About this property

Charming East Hampton cottage on large property; steps to village

This quaint Cape Cod style house is minutes from all the shops, galleries, theatres, and restaurants in East Hampton village. Visitors to our house always rave about our convenient location.

The ocean beach is two miles away, and within easy biking distance. The East Hampton train station is a 5 minute walk away, and the bus stop for the Hampton Jitney, the hourly bus to and from NYC, is about a ten minute walk.

Although it's ideal to have a car to explore the entire East End (including Montauk and Shelter Island), the house is so close to village amenities, you can walk to all the best restaurants, including Nick & Toni's, Fresno, 1770 House, Sam's, and Rowdy Hall. Just down the street is Mary's Marvelous, a great spot for morning coffee and muffins or sandwiches for the beach.

There are two village grocery stores and several specialty food stores. All are less than a ten minutes walk from the house.

The property itself is rare for its location: although it is so near the village, the house sits on a quiet one acre of land - perfect for relaxing outside, reading in the back yard chairs, playing with children, or outdoor barbecuing. Because of the property size, it's a great place for kids - to run around or to play ball. There is a half-acre field behind the house (perfect also for golfers to practice or for a private yoga lesson).

The back patio includes an outdoor dining table and chairs, with a market umbrella, and a barbecue grill. There is a hammock on the lawn and chaise lounges for sleeping, reading, or sun-bathing.

The house is a traditional East Hampton family house that has been owned by the same family for multiple generations. It has three bedrooms (one queen, one double, and two twin beds), and sleeps six comfortably. The maximum occupancy is six.

There are two recently renovated bathrooms, each with overhead European rain showers and separate Hansgrohe hand-held showers, complete with custom glass enclosures and marble floors.

The owners enjoy cooking, and the kitchen is completely outfitted. There is a SubZero refrigerator, a Bosch dishwasher, and a LG gas range. In addition, we are fully stocked with pots, pans, tools, and gadgets - from a lobster steamer to a Kitchen Aid. Because of its size, this house is more suited for intimate dinner parties, small family events, or romantic getaways, as opposed to large house parties. There is a large cookbook library in the kitchen and living room.

The house has high speed internet and cable with a 48 inch Smart flatscreen TV in the living room and a 32 inch Smart flatscreen TV in the master bedroom. If you need to work while here, you can use the internet while lying in the hammock in the back garden.

The house is heated by city gas, and cooled by new high-tech ductless air conditioning in each room. The air conditioning is controlled by individual remote controls which allow the occupant of each room to select the temperature comfortable to him or her. These units also act to purify the air against allergens.

The basement contains a state-of-the-art LG clothes washer and a GE dryer for laundry.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay

My husband and I stayed in David's house for nine days in June 2017. We totally enjoyed our vacation there. The house was as described and pictured in the listing. It was very clean and comfortable and had everything you would need for a relaxing stay. We didn't really do any cooking, but you certainly could, if you were so inclined; however, with all the good restaurants in the area, including David's recommendations, we didn't have a problem finding places to eat. We loved the location, just a five minute walk to the center of town. Being able to walk into town removes the headache of dealing with traffic and then having to find a place to park. We went to the beach everyday that the weather was nice. It is, however, expensive to park at the East Hampton beaches and parking spaces are not always available, so we took advantage of the free shuttles run by thefreeride dot com, for rides to Main Beach. The open air electric shuttles run more or less continuously from several locations in town, including from the long-term free parking lot at the YMCA, which is a five-minute drive from the house. You could easily walk to a shuttle stop from the house but if you are carrying chairs and other beach stuff, driving to the parking lot is more convenient. We had one rainy day so we spent the day visiting the Parrish Art Museum in Southampton, which I recommend. It was a pleasure to deal with David before, during and after our stay. We would definitely consider returning, hopefully in the near future.

Location, Location, Location

Not only is the location of this home perfect for walking into town and catching the train, the home is perfect for a family gathering. The host, David, was very attentive and responsive from the time I made the booking until the time I left. He was very helpful in recommending restaurants, grocery stores and transportation options back to New York City and getting to the airports. I would highly recommend David and his home!

Wonderful location

This is a gem of a house. The location was perfect for us, right down the street from the village and wonderful work-out locations. It was clean, comfortable and felt really special. I have used VRBO before and have connected with wonderful home owners along the way and David was one of the most helpful in making our time unique and perfect for our time in East Hampton. Thank you David! Thanks for sharing your history with us through your home and village.

The perfect spot!

Our family tries to stay in this adorable house every time we visit East Hampton. The location is perfect: a quick walk to the village which has many shops and restaurants, and my children love the playground. We also ride our bikes to the ocean and sometimes the duck pond. This house is fully equipped for a chef so we enjoy cooking or grilling depending on the weather. The house is clean and the yard is beautiful! We hope to be back soon. Much thanks to the owner who is responsive and helpful for ideas of things to do in the area. Thanks as always!

Comfortable, convenient and charming

We had a delightful long weekend at this property. Could not have been more conveniently located. Beautifully maintained landscaping, spacious patio and large grill which we used for cooking local fish. the owner provided us with great tips for exploring the area. Look forward to staying here again.

Great house and fantastic host!

We had a wonderful weekend in this house. We loved how comfortable and perfect this house is, but best of all, it's sparking clean! The whole place doesn't feel like a rental, but an actual home. We enjoyed the backyard and the convenience of the location. Also, the owner David was so helpful recommending local spots around and making sure that our stay was as good as can be. I highly recommend this property - it has all you need and more!

A fantastic way to visit the Hamptons - - -

A wonderful way to visit the Hamptons The house is charming, comfortable, neat as a pin with every wish for a retreat fulfilled. Except for the birds chirping in the morning the house was very quiet and peaceful. A lovely back yard is welcoming. The interior is delightful and up to date. The house feels like a home away from home. The bonus is the house is so convenient to all the charms of E Hampton. Difficult to leave all that comfort!!!! Of course, we would love to return to that lovely house and we hope we will.

Beautiful fall family wedding staycation

We needed to arrive early and stay late for our daughter's wedding in East Hampton/Amagansett during September and were lucky enough to find this lovely property when we started looking back in the spring! It is well-kept, well-located, and well, just wonderful! It met all of our needs and the landlord was most hospitable with making it work for us. The location can't be beat to experience the shops of East Hampton and food and entertainment are also just steps away. It is as advertised and we look forward to referring this lovely home to friends and family and hopefully experiencing another stay there ourselves.

Homey in the Hamptons

My girlfriends and I recently rented David's home for a long summer weekend and we could not have been happier. We were greeted by David and shown around his beautiful home and very spacious (yet adorable) outdoor property. The kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms had everything we'd ever need and felt like a real home away from home. Our favorite activity at the house was lounging in the lay-down lawn chairs, soaking up the sun next to David's tomato garden. Second were eating the tomatoes! Recommend to all!

Quaint cottage in a fantastic location

My husband and I know the Hamptons well and deliberately chose a house centrally located in E. Hampton village. We have a young son and so it was critical to be able to walk to the likes of the playground, grocery stores and Starbucks and to take quick rides to the beach, children's museum, you name it. This adorable cottage was close to everything, yet private and peaceful once we walked through the door. The house itself was charming and full of character and in wonderful condition. The kitchen was indeed a chef's dream as there was truly every gadget imaginable. The backyard had a huge yard, complete with a fantastic BBQ grill and sitting area that was great for hanging out with friends. The owner was organized, responsive and completely on the ball and made sure that we had a great stay. We would recommend this home to anyone and look forward to returning ourselves.

Beautiful spot, relaxing Hamptons location

My wife and I stayed this past fall with our young son (toddler). While our visit predated the recent updates and renovations we nonetheless found the house exceptionally comfortable, clean and well maintained. It must be just stunning with the new bathrooms! We loved the accessibility to the village with shops and restaurants just a short walk away. All local beaches were nearby including the bay, which was perfect for our young son. The house itself is situated on a quiet side street and has a large field in the back perfect for strolls, badminton or an evening cocktail. The owner was a pleasure to deal with and provided very useful information to make our weekend special. We can't wait for our next visit!

Charming East Hampton getaway ideally located for the Village, train, Main Beach, and much more!!!

This charming property has just undergone a thorough renovation including replacement of both bathrooms, new paint, carpeting and air conditioning. It is conveniently located close to all amenities of East Hampton Village. Less than two blocks to the East Hampton train station!! The bathrooms we're elegant with multiple shower heads in both bathrooms, rain shower heads, glass walls, marble floors, and subway tile walls. We loved the proximity to multiple beaches including Main, Wiborg, and Georgica. The kitchen has had extensive work and is exceptionally well stocked for people who love to cook. There is a large space for summer/vegetable garden that could be used with a full season rental. The oversized lot is ideal for enjoying nature, the sun, fresh air and extraordinary privacy. The owner was extremely knowledgeable about the area and exceptionally helpful. He was easy to get along with and accommodating. Photos accurately reflected the condition and amenities of the property. The property was clean and well maintained. We've been traveling to East Hampton since the mid 1980's and this is one of the nicest properties we've stayed in. We were lucky to be the first to stay after the 2013/2014 renovations and found it to be very comfortable. We recommend it highly!!! It's safe to say we'll return many times.

I am an attorney who divides my time between Brooklyn and East Hampton. I have keen interests in gardening and cooking, and enjoy doing both in East Hampton.

Why they chose this property

This property is a family property that my family has owned for several generations. My ancestors had a farm on this and the neighboring streets, and this property is part of that original tract.

What makes this property unique

The property is centrally located for all things in East Hampton village. It's great to walk to the grocery store in the morning and to restaurants at night. At the same time, because of the size of the property, it has a distinctly rural feel to it. No matter how busy an East Hampton summer weekend is, my property's back yard and field is a welcoming, quiet, and relaxing spot.
