About this property

Eagletree Cottage -Secluded waterfront tranquility with spectacular view

Fall asleep to the sound of waves, just feet from your doorstep. Seals, otters, bald-headed eagles and the occasional orca pod have all been sighted from the front deck. The cottage is a 1200 sq ft, two story, open plan building, with one main bedroom, kitchen, dining room and bathroom (shower only) on the main floor. The upper level is a loft, without inside walls. There are two beds in the upper space.
There is wifi, cable TV, phone, a propane stove, microwave, coffee maker and most of the amenities of home.
A kayaker's paradise, with extensive hiking and biking trails and quiet lakes for swimming or fishing, Quadra Island is a natural wonder. There are also several high end restaurants, a vinyard, two small shopping centres and many artisans who have home galleries that open in the summer.

Great waterfront cottage on Quadra
Our first time there, but certainly not the last. The cottage is spacious and bright, right across the pebble beach looking at Marina and Cortes islands. Barry and Adrienne are the perfect hosts, they waited for us at the ferry, gave us lot of info about the island and things to do, and in general were a pleasure to talk to. Happy we found this place!

Amazing place and wonderful hosts!
We loved our stay on beautiful Quadra Island! The house is a cozy cabin with amazing views of the ocean and snow-capped mountains in the distance. It is in a great location - close to the beach and a nearby hiking trail, and a short drive away from other hikes, groceries and restaurants. And on top of it all, Barry and Adrianne are wonderful and generous hosts! They met us on arrival to show us how to navigate the private road to the property. Then upon learning that one of us is a dedicated cold-water ocean swimmer, they kindly offered to take us swimming at a favourite spot along Discovery Pass, and even gave us welcome feedback about our swim strokes! So fun. And they recommended a hike to beautiful Morte Lake, where we swam in crystal clear waters on a hot sunny day, without another soul in sight - one of the highlights of the entire year we have spent in BC. Highly recommended - thanks Barry and Adrianne for your hospitality, and we hope to be back!

Waterfront cabin on private road
Stayed 5 nights. Hosts were awesome, location is very quiet and views are breathtaking. We saw three whales swim past as well. Beach is rocky as is much of the island so can be a bit tricky with little ones but tidal pools keep them occupied for days. Cabin is big, simple and clean, no frills just essentials, plus internet and smart TV. Upstairs has two beds and amazing views too. We used the downstairs room for the kids as the ladder was too steep for them to climb. Overall highly recommended! Loved our stay.

Perfect Summer Holiday Getaway
Eagletree cottage is a wonderful place to relax and unwind. The view from the deck is just sensational and the cottage is comfortable with huge windows looking out to see. The hosts were amazing and made sure that we had everything we needed and provided excellent valuable local knowledge. We can't wait to go back!

Serenity On Quadra Island
My husband and I spent five days at Eagletree Cottage and wished we could have stayed longer. The house is only about 50 feet from the water and has an incredible view. Sit on the deck with a glass of wine watching the water change colors as the sun sets and all your cares will melt away. We are planning to return next summer.

Wonderful place for relaxation with with best view on the island
We stayed at the Eagletree Cottage for a week this summer and couldn't have loved it more. Located at the end of a private road with the beach at your fingertips and expansive views from every room in the house. We awoke every morning to spectacular sunrises and the sounds of humpback whales breathing and splashing in the water just off our shore. Barry and his wife were very welcoming and clearly wanted to ensure we got the most out of our time on Quadra. We will 100% be planning another trip to this property in the future.

Wonderful whale watching!
We had a fabulous stay. Favorite part of the stay? Kayaking out front of the cottage and watching a whale breach in front of us! Loved this rustic, beachfront cabin with the comfy beds and great porch. Our hosts were very friendly-they brought us a bowl of lovely veggies from their garden. They gave us great tips on hikes and things to do.

The Best View on Quadra island!
Eagletree Cottage is the place to stay on Quadra. Totally private, secluded and with an astounding view of the ocean and mountains. The cottage has everything you need, but you will spend most of your time on the large deck or strolling the beach. We spent our 25th wedding anniversary there and couldn't have chosen a better spot to relax. Barry and Adrianne were great hosts, provided all the information we needed and then melted away and left us to it, just as the perfect hosts should. Kayaking around Heriot Island with Quadra Island Kayaks was a great way to spend half a day, as was hiking to the top of Chinese Mountain for truly incredible views. Just one disappointment, not related at all to Eagletree Cottage. AVOID the Heriot Bay Inn for dinner. Hugely overpriced for unexceptional food and a very poor attitude on the part of management. We asked for a good table to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary dinner and was given one on the deck overlooking the bay. Unfortunately, the wooden railing at eye level completely obscures the view while sitting: idiotic design! My wife ordered scallops for appetiser - $18 for two scallops cut up into smaller pieces and served with bacon. Since my wife does not eat meat we asked for something different. The management said it was our mistake "for not reading the menu properly" and we were charged for the scallops as well as for the fishcakes I ordered ($14) and the steamed mussels ordered as a replacement ($15). Since the latter were served late, the waitress (who was very good, embarrassed and apologetic) was obliged to serve our main courses before my wife had finished her starter "because the management said they were ready". My corn-crusted rockfish ($23) was dry and tasteless. My wife's halibut ($39) was a miniscule slice of fish, half an inch thick and about 2 inches square, presented without seasoning on a small bed of lentils in tomato sauce. $39????? The total bill, including one beer, one glass of wine (discounted) and a tip to the very good waitress was $141. I'd have gladly paid +$200 for decent and adequate food if the management had, even in the slightest way, recognised our special occasion. Rather, the opposite was true and I'm making my opinion public on the travel forums: Heriot Bay Inn - stay away!! Again, no reflection at all on Eagletree which was SUPERB. Thanks Barry and Adrianne. Wonderful cottage on the water
We had a fabulous 3 night get-away in this amazing Quadra Island cottage. Mornings and evenings were spectacular times to just sit and drink in the changing water views. Humpback whales, eagles, mink, loons, murrelets and many woodland birds provided endless entertainment. Barry and Adrienne were wonderful hosts. We'll be back.

Great place to stay, wonderful view, very quiet & peaceful, easy access to the Island
This is a very nice cabin with a great view - we enjoyed sun rises and moon rises and cool breezes when the temperature rose on the other side of the island. We are 2 couples used to traveling together who kayak and explore. It was easy to cook and eat meals together, both inside and on the deck. There were plenty of birds and other wildlife to watch, also boat traffic (far enough away to not be bothered by noise). We recommend bringing a good set of binoculars. The owners were extremely helpful, providing information about the island, and even bringing us extra forks and a blender. The barbeque on the deck could use a new burner. We all enjoyed our stay, would love to return and would recommend to others.

Incredible views, fantastic outdoor adventures, even great fine dining nearby!
Eagle Tree Cottage has been a wonderful vacation escape for me from city life for me over the last 8 years. Every visit there has brought new discoveries and adventure. Returning to this 'home away from home' never grows old. The cottage home itself is large enough to give multiple travellers plenty of privacy while providing an open yet cozy living and entertaining room area around a real wood stove owner Barry Davis always makes sure there is plenty of cut wood for romantics ;-) in the back-yard area). The kitchen has enough tools, pots and pans, gadgets and place settings to make putting 'home cooked' meals together a pleasure. After all, you always have that wonderful view of Hecate Straight to look at as you're blending that start-of-the-day smoothie---or bbq-ing a thick salmon steak in the evening (Quadra boasts several well stocked grocery/liquor stores so food choice is never a problem). Eagle Tree Cottage has both tv and wifi, but really, I doubt you'll use either---there is just too much to do all around Quadra Island. If you love the water (I'm a swimmer, and Eagle Tree owner Barry Davis and his wife Adrianne have taken me from fresh water mountain lakes to open water swimming at Rebecca Spit and the Discovery Channel), marine life (watch killer whales glide right by your window! And eagles, everywhere…), fishing, golfing, biking, kayaking or hiking up to panoramas that give you 180+ degree views (from the West Coast's Coastal Mountains to the fishing town of Campbell River), you will love the access that Eagle Tree Cottage affords you to some of some of the best vacation adventures in British Columbia. Of course, you can just spend the day lazing on the deck with a glass of wine and a book, while watching the water and everything that happens on it. You’ll admire some of the other islands in the Discovery chain, while the snow-capped Coastal Mountains of the British Columbia mainland rise behind them. It’s a backdrop that just adds to the surrealistic beauty of the place. There are many great amenities within a short drive of the house, too: Coffee at Cafe Aroma, several pubs, yoga, a local home gym, the spa at April Point, and superb fine dining at Gowland Harbour. Whether you are looking for a sporty, multi-adventure vacation or just a serene, peacful place in order to wind down and launder your mind of everyday cares, I highly recommend that you check out Eagle Tree Cottage as your base of operations while on Quadra Island.
