About this property

WOW!!! Creek and Large stocked pond Waterfront Cabin in the National Forest

We have a no pet policy. Trout Run Cabin is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath real log cabin located on the banks of Fightingtown Creek, a protected trout steam. The cabin sleeps 6 comfortably. No pets, no smoking, no hot tub.

We are a family destination not a party location. It is very quiet here and we like it that way. If you like whimsy, you will love it here. The pictures tell the story.

At Trout Run Cabin you can take long walks back into the forest for miles or sit on the porch and read a book. How about sitting by the fire pit out back at night making s'mores while listening to the crystal clear water rushing by. The sounds of the forest are all around you. This is a very peaceful place. Lots of flat areas for the children to run and play. Bring their bikes and they can ride all day long.

No license needed to fish in the pond out front.

Inside you will find 2 premium king size beds: One in the master suite and the other in the loft suite. Also, there is a set of bunk beds in the bunk room. All beds have 1500 Egyptian cotton thread count sheets.

Come Relax and Re-energize.

Fun summer getaway
We really enjoyed Trout Run Cabin. The location was perfect with the creek on one side and pond on the other. The cabin was fully stocked with everything you need. You can either enjoy a day in Blue Ridge or relax at the cabin all day.

Don’t think twice… book now!
My family and I had a wonderful stay here! My boys were in the creek daily and when they weren’t tubing on the creek they were fishing in the lake. The cabin is the perfect size. There is everything you need and more!! We loved it.

Accessibility Issues
Pros: Quiet, Nice home, peaceful once you get there. Fully furnished for cooking, which we did a lot of but didn't intend to. Cons: Traveling the roads to the home was a big obstacle. Even my country-boy husband was nervous. Long sections of roads full of potholes, large rocks, deep dropoffs because of pavement worn away from sides of road. Narrow roads with inability to get to the side if meet someone coming in opposite direction. Someone must back up. One section is a bog hole where stream overflows. We had to go 10 mph on gravel road sections, some were ripples of bumps. Because of the road conditions, it is not the place to stay if you want to go into the surrounding towns daily (several miles away). We dreaded the drives to town. Driving at night on the gravel roads and partially paved road sections is not advisable. Outside furniture was very dirty. We did not sit on them because we had nothing but their towels to use to clean them up, but did wipe the small table down to eat on it. The wipe used to wipe it down was black when finished. We fished 4 days in the pond, but "0" fish. It states on the website it is a "Large Stocked Pond." A lady feeds them. You can only fish in a small area in front of the home. Way over-priced to stay here based on road conditions and with all of the turns that must be made to access the place. Shame on not being given travel hazard warnings. Drive an automobile NOT low to the ground (thankfully ours wasn't).

Fantastic peaceful cabin
Our visit met and exceeded our expectations! Beds were super comfortable and loved the quiet location with the creek behind it by the fire pit. It is close enough to hiking trails, tubing down the river, visiting downtown Blue Ridge or just playing games or reading a book at the cabin. We would highly recommend this place! Buddy the dog made a daily appearance and met a few of the neighbors as well.

Great Spot Away from it all!
I took my kids (12 and 13) for a quick getaway from FL for spring break. We had a great time at this quaint cabin. The firepit and creek setup is just about perfection. We only left the cabin one day for a hike to the Amicalola Falls, but other than that, we just enjoyed relaxing in the quiet remote location.

Thanksgiving vacation
The place was very relaxing and clean. It was stocked with everything needed though we brought our own. We enjoyed building a fire inside each night and once in the outside firepit. We were looking forward to seeing the dogs that everyone has mentioned coming by, but we never saw them. We will book again if we get back to Blue Ridge.

Cute but dirty
We were looking forward to our stay but did not enjoy finding a used bandaid with blood on one of the pillows or the dirt/dust under the coffee table and cobwebs everywhere inside the cabin. It leads me to believe that our bedding was not washed in the first place. Do not recommend this place if you are looking for a clean cabin.

So restful!
We loved staying in this well-built cabin right on Fightingtown Creek, especially having the fire pit right behind the cabin and close to the creek. The cabin had everything we needed. I caught a couple of trout in the creek, but we didn't have much success fishing in the lake, as a neighbor feeds them bread everyday. We loved having level ground to play yard games and my young grandkids enjoyed floating short distances down the creek. Yet everyone would say relaxing and having s'mores by the fire pit nightly, while we listened to the creek, was our favorite. Thanks, Murray! We can't wait to return!

We absolutely loved our stay at this cabin on the creek, we stay in a lot of cabin throughout the year and this one was the most stocked with essentials they have thought of everything you might need(we were sure to replaced what we used) very comfortable beds..the kids throughly enjoyed playing in the creek roasting marshmallows in the fire and fishing in the pond they caught a small trout, crawdads, minnows, and large mouth bass in the pond! We wish we had more time to spend there! The Host were very thoughtful and generous!

Perfect mountain location
My family of four enjoyed the backyard creek, front yard pond, and all the natural surrounding woods. My kids got lots of time outside and enjoyed skipping rocks in the pond. The backyard fire pit was a favorite two nights in a row, and we made good use of the proximity to town. It seems like a long way up the winding roads, but really pretty close. The house was comfortable- the best beds we have ever stayed in outside of home! All the supplies are e needed for a weekend away. Love that they let people leave items for the next family- some places don’t and that can make it hard to pack easy items like salt. Not here- we found plenty and left a few for the next group. Would stay again for sure.

Nice getaway from the Florida heat
Our stay was great overall. The kids absolutely loved the property and played outside a majority of the time. We enjoyed building fires each night and the cabin overall was very relaxing. We didn’t catch any fish in the pond. We tried using night crawlers from Walmart. Overall, we loved our stay.

4th Of July Week
We had a great time at the cabin over the week of 4th of July. Cabin was well stocked, well appointed, and fit the description as advertised. There was plenty of room for our family of 5 between the bedroom, loft and the 2 bunk beds. The neighborhood was nice and everyone we met was friendly, and we were even invited to a 4th of July Celebration. The kids loved playing and tubing in the creek each afternoon, and there were some native trout which were caught and released. We can not forget to mention Buddy the Dog and his daily visits. Would certainly consider renting again.

Beautiful Stay
The cabin was very cozy and nice. The water on both sides of the cabin was really a big hit for my husband and myself, it was so easy to drive to other places(Ellijay, Blue Ridge etc,.) I definitely would recommend this cabin. The cabin was well stocked and had everything you.

Perfect spot to unwind
Sound of the creek, sitting beside the fire pit, even sitting on the porch with the window open listening to the rain and the stream - perfect setting to unwind and relax. Added bonus was sitting on the swing at the pond watching the mother and father Canadian geese taking their 4 goslings for a tour of the pond.

The best cabin, everything you could wish for
This cabin was amazing! It was fully stocked with everything you might need. All the furniture, beds, pillows, and blankets were extremely comfortable and cozy and did not feel cheapor generic! The porch was perfect for reading books, while hearing the stream and drinking my morning coffee. It felt like a home. The stream and pond really made it special. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and spent most of our trip in the cabin. If there were any drawbacks they would be, although there was wifi, neither of us had cell reception with AT&T. The toilet is very noisy while flushing. If you are a light sleeper, it can wake you up through closed doors. And the neighbors are a lot closer than the pictures make it seem. You can't look at the stream without seeing 2 other houses across it. That was probably the most disappointing thing for us but it was still very quiet and we did not have to hear neighbor noise. All that being said, I truly hope I can come back and stay again. Murray really made the cabin Sooooo comfortable and cozy. It was the perfect relaxing getaway we needed!

Growing up in Florida, I have always taken summer vacations to the mountains because it is so different. I love the outdoors so it is a natural thing to love the cabin. For me and my wife, it is a dream come true. We found the perfect place in the perfect location. We have young children and wanted a place that we could let them run and play and not have to worry. We found it. This is one of those items on the bucket list that has been fulfilled. We hope that our guests enjoy the cabin as much as we do.

Why they chose this property

My wife and I had always wanted a cabin in the mountains, on a stream, with a lot of flat area. In June of 2012, we found everything we had been looking for. One of the first things I noticed when I first visited the cabin was how quiet is it and all you can hear is the sound of the creek rushing by. It is a special place and we are just happy that we are able to share it with others.

What makes this property unique

Trout Run Cabin is such a relaxing place. It is so quiet here. You can just sit back, relax and enjoy the sounds of the forest. One of the best things is that you feel so removed from everything yet you are only 20 minutes from downtown Blue Ridge. It is just an awesome place.
