The house it’s amazing with beautiful views. We were a family of six adults and stay here for nine days very comfortably. The pool and spa are amazing but can get a little dirty from the neighbors trees. I had to called Michael to request and early pool clean up because of the leaves and dust from the tree. He was so helpful and send someone to do a deep clean on it who just happened to be the person living on the separate studio in front of the house. He was a really cool guy and if wasn’t for that we wouldn’t have known there was someone living there. I hope this house stays a vacation rental so that my family a I can come back and enjoy all the amenities this house has again. Mahalo for your help Michael and to the person living on the studio that I just can’t remember his name😞 and also Mahalo Nui Loa Curtis and Jackie for letting enjoy the beauty of your house .
We were a family of 6 adults and truly enjoyed our stay at this property. We did not have the pleasure of meeting the owners but they were available when we needed them.
This home is as advertised and you will not be disappointed. The pool was amazing to come back to after a day of adventures and spend great family time. Kitchen and entertainment room were also a bonus. We will stay here again someday. Just a note that they do have 4 beach umbrellas, beach cooler and some toys available.
Thank you Curtis and Jackie for opening your home.
The communication with owners was prompt and responsive and helpful. The home (as others have mentioned) is BEAUTIFUL in a quiet neighborhood and super spacious. Pool and hot tub perfect. Air conditioning in pool table room upstairs will need fixed as it wasn’t blowing cool - but each bedroom has one that are nice and cool. Opening up the home in the evenings cools enough to enjoy meals, games, tv, etc.... the tenant onsite was quiet as a mouse and we never heard the pool cleaning company that operates out of the garage. We traveled with myself, husband, three daughters in their twenties, one son in law in his twenties and my two year old granddaughter. More than enough space for all and even space to “get away” if you need quiet time. We left the brand new pack n play we purchased when we got there but the owner already had one also. The owner has gone above and beyond to provide most of the beach items you will need. I would MOST DEFINITELY stay here again with no concerns. Much much nicer than a small hotel room and sharing the pool with a thousand tourists. Thanks so much for memories we will never forget.

Family Vaca
The house is really nice and the pool was great. Nice size place and accommodated all 6 adults very easily. We enjoyed the AC bedrooms and game room. We did have some troubles with the hot tub jets and the pool lights not working. Also, be very careful walking on the back patio because if you step where the grass is you could twist/break an ankle. Curtis was very helpful in walking us through the iPad controls for the pool and hot tub. Would definitely stay there again!

Awesome vacation
We had a wonderful time. The house was clean and roomy. We played pool in the evening after our day outings. The pool and spa were wonderful. Curtis was responsive when we had questions. All the bedrooms and the pool room had air conditioning. There was something for everyone.

Great home for group vacation.
We recently stayed in this home for family vacation. It was great. The first day Curtis realized the hot tub wasn't working correctly and called to let us know he already had a maintenance visit scheduled. I also called and pre-arranged for a delivery the day we arrived. They were super nice and helpful with that. The home had everything we needed. We didn't cook at the house, we ate out. But the kitchen had everything we needed. It's a quiet neighborhood. Close to restaurants and shops. Close to beach, but not walk-able. We would absolutely stay here again. Thanks for making this a great trip for us.

Great stay in Kailua
The December weather in Kailua was unpredictable and very rainy, the hot tub allowed us to be outside, enjoy he ocean view and take a dip in the pool to cool off. It was pristine.
The kitchen has an oversized refer, nice appliances that made meal prep a breeze.
Since we had quite a few days of rain, the reclining chairs were a welcome feature for reading or watching the nice quality large screen TV.
The upstairs recreation room with a pool table and bar also allowed the family to spread out and was another form of entertainment.
We had one hiccup, the coffee pot was missing from the coffee maker, a new Keurig was delivered within a few hours of notifying Curtis.
This house is spacious and well designed for six guests. The house was well stocked with bath and beach towels, pots/pans, dishes and glasses. A great value for the amenities and Location!

Clean, comfortable, and wonderful stay
The home is very spacious, well maintained, clean, and comfortable. Quiet safe neighborhood with beautiful scenery. Very accessible to shops/restaurants in town. Curtis was always available to answer any questions. Even when pool needed cleaning from the leaves, it was followed up as soon as possible. We would definitely recommend this stay to our friends and family. Thanks for a great stay!

Best of the best!
This was our third home that we've rented on the Hawaiian Islands. All the reviews are true! We spent the month of February in this beautiful home. Curtis & Jackie have made it very comfortable. Great neighborhood with friendly people. Since we stayed in Kailua over 30 days, we were in the house many evenings. The TV room was awesome, plus, for us Nebraskans, we enjoyed having the sliding door open.
This home is nicely furnished! Beds are comfortable and there were plenty of towels. We are now searching for our winter getaway & haven't found anything close to this home! We highly recommend this Kailua home. Thank you for sharing your home with all of us!

The house exceeded all of our expectations!
Loved It! Everything was flawless from check in to check out. My family and I could not have been more pleased with our stay and look forward to staying there again. The house was immaculate and any concern I had about staying in a residential area versus a resort style property was put to rest within 30 seconds of walking though the front door. It felt like a resort property! You can wake up and be on beach or anywhere in Kailua town within minutes or totally enjoy staying in because of the house itself and pool. So glad we stayed there!

Amazing home with great views, easy access everywhere
Loved staying at this property. View was amazing, close to beaches and easy access to roads to both Waikiki and North Shore drives.
Kailua town was fun with many new restaurants and shops opening up (go to Grace in Growlers for self serve craft beer).
Owner Curtis and Jackie were very easy to work with and was available immediately when a question arose. Pool was fun and hot tub made relaxing after golf and scuba diving easy.
Great property and will definitely return.

A Great Vacation Home
We were a group of 6 adults that rented this beautiful home for 10 days in January. The house is very spacious and clean with beautiful flooring, counters, furniture and entertainment system. The three bedrooms are all on the second floor with a bathroom attached to two of each. The 3rd bathroom is located on the main floor off the kitchen area. So each couple had their own bedroom/bathroom space. The home is very well equipped with dishes, cutlery, knives, pots and pans, beach towels etc. The first day we stocked up on groceries at Costco in Honolulu (20 min drive) and then replenished the little stuff from Safeway in Kailua (3 min drive). There were a few spices available to use, including big containers of salt and pepper, but as mentioned in a previous review, no salt and pepper shakers. The ice maker does in fact work, just does not dispense the ice from the door. Honestly, it was no big deal to open the freezer door to grab the ice :) We enjoyed BBQing most of our meals, although the BBQ itself could use a good cleaning or in need of replacement parts. We made Curtis aware of this, so I'm sure future renters will not have an issue.
The back yard and pool area is very large and provides a great mixture of sun and shade. By mid afternoon, most of the pool area was shaded, but keep in mind we were there in early January, so later in the season there will likely be more direct sun. Tristan (the pool guy) stopped by a couple of times to attend to the pool/spa. He was very pleasant and courteous and we enjoyed visiting with him while he went about his duties. Thank you, Tristan!
Kailua is a great place if you want to distance yourself from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki/Honolulu, but yet a short drive to spend a few hours or the day. There's literally dozens of beaches and sight seeing areas within a five to ten minute drive from the house. The house is located in a very quiet area and traffic noise is never an issue.
Finally, Curtis was great to deal with. He was always quick to respond to emails or texts when we had questions. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your beautiful home and thank you very much!

Fabulous Home Away from Home
We were a family of five, my 82 year old father, my sister and brother-in law, and myself and my husband (we are all in our 50s). The house is beautiful, spacious living spaces, my dad loved the media room and watching movies, and we played pool every evening. As it is winter now we did not really swim in the pool, just took a dip after a spa, the spa was so relaxing. The master suite is spacious and quiet and the views are quite breathtaking. We all enjoyed having our own bathrooms. Curtis was always available to answer any questions we had. We ate in a lot and had many a night around the dining room table. It was so convenient having Safeway less than a mile away. None of us had been to the island in about 30 years, and had never stayed on the Windward side. But it was often gloomy at the house, and clear at the beaches (again probably just time of the year, whenever we went to Waikiki for example it was clear and much warmer), but we would rather have this beautiful house to come home to after a long day. We stayed Xmas week, and it was expensive (as is everything on the island at this time of year), but because we did pay a premium we did have some little annoyances (not that they would have stopped me staying there again!). One of the bedrooms is attached by a door to the rental space above the garage, my sister could not sleep because (in her words) she could hear every word, the TV, them brushing their teeth, getting going in the morning etc. etc. She is a very light sleeper. So we decided to switch bedrooms with her and while my husband and I could hear them they didn't bother us, just something to note for a light sleeper. There are plenty of ear plugs in the side table, but they did not help her. The BBQ could do with being replaced in my opinion, it was very dirty (which we burned off as best we could), but also hard to start. We only used it once. We would have appreciated some little touches in the kitchen, salt and pepper shakers, coffee, more bath towels, paper towels, toilet paper, so that we did not have to replenish? But maybe I am too fussy :-) The ice-maker in the fridge does not work. We were there NYs eve and if we come back again at this time of year we will stay home and watch all the local fireworks they were amazing! We went to Waikiki for dinner and to watch the fireworks from there which were also good, but not as convenient as having them on your doorstep! All in all we loved our week here!

EXTRAORDINARY!!!
This property looks beautiful in the photos, but honestly, the photos cannot do justice to this extraordinary home. Beyond the lovely finishes and appointments (you'll want to renovate your bathrooms the minute you get home!), the home is so well maintained and provisioned.....high quality plates, glasses, pots and pans, kitchen utensils, beach towels, snorkeling gear, pool toys, beach toys, an efficient washer and dryer. Nothing has been overlooked!
We stayed with our children and grandchildren July 9-16, 2016. We spent hours and hours in that gorgeous pool and spa...the toys were a big hit with young and old! And we had plenty of time for hiking, trips to the North Shore (try skydiving with Skydive Hawaii), Pearl Harbor, Waikiki, Honolulu, etc.. Sunrise from the master bedroom balcony is not to be missed (the balcony is perfect for yoga or meditation...gentle scents of plumeria in the breeze). And did I mention the gorgeous rainbows?(Hawaii lived up to its reputation as 'the rainbow state"!) We cooked breakfasts every morning for the whole gang and grilled out for some dinners (gas grill provided).
Curtis is an extraordinary homeowner. Although there is a detailed list of how to use much of the technology (TV, wifi, spa), Curtis is readily available by phone or text....very warm and responsive when we had questions before we booked and while we were in Kailua. He seems to take well deserved pride in this home, and you will also want to care for it lovingly.
A few reviews have mentioned parking and an adjacent tenant. We never heard the pool company trucks coming or going, and the right side of the drive (where renters are asked to park) easily accommodates 2 cars. There is also street parking. Folks in one of the three bedrooms were only occasionally aware of the tenant. Curtis requests a 9pm quiet time for renters and the tenant. Days are so full that it's easy to do!
Kailua is a perfect spot to call home on Oahu. The street is in a quiet residential neighborhood, with nearby gorgeous beaches (get to Lanakai Beach early for free public parking), lovely shopping and lots of dining options. Kailua food stores and Target make for easy provisioning. Don't miss the Farmers' Market near Whole Foods on Thursday evenings (great dinner options and music)
The only question remaining is when (not if) we return. Kailua is a great location, and this home is spectacular!
Thank you for everything, Curtis! Can't wait to return!!

Spotless, as good as it looks in the photo's, devine pool and spa !!
Fantastic holiday for us as a family we wanted quality time together and this house supplied space, comfort, and top of the range style. The property was spotless and well maintained. The owner Curtis was on hand if we needed him. We did see the gardeners and pool cleaners, only briefly to undertake their necessary duties, pleasant hard working guys, they were in and out and helpful with minor issues.
This home is unbelievable, great lounge area, comfortable beds, superb kitchen -all modern appliances, marble bathrooms, huge pool, hot spa, fantastic home we all loved it. Not far away was the awesome beach of Kailua with its breathe taking crystal clear beach water, great park, white sand, beaut foodie stops close to the beach. The area Kailua is quiet, clean, & has all you would require (shops, super markets, night markets etc). Highly recommend this house we had a great time, Thank you Curtis and Jackie.

Honeymoon Heaven
My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon. Our goal was to escape the overcrowded tourist beaches of Waikiki, but to find a town big enough to have shops and restaurants. Kailua was the perfect choice. [Be sure to visit the farmer's market on Thursday nights for cheap, local cuisine]. The house was in a wonderful residential area that was close to the beach and the town square without having streets lined with tourists walking around. As is evident from the pictures, the pool and hot tub are amazing as was the master bedroom and bath.
Curtis had also added comfy theater seats in the family room, which was great for a quiet night in. We didn't do a lot of cooking, but the kitchen is fully equipped for all kinds of cooking needs. Curtis was very easy to get in touch with to answer our questions and to ensure that our stay was perfect. He checked in with us the day before our arrival and when our plane touched down to ensure that everything was ready for us.
Also, while there are renters living above the garage, we never saw them or heard them. The house was completely private and with the exception of their car, I would have never known they were there. We also never heard the guys accessing the pool equipment in the garage, so do not let those concerns keep you from staying at this property.
I would absolutely look into staying at this property again. It had exceptional views, and was wonderfully maintained. It had resort quality without the hassle of having to deal with all of the other vacationers. Do keep in mind that as with all rentals in Kailua, you would need to rent a car. However, this is a perfect getaway in paradise and I can't wait to get back to it. Curtis has an amazing house and we loved every minute of our time there!

About the host
Hosted by Curtis & Jackie Ague
I am a retired airline captain of 22 years for Aloha Airlines. I continue to fly and have my own airplane in Hawaii for pleasure. I have also been a pool contractor in Hawaii for 20 years. I travel between San Diego my home town and Hawaii regularly.
Why they chose this property
This was an old home that needed to be restored or torn down. I chose to start over and we built a new home on this property in 2008. We took advantage of the view by building a two story over looking the pool. We did not have a spa so we added one in the center of the large existing pool.
What makes this property unique
The best feature besides that the home is new, the location is great. My wife, Jackie, and I decorated the house in an island theme. It is an open, bright and inviting sanctuary. Safeway and various shops are 2 min. down the hill into Kailua town. Everything is very close. The beach is only 5 min. away. Kailua is one of the most desirable vacation areas in all Hawaii.
