About this property

Great Cabin, Great Rates, Great Location, Great Views of the Great Smoky Mtns.

Did we say 'great' enough? It's all true. Everyone that stays here says they love this cabin. And the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is well... Great.

Number 6 Chalet recently finished a full top to bottom, inside and out renovation. This is the sixth property that we have renovated in the Chalet Village resort. Usually, when are working on a cabin we find its most distinctive feature and use that to come up with its name. While we were working on this cabin, there were just so many great features that we just could not come up with that perfect name that could properly describe all of the unique features that we put into this chalet. During the renovation, everybody started referring to this cabin as 'Number 6', since it was our sixth. In the end, we stuck with the name decided to call it Number 6 Cabin, a combination of it's own unique character and everything that we have learned from the five that came before it.

The result of the renovation on Number 6 Chalet is a very comfortable vacation chalet which combines modern comfort and convenience with the rustic charm that its developers created 50 years ago. We know that you will enjoy your vacation here and want to come back season after season and year after year.

Number 6 Chalet has three floors. The lower floor is the game room and bar area. It has a full size pool table and lounge area with plenty of seating. There is a wood burning fireplace at one end of the game room with a 55 inch television mounted over it. In the bar area, there is a wet bar with a beverage refrigerator. The bar area has a 40 inch smart television. The sofa in the bar area converts into a very comfortable full size bed. This floor offers a full bathroom with a shower. There is also a full size washer and dryer located on this floor. The lower floor has hardwood flooring except the bathroom which is tile.

The second floor has a very comfortable living room with sofa, loveseat, and recliner chair. There is a wood burning fireplace in the living room with a 50 inch smart television mounted over the fireplace. The dining room has a very large wooden table which can seat 8 or more people comfortably. The beautiful kitchen has stainless appliances. There is a master bedroom with a king bed and 40 inch smart television on this floor along with a full bathroom with tub and shower. The second floor has hardwood flooring throughout except for the bathroom, which is tile. There are excellent views of the mountains from the living room and dining room. There is a wrap around deck on this floor which has a dining table, deck chairs, and a hot tub with great mountain views.

The upper floor master bedroom has a king bed and a lounger. The master opens onto a private covered balcony which has one of the most spectacular views in the Smoky Mountains. It offers an unobstructed full on view of Mt. Le Conte and the Great Smoky Mountains national park. There are deck chairs provided where you can relax 'between the bears rain or shine. There is a 40 inch smart television in this bedroom. The rear bedroom has two queen beds in it and includes a 40 inch smart television. There is a full bathroom on this floor which has a tub and shower. This floor is hardwood throughout except for the bathroom which is tile.

Entertainment - For those times when you want to just kick back and chill, Number 6 Chalet has state of the art entertainment. Each room has a Smart TV. Each of the bedrooms and the bar area have a 40 inch screen while the living room has a 50 inch screen. In the game room, there is 55 inch screen over the fireplace. Each of these televisions are WI-FI connected and offer Smart Apps such as Netflix, HULU, Amazon, and hundreds more. We offer high speed (300+ Mb/s) Internet so you can stream to your WI-FI connected devices without a hitch. Every TV has available HDMI inputs so you can bring your game console or streaming device if you want. We also provide Blu-Ray/DVD players which can be hooked to any of the televisions if you want to bring your favorite discs.

Note that we no longer offer any cable access. Due to the increased prices of cable and the lack of interest by our guests, we have cut the cord on cable. This was a very high price that we were passing on to a small amount of guests that were actually using it. All TV's have many free streaming options including Pluto TV. In most cases, guests can log in to their own streaming subscriptions. All TVs include Apple and Google cast.

Driving - Please note that Chalet Village is located on the side of a mountain above the City of Gatlinburg. Access to this area is by steep mountain roads. The roads are generally in excellent shape, even during the winter ski season. The driveway at Number 6 Chalet is only about 25 feet long, but it is steep. It is accessible by most vehicles. Cars with very low ground clearance (think Corvette) may drag at the entrance to the street and are not recommended. Trailers are also not recommended. If you have a trailer, let us know and we can arrange an alternate parking spot for it. Vehicles with slick tires or no tread may not be able to access this cabin. There is good flat parking with turn around at the top of the driveway. There is parking for a maximum of three vehicles. Some of our guests who are not used to driving in the mountains do experience 'driveway panic' the first time the see the driveway. Usually, after they have driven up a time or two they become pros. We have had hundreds of different vehicles at the cabin and only one or two that were too low to make it.

Great Getaway

The home (and surrounding neighborhood) was quiet, cozy, and clean. All who stayed slept well and the home was stocked with all necessary supplies (pots/pans very scratched if you eat in and this concerns you with cookware). Host was very easy to communicate with and even sent a quick message to notify us when the house was ready for our arrival, which was very convenient since we were driving from out of state and meeting family also traveling from out of state. Steep Driveway was no issue for both vehicles. Overall, a perfect stay! Highly recommend and I will definitely look for availability here on our next trip to the area.

Unforgettable memories at the cabin

Carol and Tim were great hosts, very friendly and receptive to our needs. I will definitely recommend to others to stay at their Cabin that you feel cozy and as a home away from home. The view was stunning. We loved Gatlinburg and the cabin even though its up in the mountain, its close to everything. Thank you!

Family getaway

We had a fabulous time in the number 6 chalet with our adult kids. We saw bears daily, loved the gorgeous view of Mt LeConte from the deck and slept like a charm in the comfy beds after long days hiking and sightseeing.

Fantastic Thanksgiving Retreat!

This was the perfect cabin for me and my six family members who enjoyed Thanksgiving week in Gatlinburg! Fireplaces on two levels, a hot tub, a nice, large dining room table and views that could be in any magazine made this visit magical for my family! The hosts have incredible communication and were eager to make our stay comfortable and problem free. We will DEFINITELY want to stay here again when we return to the Gatlinburg area! Hint: Drive up to the ski area and park. Take the gondola down into town and enjoy Gatlinburg, then ride the gondola back up. NO traffic to fight when going to Gatlinburg!

Very nice and spacious place

We enjoyed the stay very much. We had three generations, and there was room for everyone. Grandma had a bit of trouble with all the stairs, and it was hard to find, but once we figured that out it was very nice.

Most Beautiful View

Our family had the most incredible stay because of the view and location of this home. The property is clean, large and well equipped with everything you’ll need. Best of all it comes with a spectacular view of Gaitlenburg and Mr. LaConte and is a 5 minute drive to the Gaitlenburg trailhead.

Driveway extremely steep, parking area was confusing for tenant next door, many stairs made it difficult for one member to enjoy the whole property. Property well-stocked with styloid, beautiful decor, comfortable. Owners exceptional.

View

Impressive view from top bedroom. Nice stay. Wasn't at house much due to a wedding, but enjoyable. Only downside to stay is the driveway was a very steep grade added the steep grade that properties are built on, challenging at times.

Spacious Cabin with everything needed for stay and awesome views!

We stayed at Cabin 6 for 5 days in July. The cabin was clean and spacious and had everything we needed to make it a comfortable stay. The view is spectacular- it was great to wake up looking at the smoky mountains!! We saw a Bear down the street the first night of our stay! We took our dog for walk down the street and met a friendly couple who ended up being the owners, Carol and Tim. Definitely recommend Cabin 6 for families and those who enjoy the best of the National park and the City of Gatlinburg!

Beautiful Property in a perfect location!

This cabin is absolutely beautiful! Perfect for a family vacation! The owners are the nicest people you’ll ever meet. The cabin has a 3 levels, hot tub, grill, pool table, 2 fireplaces, decks on 3 levels with incredible views of the mountains. Multiple Interior windows/doors on main floor also give you aerial view of the mountains. It’s 5 mins from Gatlinburg and 20 minutes from Pigeon Forge. Very well maintained! The owners even decorated the place for Christmas with exterior lights and an indoor Christmas tree! I’d give it more stars if I could! Would definitely book again!!

Amazing view, absolutely beautiful home, clean, great location, friendly and helpful owners

The owners were great from start to finish. Very helpful and descriptive. My family and I had such an awesome vacation. Definitely want to come back here. The cleanliness (meant to leave better tip for housekeeping…had to with morning rush on our part), the view, the beauty and uniqueness of the home, great location to enjoy gatlinburg. Pictures online didn’t do it justice. Wish we were still there. Hot tub looked so clean…unfortunately we ran out of time. Had a beautiful fire in fireplace. So much room and comfort. Loved this place!!! My family thoroughly enjoyed ♥️

Family Vacation

We enjoyed our Smokey Mountain stay. The hosts were awesome with their quick response time when we had questions. The cabin was clean. WIFI was excellent. You can tell the hosts value feedback. And are constantly making updates and improvements. I already suggested that they update pictures of the cabin on the web. The ones on there don't do it justice. We were 6 adults and 1 teen. We all had plenty of room. Enjoyed gathering around the large kitchen table and using the large clean hot tub every night. We did see bears and enjoyed watching them from the deck. Enjoyed the beautiful new outdoor furniture too! Yes, the driveway is quite steep and the roads up to the cabin are quite steep and curvy. But they didnt stop us from venturing out daily. We loved how quickly we could get to Gaitlinburg. 10 mins? And enjoyed utilizing the swimming pool/community room/excercise equipment that was also just a short distance away. This facility was pleasantly well kept. Loved the little added touches at the house. There was plenty of bath towels, toilet paper, and dishwasher detergent. Also had a small dish soap, and bar hand soap for the bathrooms. Thank you for sharing your cabin with us!

VERY HIGHLY Recommend!!!

We had an AMAZING time at this cabin!! It was large, clean, beautifully decorated, so much space for our 3 older teens to hang out late at night playing pool and watching the large tv, and more! The driveway is steep BUT our minivan had no trouble at all making it up the first day. The following day, our van was having some issues that started while going up the mountain and we had to call to have it towed (it was NOT because of the driveway or even the mountain roads. Our van has just over 150,000 miles on it so it needed a new alternator.) The tow truck came SO QUICK, as we were just stuck in the middle of the road! The owners of the cabin were incredibly caring and thoughtful when they found out what happened, even though it wasn’t their fault AT ALL!!! They brought us a DVD player and a movie to watch while we were waiting for our van to be fixed at the mechanic. While we were bummed about our van, we all had such great quality time together as a family, playing cards at the huge dining room table and sitting outside on the deck to see the STUNNING view of the mountains!! While we were outside, we even saw a few bears!!! We were so excited and we’re still in AWE over that experience right at the property!! I can’t say enough good things about this place!! I HIGHLY recommend staying here!! You won’t be sorry!! This was an experience of a lifetime for us!! Mountains, bears, family fun in a huge, gorgeous cabin- we couldn’t have asked for more!

A wonderful family weekend

The cabin is in a great location and had plenty of room for everyone. Plenty of TV's, very nice hot tub which we enjoyed daily, and comfortable beds. The communication with the owners including instructions was spot on. The driveway is steep but even though it seems intimidating we had no problems parking 2 cars. However, the cabin definitely needs some updating as mentioned by an earlier guest. The carpet needs to be replaced asap. The bed on the main floor separated from its frame several times. There were several chipped and cracked coffee mugs- which I left on the counter to be discarded by the owner. The picnic table on the deck is a great idea but is in such poor shape that the plastic is cracking to small sharp pieces. We played cards on it every evening but it had very sharp edges. The chair in the main room has a spring coming up through the seat. that should be an easy fix. Several lightbulbs were out throughout the house. Attention to the detail needs to be addressed. So, would I stay here again or recommend? IF the cabin undergoes updates and refreshening. Yes we would.

Great place!

Check in was simple. The place was great. Very big, plenty of space. Cabin was clean and cozy. Beautiful views of the mountains. On our last day, a bear walked right up to our deck and climbed up the side wall to go up the hill. We were able to watch from behind the deck and it was great! Saw lots of bears during the stay!

Great Time Between the Bears!

From the second we pulled up, we knew we were in for a great time. Everything was just as described, including the amazing view. The owners were in immediate contact and made check in and put smooth. To top everything off, we were treated with visits from a Mama bear, her two cubs and later a larger male. Highly recommended!

BEARY nice stay!

We had an absolute wonderful time staying at the cabin for the weekend! We were a last-minute booking, but Tim and Carol accommodating us very well! The pictures of the cabin do not do it justice. I was slightly apprehensive because of another revealed that complain about the smell But this is one of the nicest cabins we’ve ever stayed in a pier in Gatlinburg and we will for sure be back. All the amenities, kitchen tools, and extras you could need for a fabulous time! We couldn’t find an excuse to leave! You will see bear!!! We had a very close encounter with a huge male bear on the porch that we will never forget! Lock your truck but leave your worries behind because Tim + Carol have this wonderful home set up for enjoyment!

We live here locally on the mountain, very close to our rental cabins. We retired from our 'real' jobs a few years ago and have been buying and renovating cabins up here ever since.

We traveled a lot when we were working and we have used that experience to put some touches into our cabins that we would like to see when we stay overnight.

We use a professional cleaning service to clean this cabin. We do as much of the maintenance as we can by ourselves. When needed, we can quickly bring in professional help.

Our number one goal is for you to have the best experience possible on your Gatlinburg vacation. Please let us know if there is anything we can do for you before or during your stay.

Why they chose this property

We own seven chalets, including our own home, in the Tyrolia section of Chalet Village. This was the first section of Chalet Village and was developed in the mid 1960's. As the first section, the developers chose the best location with the best views. The lots in this section are usually larger with more spacing between chalets. The cabins in this section were solidly built by craftsmen who added charm and character that is not found in newer construction. We look for these old jewels and renovate them to their former glory while adding modern amenities that are expected in luxury accommodations. Our goal is to own properties close to where we live so we can manage them more efficiently. As we have added properties, we have learned what features to look for and which ones to avoid.

We bought Number 6 Chalet primarily because of the view, but also because the configuration of this property makes it a great rental cabin. The three floor design makes it a good choice for multiple family vacations.

What makes this property unique

It took us over a year to renovate this property. Yeah, we're slow, but we take the time to do it right. Over the course of the renovation, there were so many times when we looked out at the view and just stopped to appreciate it. Every season brings a unique view and no season is better or worse than the others.

Of course, the bears that wander through from time to time are always a thrill too. There is a 'Bear Highway' on the hill behind the cabin and a lot of times you can look out the windows and see them playing in the woods.
