Vacation dream

Our family had a blast on our stay in Wisconsin! The owners were very gracious and great at responding to all my questions.. we ranged in age rom 2 months to 60 and we all had a great time. The place was better and more beautiful in person with so much to do on the property. Perfect place for families who want to do a little bit of everything. The fishing wasn’t the best but that’s no guarantee anywhere you go.. kids caught some and that’s all that mattered! It was a fantastic family vacation! Thank you!!

Wonderful Week

We enjoyed our stay tremendously. The listing was just as described, and it was perfect for our group. It was quiet and cozy with tons of stuff to do. Our only request would be a tree trim around the volleyball/badminton net. The branches made those games an adventure. Overall, our stay was awesome. We highly recommend this property.

Lake bliss

Our family could not have had a better vacation. We are only able to gather together about twice a year, so it was a much anticipated reunion. The lake house was ideal for our group - beautiful house that was very family friendly. Fantastic amenities, beautiful property, peaceful, and totally relaxing for everyone. Our grandsons (ages 4-10) had the time of their lives. Shuffleboard was quite the thing - our oldest grandson organized a family tournament that was very fun. We enjoyed the kayaks and fishing as well as swimming, swimming, swimming. Even our 7 month old granddaughter loved the water. The hosts were exceptional with communication and their lake home is remarkable. Thank you, Sangrenes for a much needed retreat!

Great Family time

During the COVID pandemic there is not that can be done in the public. We cancelled or foreign travel to have a staycation and enjoyed it very much. The owner was for responsive to my few requests. Great family location, we enjoyed our sat immensely.

Perfect family summer gathering destination

We have been getting together with our kids and grandkids at this property for 4-5 years now. It is absolutely perfect as described and shown in the pictures. Matthews lake has a sand bottom and ideal for swimming. The kids are kept busy in the water, playing shuffleboard, volleyball, ping pong, etc. All of the games and amenities are top of the line quality and something new seems to be added every year. Over the years we have rented many VRBO's, several of which we keep going back to, but this would have to be our favorite!

Great week at the cabin on Matthew Lake

This is what I sent to the owner after our stay. Everyone was pleased with so many things. The house was beautifully planned with lovely views of the lake on all levels, large bathrooms, and air conditioning. It was very hot on Saturday but after that we didn't need it The kitchen was supplied with everything needed for cooking. We appreciated all the paper products. There were a lot of different outdoor and indoor activities. The shuffleboard and the ping pong table were a bit hit and widely used. One of the black shuffleboard discs broke into two pieces while we were playing a game. (It happened right in front of me when one disc hit another.) Our son glued it back together with JB Weld, and it seemed to hold together when we played with it. We enjoyed the board walk down to the dock and the variety of seating at the dock. The bolts on one of the chairs were loose and need to be tightened. The kayaks were very popular. We brought our own flotation devices, so we didn't use Big Bertha. Fishing was especially good on Thursday night, so we enjoyed fresh fried fish on Friday. We had campfires most of the nights. We appreciated the dry wood, the utensils for roasting marshmallows, the comfortable chairs, the nice walkway to the fire pit, and the flash lights that we could use after dark. The house was very clean and neat and had nice supply of paper products. We appreciated all the hangers in the closets. The refrigerator was clean and empty when we arrived. We hope we left it the same. The ice machine was well used at meals. We appreciated the gas grill and used it several times. Two people came and sprayed for mosquitoes and ticks in the middle of the week – a nice feature.

Loved everything about this property!

We had so much fun water skiing, tubing and just lounging in the crystal clear lake. We used the kayaks to discover the lake too, we caught fish right off the dock. My girls played volleyball everyday for a couple of hours with the view of the lake while we watched. We had a bonfire almost every night and roasted marshmallows, this place had it all. Will definitely go back!

A great place for a family vacation that is kid friendly

We very much enjoyed the time spent at this wonderful cabin with our kids and grandkids. Mathews Lake is a nice size lake that is great for boating, fishing and swimming. The beach area is sandy and very clear. It has a very gradual slope so kids can go out a long way without going over their heads. Four kayaks were available along with inner tubes which the grandkids got a lot of use out of and loved. The cabin itself was very clean and the owners seemed to have thought of everything. The foosball and table tennis tables in the lower level were of very high quality and equipped with plenty of balls and paddles. The two TV's were also of high quality and dish network providing plenty of viewing options including Netflix. While we stayed in and around the cabin on this visit, we were here several years ago and brought the grandkids to a petting zoo in Hayward that is great and not a far drive. While there are probably plenty golf courses in the area, Voyager Village, near Webb Lake, has both a Par 3 9 hole course and a Championship 18 hole course. Voyager is around 20 minutes away and a place we also visited on our prior stay. The only negative I can say is the trash collection. There is not pickup at the property and the one suggestion I would make is to have perhaps one or two 90 gallon trash cans on site to put the plastic bags in during the stay. With all of the positives associated with this property, this issue does not drop my 5 star rating for the this property! The owner's description and pictures are an accurate portrayal of this property, and if anything, it is better than described. Our family loved it!

This was an absolutely wonderful place to bring a small pack of kids for vacation!

This was an absolutely wonderful place for our family vacation "at the lake." Recently we lost the family home we had had for 50 years in northern Wisconsin and were looking for something to replace it with. This place proved an admirable substitution. There was plenty of comfortable room for everyone; piles of activities to keep kids busy; and a lovely open kitchen in which several adults and kids could prepare dinner together. But the lake was best of all. I, for one, liked hanging out on the swing in the early morning watching the waves and birds and simply enjoying the peace. We had children from ages 2 - 16. The dock and sand-bottomed lake was perfect for the small kids because it was shallow for quite a ways out. They spent at least half of each day rousting around in the water on big tubes and kid-sized kayaks. The older ones went kayaking and paddling our rental canoe (we adults enjoyed some of that too). When the kids weren't doing that, they were downstairs trying to beat each other at ping-pong; outside bonking a birdie back and forth; or helping some of us with a devilish hard puzzle. A highlight of the trip was gathering around the fire pit for s'mores. It was great to find the makings already provided along with the roasting equipment. That general area of Wisconsin also has all kinds of cool stuff to do; there's something for everyone. Debbie and Mike were wonderful and I really appreciated all their help. They patiently answered all my probably tedious questions and loaned us enough kid-sized life preservers to make the water play fully safe. There were even enough toddler toys hanging around outside to entertain the 2-year old and the pack-and-play helped with the sleeping arrangements tremendously. Two of our folk couldn't make it this time because of work conflicts; but they're fully regretting that and hoping to come next year if we can work it out.

Wonderful stay- great fun

Everything the other guests had to say about Deb's Matthews lake home is absolutely true: beautiful, spacious, well appointed, clean with a great atmosphere. Eight adults (four siblings with spouses) had plenty of room yet privacy with the four bedrooms (each with very comfortable queen beds) spread out on three levels. Bathrooms on all three levels was a welcome convenience. Plenty of inside activities on rainy days (many competitive foosball and ping pong tournaments). We even went tubing down the Namekagon River which was a blast. We tied 13 tubes together (one for beverages of course) and meandered for three hours. Water depth averaged about four feet and 3 mph. You can rent tubes and transportation to and from the river just a mile away at Pappy's: North on Hwy F at Hwy 77. Don't forget about the Friday fish fry at the Chicog Pub: 1/2 mile east on F. Typical North woods fish fry and atmosphere. Thanks again Deb for a wonderful stay. We'll be back.

Family Memories Made Here July 2016

Family memories for the young and old were made at this lovely vacation home. The home was perfect for my husband and I and our 2 sons and their families with 5 children ages 8-2. Each family had some private space and also beautiful space where we could all be together. This home was as described, well-equipped, clean, well-maintained, and Deb provided great customer service with quick replies to all my questions. Our family especially enjoyed the dock, swimming and kayaking, the screen porch, the foosball table, s'mores around the fire pit, fishing, eagles soaring overhead, and some heated badminton games! And the little ones enjoyed the big sandbox. We spent most of our time at the lake but also enjoyed the Lumberjack Show and Hook Stone Winery in Hayward. We definitely would be interested in returning to this home in the future.

So much fun!

We had such a great week at the cabin! There was plenty of room for 3 families, plus a couple more friends. It was the nicest cabin I have ever stayed at and there was so much to do, even when it rained all day one of the days. The lake is really nice and calm and perfect for all the little kids to play in. We spent a lot of time in the lake fishing and boating, and also at the fire pit, volleyball/badminton court, foosball table, ping pong table and in the screened in porch. If you are thinking of vacationing in this area, don't hesitate to book this cabin! We can't wait to hopefully stay again next summer!

Ideal Family Vacation

We stayed at this great vacation home in mid June of 2016 with two of our children, their spouses and four grandchildren. Our grandchildren enjoyed activities in the water and with them ranging in age from 3 to 8 with the very gradual deepening shoreline we never had to be concerned for their safety. The lake was great for fishing with a lot of action for pan fish, northern and bass. We have stayed in over ten VRBO's and never had a home so well stocked with necessary supplies, which even included all of the ingredients for smores. The layout of this beautiful home gave each family their own space for private time and sleeping. The enclosed porch and deck provided a place to sit and look out over beautiful Matthew's Lake. We even had a deer come right upon the lawn between the house and the lake one evening. We can't forget the entertainment that the pine squirrels provided for our grandchildren. We would recommend this property to anyone wanting to spend quiet peaceful time at the lake with extended family or a group of friends.

Fantastic Vacation

My family and I were extremely pleased with this beautiful, vacation home on Matthews Lake. The home was very clean, comfortable and accommodating. Such a peaceful, relaxing setting! We arrived on the hottest day this year, I believe, and found the owners had the air conditioner running on full speed with several fans circulating the cool, downstairs air! The grandchildren especially enjoyed the lake as it was clear with a nice, sandy bottom and they had 5 baby bluegills visit them near the dock every day. Fishing, waterskiing, tubing and a game or two of badminton kept us all entertained. One evening, the moms and grandma found a casino not too far away. We enjoyed our mid-day lunch on the docks. The chairs were very comfortable, and the table is a perfect size for sub sandwiches and snacks. It also truly amazed us that there were no mosquitoes! We have to admit that we took advantage of the tasty little black treasures (blackberries) along the road and driveway. Delicious! Thank you for a wonderful stay in your home. We look forward to returning in the future!

Absolutely the best!

My extended family rented this house for a week. We have stayed in many cabins/houses in the past but this one beats them all hands down! Beautifully situated, very clean, wonderful owners!! We have been vacationing in the Minong area since the 1950's. The lake is clean, nice sandy bottom, good fishing! The house had absolutely everything we could have asked for and more! Had a wonderful time, used the foosball table and the ping pong table a lot, cousins against cousins! The owner even went above and beyond by researching different companies where we could rent a pontoon boat from since our party of 8 all love to fish and we only had a small fishing boat with us! The owner, Deb, was very helpful and answered my many questions promptly! We enjoyed the loons, the Eagles and even heard coyotes while enjoying a campfire. We will definitely be back!!

Great House and setting with all the extras

We just returned from a visit there with another family and had a great time. There was more than enough room for all of us to spread out and then some. It was a great set up for multiple families. The sunsets over the clear lake were beautiful and we really appreciated how well stocked the house was. I don't think I have ever stayed at a rental that was so well equipped.

Tremendous Trego Trip

We had a tremendous trip at this Trego, WI lakeside treasure. We had two families of four plus a couple of cousins and an aunt and uncle to boot. There was plenty of room for all. The home was very clean, well kept, and well stocked. The property was secluded and relatively private, but still close enough to neighbors in case something came up and close enough to civilization for groceries, shopping, and entertainment. There was plenty to do for those on the go and those just looking to relax. The owner was a dream. We really appropriate her sharing her property with us.

Loved our time on Matthews Lake

We had a wonderful time on Matthews Lake! The house was beautiful and made a fantastic place for our family to get together. We had a boat and several people spent days out on the lake fishing. Then we all enjoyed their catch (a few meals worth!). We spent several nice evenings around the firepit, too! . There is lots to do for all ages, the cabin is well-stocked. I highly recommend this vacation home.
