Turtle's Nest is one of the best spots on Little Gasparilla Island for watching the sunset! This single level home rests at the edge of the sand dunes and has a west-facing screened deck that is a perfect gathering place for watching sunsets. Accommodations include three bedrooms and two baths on the main floor and an outdoor shower below. The master has a queen bed & private bathroom, while the guest room queen and the bunk room (with two sets of bunk beds) share a separate full bath. The home has recently been outfitted with all new appliances and has WiFi and satellite TV. We also offer services of a meet and greet and house cleaning at no additional fee. Our caretaker Paul can be contracted for additional a la carte concierge services should need arise during your stay that include options such as transportaton, grocery shopping, fishing outings and use of golf carts!

Turtle's Nest is perfect for families or couples to enjoy. Includes a fully-equipped kitchen, dining and living areas, screened deck, Satellite TV, WIFI, a VCR player, movie library, washer/dryer, new AC unit and all new stainless steel kitchen appliances.


As part of the barrier island chain that includes Sanibel and Captiva Islands, Little Gasparilla offers the peace and quiet that those busy islands used to have. Accessible only by water taxi, Little Gasparilla has fewer tourists, no paved roads, no cars, no high-rises and no crowds on the beach. You vacation with dolphins, ospreys and sea turtles instead!

There’s great fishing from the beach or the dock, and both children & adults will enjoy shelling, swimming, snorkeling or simply enjoying the sun. With an island priority of protecting the sea turtles from light pollution, you’ll see more stars than you might think possible. And while there’s daily water-taxi service between the island and the mainland, we bet you’ll want to stay put once you’ve arrived.

Golf carts can be rented, but most prefer walking the sandy paths that run the length of the island. There’s an excellent fresh-fish market (Miss Cindy's) just across Placida Bay, and many restaurants and gift shops in the nearby towns of Boca Grande and Placida –– a few reachable by water-taxi.

A vacation on Little Gasparilla will be one of your best holidays ever –– All you need are groceries & flip flops and you too will be ready to rest and be thankful!

Turtle’s Nest house

This is our second time to the island and first time at Turtle’s Nest. House was great, fantastic location. Check in with Paul was awesome as he was very accommodating to our early arrival. Would definitely recommend and come back with the family again.

A beautiful piece of paradise!

We had a lovely stay on LGI at Turtle’s Nest! My husband, myself, our two adult daughters, and our son in law enjoyed the absolute quiet and peaceful area. The water taxi was easy and we came well prepared to stay the entire week. Paul was so incredibly helpful and hospitable as we made our way on and off the island! It was the best getaway, just much too short!! We would all highly recommend staying here and hope to stay again!

A lovely beach house on an idyllic island.

I feel like some other reviewers reluctant to share this information as this place is too good !! The house is simple, charming, well furnished for a beach vacation and the owner was responsive and friendly. Also the manager Paul was outstanding, nothing was too much trouble for him and he helped us out every time we needed it. An absolute gentleman. All in all a perfect place to relax, boat, fish, sail, chill, read, cook, and have fun. Just don’t tell too many people as I want to come back !

Cant wait to return

Loved the house and location. The concierge was very non responsive to texts even a month out stating his son had his phone off and on for 2 weeks then that he had left it on his boat. He never brought the kayaks as he promised or a new water purifier filter we had requested. He never showed to help get our belongings to the ferry when we left the island either. We would stay here again but will not rely on Paul for anything!

Nightly scratching from rats in the attic

Beautiful view and beach. Have been coming to the island for 15 years. This house had some issues I have not encountered. Dirty men's underwear on guest room floor near bed. Nightly visits from rats in the attic scratching. Never saw Paul, the property manager. Hired an island kid to take items from dock to house since there was no cart coming or going. Borrowed the neighbors cart for way home.

Wonderful home

House was beautiful, but had some problems. The worst was NO FAULT of the owners. Hurricane Idalia decided to visit during our stay. We had to leave after only two nights. The Smiths were kind enough to refund us fully for the trip, which they did not have to do. Our family wishes to thank the owners for their kindness and understanding of our unfortunate trip. Will definitely rebook, only maybe not during hurricane season! (Did you know there is no where to go in south Florida when a hurricane bears down? We knew too, but thanks to Paul we got out in time.)

A Wonderful Beach House

Spending 6 nights at Turtle's Nest was such a treat! The house has a rustic look and feel about it that I found completely charming. We loved the big open living / kitchen / dining area that looked out over the gulf, and the hammock on the big screened-in porch was heavenly! We used the grill almost every night, loved the outdoor shower and all the little wooden pegs for hanging things. The gopher tortoise that came to visit every morning was a big added bonus for me. I hadn't seen one in years. The whole property just feels so well-loved. And then there is the beach! We enjoyed long morning walks, swimming out to the sandbar, finding shark's teeth, and gorgeous evening sunsets. We had such a wonderful stay at the Turtle's Nest! I hope we make it back there someday.

Turtle Nest May 2022

Everyone really enjoyed our stay at Turtle Nest. The location was perfect for the beach. Very few people were around so felt isolated which is what we wanted. Overall, the house was well stocked, and the beach chairs were in excellent condition. I would recommend this property.

Tropical Paradise

Our overall experience far exceeded our expectations. It was a short, sandy walk to one of the nicest beaches we’ve ever seen: clear, clean, turquoise water whose gently rolling surf we could hear from the house 24/7. We fell in love with LGI and have already booked our return trip for next year. Best vacation ever! The house itself is charmingly rustic and a little ramshackle - the kind of place where you can just kick back and relax. We especially loved the screened deck and the hammock; and despite somewhat dated appliances, the kitchen was very roomy and a pleasure to cook in. We couldn’t have enjoyed it more.

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!

We absolutely loved it! It's an older home but has lots of charm. The screened porch is the best part of the home. We will rent again and again!! Paul was so helpful! Our refrigerator went out and he had a new one for us by the end of the day...and even brought a large cooler full of ice to keep things cold! Thank you for a great vacation!! We'll see you again next year if not before! :)

Relaxing time at the beach

Had a lovely time at Turtle's Nest. The view from the screened in porch was amazing and we spent so much time in the hammock listening to the waves and breeze through the palm trees. The house was well stocked with the necessities and even had some bonuses like some medication you might have forgotten to pack, bug spray, beach toys, chairs, and umbrellas. The house was clean and there is ample seating if any larger groups come to stay. The owner and caretaker were easily reachable if anything popped up. Paul helped get all our belongings and groceries from the dock and into the house with his golf cart, which was a great help after traveling.

Great location!

We loved our stay in the Turtle’s Nest. Convenient to both the ocean and dock in the back water. Older home with a great view of the ocean. We’ll be back next year.

The house suited us perfectly. It was our second time on island and we would rent this house again.

We loved the screened porch, the view, the old vibe of the house. The retro feel made me remember staying on Florida beaches as a kid. The only problem we experienced was the caretaker not telling us he could not pick us up with golf cart to take stuff to water taxi. We had to carry our stuff across the island (paddle boards, two coolers, multiple suitcases, many additional bags) causing us to miss our boat. Fortunately my family is capable and we were able to move stuff across the island. It took about an hour. If we had not been capable, I don’t know how we would have left. Pirate Taxi tried to find another concierge for us, but they were all booked.

Pro's and Con's

The beach setting and open floor plan, perfectly situated for sunsets, could not be beat. The property manager would not respond to numerous calls from us with questions and assistance, before and during the visit, which dramatically impacted the stay. Also, the sand from prior guests, deep on on the front porch and dog or children slobbers marring the glass doors, was plainly evident at check in. The generous amount of Windex, Dawn and paper towels that the property provided were obviously there for the guests to use as needed, and they were much needed!

Great time, perfect weather

Little Gaspirilla is great place to relax without the distraction of cars and traffic. Turtles nest was the perfect place for us to unwind and enjoy warm weather and the beach.

Why they chose this property

LGI reminds me of the beach get-a-way weekends I used to enjoy as a child. After my own children were grown I sought out a little sunny piece of Florida to call my own. I have spent over seventeen years living on island time at LGI. I have loved both the solitude and the close-knit community of friends that are my neighbors. I love to gather people together and my dream of being able to share the natural beauty of Florida with my children and grandchildren became a reality with their many fun-in-the-sun visits. With the ocean view from the front porch, our deck became the most popular place for our island friends to meet up to watch the sunset. Turtle's Nest has been a perfect place to gather with friends and family and to rest and be thankful.

What makes this property unique

Turtle's Nest is ocean front and sits directly on an access path just footsteps away from the Gulf Shore. The screened-in west-facing porch is a real bonus and is especially nice for gathering to watch the sunset. A favorite feature is the hammock. There are four sleep pads if kids or adults would like to camp out on the screened-in deck. There is a small outdoor grill available as well as a badminton set, and of course beach chairs and an large shade umbrella for guests to use.
