Guests can ride directly from the cabin to the nearest trailhead. If you have your own off-road vehicle, bring it to experience Wayne National Forest.

You will follow forest covered, back roads until you reach our White Tail Cabin that is nestled next to Sand Run Lake, 18,000+ acres of Wayne National Forest, and is situated on our 7-acre property with two private ponds. You are welcomed to beautiful, picturesque views of the forest that will leave you awestruck. The White Tail Cabin is cozy, comfortable, and inviting making you feel like you are staying at a home away from home. There are 3 spacious bedrooms that allow our guests to rest after a long day of exploring nearby state parks. The living room offers a great space for you to relax, snuggle up next to the electric fireplace, and watch some movies while enjoying a warm cup of hot coco. The absolute best features of the White Tail Cabin include all the outdoor features. We are avid outdoor lovers, so we hope you and your guests get to spend some quality time outdoors! Sip your morning coffee off the wrap around deck while listening to the nearby nature or spend the afternoon enjoying a delicious cookout! Partake in some catch and release fishing in the private pond right in front of the cabin, the second private pond on the lower portion of the property, or at Sand Run Lake. While you are out exploring the ponds, make sure you check out the Sand Run Lake Picnic area and wander into the forest filled with pine tree. If you have a hammock, we recommend bringing it and taking it here. The wooden swing, located by the pond, allows you to become one with nature. There is a newly renovated gravel firepit with wooden benches and Adirondack chairs for you and your guests to create memories of a lifetime around the campfire. You can end your night by relaxing and unwinding in the warm Jacuzzi. Before heading to bed, make sure you and your guests check out the gorgeous, open starry night sky because that’s not something you get to experience all the time. Stay at the White Tail Cabin to experience the forest and to have a trip of a lifetime.

Notes about listing: You must be at least 25 years of age to book property exceeding 4 guests. Persons of the rental age or older are not permitted to make reservations on behalf of younger guests. We do allow up to 2 dogs at the property, but we require a $50 pet fee per pet which will be charged 2 days prior to arrival.

Wonderful Thanksgiving Getaway

We stayed at White Tail with our adult children during the Thanksgiving holiday. The property is gorgeous - we thoroughly enjoyed both outdoors and indoors. We had to have a late check in - all communication from the time we booked through check out was clear and precise. Any questions I had were answered thoroughly and promptly I highly recommend the White Tail cabin and 1st Choice Lodging! We look forward to visiting again in the summer!

White Tail Cabin at Sand Run

Beautiful property!! Very quiet & private during our stay. Adjoining picnic area of Wayne Nat'l Forest is a stunning morning/evening stroll. The big pond is beautiful & the small pond is charming with a small dock & fountain - viewable from the hot tub. Fire pit is large area with muliple seating options including a wooden swing. House was comfortable with clean linens, kitchen & laundry area but could use some minor maintenance (deck railings, some hot tub jets not working) but not enough to keep us from booking in the future. All in all, a great get-away!!

Great Little Getaway

We had a great weekend at this cabin. We explored the surrounding forest trails, spent an afternoon on Burr Oak Lake, strolled around historic Nelsonville, snuggled around the camp fire and stargazed well into the night. I didn't get the name of the lady who checked us in, but she was great. Gave us great places to check out while we were in the area and was super friendly. We stay in the area several times a year and are looking forward to staying here again!

Beautiful cabin!! The only thing we didn't care for was that it wasn't completely private.There we're alot of people fishing in the pond in front of cabin,which was uncomfortable. Dirt bike going threw property both days which would have been tolerable,except we had 2 five year olds that could have been hit

ATV Weekend

The cabin is located in a quite private location accessible to ATV trails Plenty of room Would hope the gas grill could get fixed No jets or lights work on hot tub No tvs except main room with roku or even just cable channels Weekend was for riding and that we did but planned on functioning amenities in the evening but that did not take away from the time outside

This review is not about the Whitetail cabin in particular, because we ended up staying in a different property due to a scheduling issue. When the hosts realized their scheduling issue, they worked hard to make it right with us. They put us in a lovely place that was probably better than the one we originally booked. Would definitely rent from these nice folks again.

White Tail Cabin

This cabin was as advertised. It is in the woods so expect some bugs mostly daddy long legs which are not an issue, although we brought a fogger for mosquitos so really didnt have an issue with them. Beautiful setting, very quiet and relaxing. The cabin had plenty of essentials, tp, paper towels, trashbags. Beds were very comfortable. The little pond does have algae and the big one has lilly pads, and we had many locals fishing the big one. My husband was able to fish both. Caught a few in the big one but nothing in the small one. We suspect the locals may be fishing these ponds out and not releasing them.

Great Cabin, not for fishing

Great cabin in the woods for a weekend getaway! Private, clean, quiet location. However, not an ideal fishing location. Private pond was completely covered in algae and the public pond had too many Lilly pads. No fish were caught all weekend. Check in was easy, but you have to check in at a separate location. Hot tub wasn’t working upon arrival, but contacted property manager who instructed us to re-set the breaker and then it worked the rest of the weekend. Good wifi at the house. Our dog loved running around by the ponds. Overall great stay!

We really enjoyed staying here. Nice house with everything you need. Love the two ponds! Be prepared for public visitors at the larger pond though. That’s a public park that is directly adjacent to the property. Nice to have it right there though!

Anniversary Trip

Just overall poor communication with the staff for the reservation and check in, which was more frustrating/annoying and a little stressful to me. Overall we had a lovely time though. A few things and improvements they could make. The pond was not stocked and it said fishing on site in the reservation, which was one of the reasons I liked this place. They should really stock the pond so that people can actually fish and catch some thing. And then the hot tub was gross, which was another reason this place caught my eye on the reservation…. so we didn’t even get in. Definitely recommend either getting a new hot tub or cleaning that one out and giving an extensive makeover. Looked like infection waiting to happen for anyone getting in.

Needs some work

Front door of stove kept falling off when I cooked it was taped on, was stated that 2 bedrooms had 2 beds, but in fact only 1 room had 2 beds the other 2 rooms only had 1 bed, only was able to use the hot tub 1 night the jets didn’t work and it tripped the breaker so it was too cold to use the next night and the pond was supposed to be stocked it had no fish and was so dirty and full of algae the kids couldn’t fish in it.
