It was nice and quiet, and the owners are very friendly. Great trails and scenic area, would recommend to others and stay here again if ever in the area.
Loved my stay at this beautiful property. Everything I needed in one place. Although it *is* a drive to anything, it's okay because the peace and quiet is perfect. Short, easy drive into town(s). SO close to winery, which was perfect. Swings across the street. Check-in was easy, and place was spotless. As others have said, please note there's no stove or oven, but there's a hotplate. Will stay again for sure. Thank you for a great weekend!
Spacious, clean, peaceful location, exceedingly comfortable mattress (an absolute rarity), generous snacks/waters, well-appointed, nice linens, secure/attached bike storage shed, large/high-quality televisions, enormous sofa, porch (!), communicative owners.
Across the road is a remarkable gazebo with atypical ethereal chimes and bench swings where watching the river meander through the forest evoked altered consciousness and wonderment at nature...yielding gratitude for mere existence.
Just FYI (of no consequence to us): no stove or dishwasher.
This is a very clean and well maintained house. They even have a secure bike storage room that is attached to the house. It contains plenty of room for your bikes and has electricity so you can charge your e-bikes.
This is an amazing place to stay right on the Virginia Creeper Trail. It is the best appointed VRBO we have ever rented! She had everything you would need including bottled waters, ketchup, mustard a few snacks. It is extremely well decorated and very clean and comfortable. It made a perfect rest stop for us when we biked from Damascus to Abingdon. We couldn’t have been happier with our stay! We highly recommend it and hope to return some day!
We loved our stay at this VRBO and interaction with the owners. Came to area to bike the Virginia Creeper which was cool, but stayed three nights to enjoy the area. The cottage is everything and more as shown in pictures. Every comfort of home considered. Charming, cozy, great bed linens, pillows, throws, TVs, and yes the free snacks are 10/10. Met Mark the owner and he was lovely as was his wife who was prompt on communication. There is a fire pit and pavillion and lovely creek across the street we enjoyed an evening fire (wood and fire starters from local Food City.) 128 Pecan great lunch. Visited Abington Muster Grounds for a bit of interesting Revolutionary war history. Abington
Winery half mile away from cottage very nice. Played cards on picnic tables outside cottage and watched bikers come and go. Highly recommned this cottage. Thank you.
Throughly enjoyed our stay. Perfect location to explore the Creeper Trail and nearby towns of Damascus and Abingdon. Appreciated that when we arrived there were waters in the fridge and snacks on the counter. Also nice that there were numerous pillow options on the bed and the place was very clean!
The cottage is adorable and decorated just perfectly. It is very quiet and has all the little things that you need to feel right at home. We can’t wait to visit again. Wonderful experience and highly recommend.
So good to have a cozy safe place to return to on our biking vacation. We couldnt be happier with the place. Very clean, comfirtable, easy. Just what we had in mind.
The cottage was beautifully decorated and very very clean. Dorata was was very easy to get in contact with and very accessible at all times. We came in for the race and it worked out perfectly!
First off, I must start this review telling everyone how amazing, sweet, attentive, and kind the owners were to us. I have rented a lot of homes and properties over the years and by far this is the best experience with an owner that I have ever had. Marc met us shortly after check in and we had the most pleasant and fun conversation and really got to know each other. Dorata checked on us during the stay to ensure we had everything we needed. They instantly made us feel welcome and special. It was a true blessing to get to know this wonderful couple and stay in their beautiful cottage. This was our first trip to the Abingdon/Damascus area and we will definitely return and stay here again. The cottage was right on the Creeper Trail. Everything about the cottage was charming, comfortable, and quaint. Dorata has the kitchen stocked with bottled waters and snacks which we really appreciated. Enjoying my coffee on the front porch listening to the rippling river across the street in the morning was so peaceful. The cottage is beautifully decorated. The king bed was super comfortable. The kitchen is nicely stocked and the bathroom was extremely spacious. Plenty of towels, shampoo, and soaps. The large couch and den was also a great place to relax and hang out. We were located right between Damascus and Abingdon. Both are quintessential small historic downtowns with lots of charm (which I love). Great restaurants and shops. Short drive to downtown Bristol made for a fun afternoon. The trick or treaters were out downtown and we enjoyed the Halloween block party in Abingdon. It was awesome! We visited the winery down the street from the cottage. Everyone we met on this trip was so lovely and a delight to talk to. This is the PERFECT place for a couple to relax, recharge, find tranquility, hike, bike, and enjoy nature. I could go on and on about how much I loved this trip and staying at this cottage. It exceeded all my expectations and we will look forward to staying here again. I may even bring more family and rent out both apartments in the "general store" along with the cottage! A million thank you's to Dorata and Marc. You helped make my husband's birthday celebration and our trip extra special!!
This was a wonderful property! The cottage was spotless, comfortable and the location and setting were amazing. Thank you to the owners for all the TLC they give to this little gem! Stay here... you won't regret it!
The cottage is beautifully decorated and extremely clean! The snacks and water are very nice and generous. The location is beautiful and very quiet at night. Loved it!
Dorata - you thought about everything!
Thank you!
Super cute, very clean and great location. We stayed 3 nights, did some sightseeing and rode the Creeper trail. Bed was very comfortable, bathroom was huge and towels were nice! Dorata even had snacks and bottled water at the cottage. Loved having the covered area with porch swings across the street to sit and watch the river. We'll be staying there again! Thank you!
We enjoyed the cottage and would not hesitate to stay there again. Very clean and had everything we needed. Location was great with access to the Virginia Creeper trail just out the front door and easy drive to Damascus to catch a shuttle to Whitetop.
Thanks for a great stay!
We had an outstanding long weekend at Alvarado Station! We stayed in the cozy cottage and the 2nd floor apartment with a nice balcony ...they were both gorgeously decorated, exceptionally clean and very well appointed! The beds with pillows galore were extremely comfortable and the towels were soft and plush. The huge sofa in the living room of the cottage was incredibly comfy for both of us to stretch out on and watch some netflex on the super large flat screen TVs on the walls (two in each unit) on the 4 & 5G internet. The owners thought of everything from the glowing night lights to a magnifying mirror in each bathroom which was so helpful getting ready for a wedding we went to in the area. Communication with the owners was easy, quick and convent by text. The location was tranquil with a public pavillion and bench swings overlooking the river 50 yards out the front door. The owners have 2 very well maintained adult mountain bikes that we rode on the gravel trail. There were plenty of water bottles in the fridge and a variety of snacks to take hiking. There is a lovely winery 0.5 walkable miles from the cottage. This was our first Vrbo experience and the bar was set incredibly high!
The cottage is right on the Virginia Creeper Trail and makes it easy to get out and start riding or running. The cottage is nice and stocked with water and snacks if you do not bring your own. My wife and I enjoyed our stay on our short get away
My wife and I loved the house. It was just the right size for us. We will be back. The house was clean and the host left many amenities for us. Great lia stop. Right on the VA Creeper. We could ride the trail right out of our front door. Access to the park beside the river was wonderful. We spent one evening there around a fire pit. Everything was easy and convenient. Secure bike storage was also provided.
Thoughtfully stocked place and very cozy! The cottage was clean, the bed was comfy, and there was plenty of hot water. We enjoyed sitting on the porch and waving to passing cyclists, as well as hanging out at the riverside park across the street.
Loved this place. It was extremely clean in addition to being super charming and quiet. Loved the porch and park across the street. Great location right on the VA Creeper trail.
Wonderful location, peaceful atmosphere.. Couldn’t be happier with my stay on the creeper trail..
