About this property

Willow Run true Mid-Century Modern in Beautiful Palm Springs

Welcome to Willow Run, built in 1959, extensively renovated in 2013, and perfected in 2014. A supreme example of the iconic Palmer and Krisel design, built by the Alexander Construction Company, located in the heart of historic Racquet Club Estates in Palm Springs.

Care about the environment? Me too! Willow Run is solar powered, taking full advantage of the beautiful desert environment and doing its small part to reduce the electrical demands in the greater Palm Springs area.

Enjoy outdoor living at its very best with magnificent unobstructed views of the San Jacinto Mountains that are equally dramatic at sunrise and sunset. The saltwater pool and spa, fire pit, gas grill, manicured yard and covered patio area provide many options for enjoying the sheer beauty of the desert.

An equally peaceful interior awaits you as well. With three bedrooms and two-baths, this layout comfortably sleeps six. The master Suite sports a king size bed and direct access to back yard with private sitting area for morning coffee. Second bedroom has queen size bed, and third bedroom has a king / twin bed convertable. All bedrooms have luxurious linens and large closets, and there is a full sized washer dryer for convenience.

Willow Run, exclusively listed on VRBO and ABB , has an entirely new kitchen with new stainless steel appliances and an island where everyone can gather. The new cabinetry is well stocked with dishes, flatware, and all the pots, pans and utensils one would need to create anything from basic burgers on the grill to something more gourmet for a special occasion.

One of the nicest features of the floor plan is the addition of a true dining room adjacent to the open kitchen. It provides a touch of formality if a proper sit-down meal is on the agenda.

The living room is an open concept that incorporates the beautiful outdoors and embodies the indoor/outdoor aspects of these classic floor plans. The views of the serene back yard and pool are only topped by the amazing mountain views thru the clerestory windows over the kitchen and dining areas. A 55” HD flat screen with extensive cable package is available for your enjoyment, and Hi-speed Wi-Fi is also provided. The furniture is both comfortable and classic in its design, ideal for hanging out with friends and family. Additionally, the gas fireplace provides a wonderful ambiance for the cool desert nights.

The art in Willow Run was selected to compliment the interior, reflect the history of Palm Springs and some of its historic images and characters, and also provide a little clue as to the naming of the house.

Enjoy!
Paul and Willow

Activities:
Palm Springs truly does offer a full plate of year round activities.

Like to golf? (me too!) Well, you are in the right place. There are over a hundred and twenty courses in the desert cities offering numerous options appropriate to any skill level from a beginner to a tour pro. There are several courses within a ten-minute drive from Willow Run, making it extremely convenient to enjoy an early round and get back to the pool for a lazy afternoon.

Racquet Club Estates was founded around the historic tennis club, and tennis remains a very important part of the desert athletic and cultural scene.

Other athletic endeavors would include horseback riding, biking and mountain biking, swimming, and hiking in the mountains. Do remember that extra bottle of water though!

The tram to the top of the mountain is a Must Do when visiting the desert. The views from about 9,000 feet are impressive to say the least!

Shopping the mid-century shops along Palm Canyon drive is certainly fun, and you will find spas, libraries, movie theaters, even casinos, all very close to Willow Run. The outlets at Cabazon are always popular; about 20 minutes away by car. (Hello Prada outlet!!!)

More Local Info:
Palm Springs has many restaurants ranging from fun to fancy, so you will easily find a few to suit your taste. It is a “dining out” culture, so I would recommend you get reservations at wherever you chose. (Yes, even at Lulu and Las Casuelas.) Actually, especially at these two spots!!!

There are several terrific grocery stores nearby, including an Albertson’s that is literally 5 minutes away. Stocking the refrigerator for your stay won’t be a problem!

One can also find churches and synagogues close by.

The desert and surrounding cities have many world famous events, sporting, pop, and cultural in nature.

There are several professional golf tournaments featuring the PGA, LPGA, and Sr. PGA tours. There is BNP Paribas Tennis Tournament that is one of the most popular stops on that tour annually.
Mid Century Modernism Week has become a destination event for anyone interested in this important period of American design. Tours, lectures, and many “insider” events highlight this week.

The Palm Springs International Film Festival is one of the most prestigious and well-attended film festivals in the country. Offering twelve days of film screenings, presentations, tributes, on-stage celebrity interviews and nightly parties.

The Palm Springs Village Fest is another Must Do. Where every Thursday evening Downtown Palm Springs transforms into a diverse array of artists, artisans, entertainers, and purveyors of fresh fruits and veggies, flowers, jewelry, snacks and sweets.

And lets not forget The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival that features several days of up and coming bands and mega-head liner bands that is widely considered one of the most important music events held anywhere in the world. Stagecoach, another very important music festival, follows on the heels of Coachella every year.

In short, relax and do little, or pack in the activities. The choice is yours!

Mid-century Modern Gem
We could not have been more pleased with our stay at Willow Run. The house is clean and beautiful, with several lovely modernism gems decorating the place throughout. It was well-stocked with everything we could need. We drove to Joshua Tree National Park one day and used the cooler and picnic supplies provided. There is a gas grill for BBQ and a pool/spa combo in the back yard. Our pool took a day to come to the right temp but our hosts were very responsive to us and made sure to get it working correctly. The neighborhood is quiet and safe and has a number of famous Mid-century Modern homes nearby. The property is close to the airport, downtown and the other Palm Springs communities. All four of us would definitely stay there again.

Nice place
Relaxing experience and nice view of the mountains from the pool. Host Michael and Ty were exceptionally responsive and WONDERFUL. Bedrooms are comfortable and house and kitchen are well furnished. Minor items: Directions for tv were challenging. Flushing mechanisms in toilets could be updated. Limited storage in bathrooms and the middle bedroom.

Palm Springs Stay
Very nice house, with great pool and spa. Nice quiet location. Everything was as advertised. Great meeting with the property manager Jimee - she allowed us to check in early to accommodate picking up our kids at the airport.

Great house and location
Everything about the property was spot on! It was well supplied, clean, good central location, and had an excellent views of the mountains. We could have used a little more explanation on how to heat the pool and hot tub (just a minor blip we eventually figured out!). The bathrooms with full showers were a welcome bonus :) !

Great views and wonderful outdoor space
This house was great for the three of us and the online photos are an exact representation of what you can expect. The best part are the views of the mountains and the very nice patio and well maintained yard. It has a nice covered area in case you need to get out of the sun. Beds were comfortable and the kitchen had most everything you would need with a nice supply of condiments. One item to note especially if you were three couples is the third bedroom has twin beds and cannot be converted to a king so is misrepresented in the description which says "third bedroom has a king / twin bed convertible". We even inquired about this in advance but was not given this information. Other than this, we would recommend this as a great place to stay.

Palm Springs Perfection!
There is no better place to get rid of the Winter blues! The gorgeous view of the mountains from the hot tub at sunrise is almost reason enough to experience Willow Run. The thoughtfully designed interior kept true to the house's mid-century style while offering every amenity of home. The meticulously maintained yards, the hot tub, heated pool and fire pit made enjoying the outdoors a treat from sunup to sundown. We loved having an entire house to ourselves for our stay. I am not sure we can ever enjoy staying in a hotel again! The house is conveniently located near downtown shopping and restaurants, the airport and major highways. A great bonus for out-of-towners like us. We highly recommend staying at Willow Run!

Sanctuary - Thanksgiving to remember
This home is so special. Not only is it decorated in true spirit of Palm Springs, but it is also comfortable, relaxing and nothing short of special. We stayed in Palm Springs for Thanksgiving, and had members of our club participating in a Field Hockey tournament. We invited the team over for Thanksgiving dinner, and hosted a special holiday feast for the team, their parents and grandparents. The home was perfect. Amazing views from every room in the home. The mountains are framed from the windows in the kitchen, we watched snow falling on the mountains as we had coffee in the backyard sitting on the pool lounge chairs. The lighting and colors in Palm Springs feel like life in high def colors. This home is perfect, playful, relaxing, private and so special. Cannot wait to go back!

Family Holiday
Great house in a great location! Great layout and spacing in the house except for the bathrooms which were really small. The management company and Ty were great and easy to work with. The house is fairly well stocked, but could use a few "throws" as it was cold during our visit. The only issue we had was with heating the pool. The pool boy told us both the pool and spa couldn't be heated at the same time. With high temps at 60 both needed super charged heaters to be usable, so we only used the spa. All in all, a nice stay. My family loved the décor!

Great Family Vacation
We really enjoyed our stay at Willow Run. We spent lots of time in the back yard in the pool and spa, swimming in the sunshine and the moonlight. The house has everything you need to be comfortable, cool, and well fed. The beds were comfortable. The yard was immaculate. I enjoyed having the airplanes fly overhead. I didn't find it too noisy at all, and they didn't come that frequently or that late in the evening. Lots of great TV channels to choose from (and even a PVR to record a show or two that you don't want to miss while on vacation). We went downtown to eat a few times (highly recommend Cheeky's for breakfast and Koffi for a great latte), did the Villagefest, went on the tram, shopped at the outlet malls in Cabazon and The River in Rancho Mirage, took the kids to Boomers and the Living Desert Zoo, and watched some LPGA golf in Rancho Mirage. The area is so easy to drive and get to places. The street was very quiet and there is a nice park just a couple of blocks away with nice playground equipment. Grocery stores are close by too. Ty was very accommodating, and even extended our check-out until 2pm the day we left. I would highly recommend this property and wouldn't hesitate one bit to stay there again. Here's hoping the Canadian dollar rebounds in time for our next visit!

Enjoyed by all!
What an amazing time we had at Willow Run. The pictures don't do it justice. A mod, clean, yet warm and inviting home. We were content just relaxing poolside and enjoying the view. Our five year old asked if this could "always be our vacation home?" Ty and Mike were helpful & delightful to work with. This home is well maintained & managed.

Mid century modern at it's best
We were in Palm Springs to go to the BNP Paribas Tennis Tournament in Indian Wells. We picked the house on VRBO because it looked wonderful on line and less expensive than being by the tournament. It is a wonderfully well kept up house with all the amenities. When in the house, we spent most of our time by the pool including meals. Covered patio so no worries about being in the 90 degree sun. Only negative, no dining table on the patio. Ty, the propery manager was extremely helpful. We defintely would stay there again.

Wonderful home and property management team
We stayed at Willow Run for a week in late January 2015. The home, pool, spa, grounds, and amenities were spectacular. Ty and the property team were excellent as well. Upon arrival, the pool and spa were heated so we could enjoy both on our first night. We had NO PROBLEMS with anything and the location was GREAT! Should we return to PS, we will definitely rent this home again.

Excellent vacation destination
We had the privilege of staying at Willow Run for two weeks in late November and early December. We spent the Thanksgiving holiday there with our family. We particularly enjoyed the pool, patio, and yard. Although it was late November (very cold and snowy on the East Coast), we were able to spend a lot of time by the pool. The pool and yard are absolutely wonderful. The landscaping must have taken a lot of effort and planning. We also appreciated the location. The house is very close to downtown Palm Springs, where there are many stores, bars, and restaurants. It is also close to other great shopping areas. One of the many things we liked about Willow Run is the owners have made it possible to rent on different days. We were not limited to a Saturday to Saturday stay. We are truly looking forward to returning.

Relaxing and fun get-away
Willow Run is gorgeous and spectacularly furnished. Our girls weekend was so much fun. We took advantage of the proximity to hiking and to downtown restaurants and bars and enjoyed relaxing by the pool. One night we stayed in, grilled, and hung out in the hot tub because the house is too fabulous not to enjoy. The mid-century modern look along with luxurious touches like the towels and linens made this house perfect for our weekend get-away. Most importantly, the treatment we received after complaining about the air-conditioning (the AC started making a loud noise) was beyond expectations. Ty, the property manager, responded immediately and had the AC fixed within NO TIME. For our minor inconvenience, the owner treated us to dinner - the equivalent of one free night. We were all impressed and plan to return.

Spectacular house with amazing amenities and views
This house is just spectacular! Everything about it is just perfect from the mid-century furniture to the incredibly well-stocked kitchen. The outdoor patio, pool and grill are great for cocktails and hanging out. The Bose sound system is fantastic! The yard is beautifully landscaped and private and there are views of the mountains from almost everywhere you look. The linens are very luxurious and the bathrooms are spa-like! The location could not be any better. It is close to shops, restaurants, hiking trails and golf. I’ve been renting vacation houses in racquet club estates for years and this house is at the top of this list. I highly recommend it.

Perfect Palm Springs Escape
We've been vacationing in Palm Springs for 10 years and Willow Run is the perfect home away from home. The kitchen is stocked with high-end appliances, utensils, cookware, etc. The bedrooms and bathrooms are very comfortable; everyone fell in love with the lush towels. The outdoor areas are well maintained and beautifully landscaped. The view of the mountains is spectacular. This is not your usual rental property. It’s obvious a lot of effort has been put into making this home the perfect escape. We will be back! Highly recommend to all.

Relaxing, Immaculate, Great Location
We stayed here over the July 4th weekend 2014. The Willow Run house is in perfect condition, great art, classic mid century furniture yet still very comfortable, relaxing and welcoming. On July 4th,we drove 5 minutes to play golf at Escena golf club early morning, then relaxed in the pool during the hottest part of the day then returned to Escena for an amazing bbq and fireworks display. The day was so festive and perfect. The next day we took a morning hike at a trial near the downtown area, hung out in the pool all afternoon and watched a spectacular sunset from the backyard. The view of the mountains is incredible in the way that the sun bounces light and changes colors both in the morning and evening. This is an ideal property for a weekend or longer stay and a true Palm Springs experience. Ty is a great property manager, we didn't have any issues but he left us a very nice welcome note. There were only 2 of us but the house is big enough to comfortably sleep 6.

Perfect Getaway!
Upon arrival we were blown away by how the pictures simply don't do the place justice. The house is fantastic and the views are just breathtaking. Furniture and decor of Willow Run harkens back to Bob Hope, Sinatra and your favorite umbrella drink. Just 5 minutes from everything! We can't wait to visit again next year!
