Exclusive Smith Lake Slice of Heaven in the Gated Point William Development.

Fabulous Home located at one of Smith Lake’s most exclusive development: Point William. Point William is conveniently located to major lake destinations, yet is secluded enough to add much-desired privacy to its’ residents. This property is nestled amongst one of the most beautiful areas of the lake and is near a boat launch as well as a marina for things such as gas, snacks, and sweet treats for the kids. The home itself offers outstanding views of Smith Lake and the large outside porch is a perfect place to enjoy family time with those you love. You’ll find every inch of this property amazing and exploring the cove in the canoe that we have provided is a MUST DO while you are here. There are very few steps to the double-slip, private dock. (You are welcome to bring a boat). The lake level consists of the master bedroom and bathroom, as well as a second den with a daybed w trundle and a crib for those with an infant or toddler. The entry/ main level is perfect for entertaining and consists of the kitchen and dining area, the pantry, a half bath, second porch for grilling and an inglenook that is cozy regardless of the time of year. The inglenook has a fireplace and entertainment center, along with views of the lake and hillside. Above the entry level, is another level consisting of two guestrooms that have stunning views of the lake, along with another bathroom. From there, you will find a loft / bunkroom consisting of 4 twin beds and an entertainment system perfect for adult seclusion or for children. A COMMUNITY pool sits on top of the property with breathtaking views of the lake. Children and pets are certainly welcome , but must be well-trained and disciplined as the home is located on a rock bluff. While our beloved four legged babies are allowed, no pets are allowed on any of the furnishings and must adhere to the same water safety precautions as the rest of us do. If you have any specific qiestions about our home, please reach out before booking so that they are addressed before arrival.

The lake house was perfrect

We had a wonderful weekend, as a bachelorette trip, with the bride to be, 4 precious friends and one baby. It was a relaxing and very peaceful long weekend. We rented a boat from Squirrel's. It was a perfect weekend.

Excellent retreat with awesome views!

Property is almost perfect! Very clean and updated! Great location. Excellent host. I only say almost because there is no cell (Verizon) or wifi in the house. So it made it impossible to work. If you don't need wifi this is the perfect house!

We love this place and plan on returning! The pictures really don't give you the full scope of this beautiful house and the privacy it offers. The beds were all very comfortable and the house was exceptionally clean. If you have kids then they will love the hideaway nook in the attic with 4 twin beds and a tv for movie night. We cooked every night and the layout of the kitchen and the amount of cooking accessories made it really easy compared to some other VRBOs we've rented. Kids and dogs loved swimming around the dock. They keep all of the toys you will need for the lake, so leave your stuff at home. Canoes, kayaks and a paddle board were nice to play with. We didn't catch any fish but it was also the middle of summer and if you want to fish, I recommend getting live bait if you are going to fish off the dock. Also, the pool is amazing and again the pictures don't do it justice. This place is great. Book it.

Immediate family celebrating parents 50th wedding Anniversary

Comfortable sleeping arrangements accommodated our family of 11. We prepared all our meals there with ease. We were able to dine together inside or on balcony. We loved the boat dock area which has comfortable seating and a picnic table. The water is beautiful and the dock has a ladder available which was super helpful with the children’s play time in the water. We were able to dock our own boat, rented a jet ski for the day nearby, and used the host’s canoe. There are ropes near the lake house where the kiddos would swing and drop onto the water . The entire setting is very peaceful and relaxing. It’s perfect for a family gathering!

Great Potential

We were so pleased with the lake, boathouse, and water sport toys that the house provided. The kids absolutely loved swimming right off the dock and using the kayaks and canoes provided by the house! We also enjoyed being able to pull our boat right into the boat slip for easy access! However, the house feels a bit neglected. The view of the lake isn’t great. If the trees were cut down then the view would be fantastic. You can’t see the house from the lake because there are so many trees blocking the view. The trees have also ruined the deck outside. The deck was full of leaves, and it felt very dirty/unkept. Lastly, this is no fault of the owners, but the parking is terrible. Only 2 vehicles can be parked at the house because the road is so incredibly tight. Others houses didn’t follow the rules (the neighbors had about 5 cars parked in front of their house), which made it impossible to get to our house because the road space is just so tight. Also, the road out to Point William is a beat up old gravel road with a lot of turns. We brought our boat on the trailer down this road, and that was a mistake. We should have taken the boat straight to the launch. I do NOT recommend actually bringing the boat down the gravel road. It’s too dangerous. After we launched the boat, we had to take the trailer back down this gravel road to overflow parking. We have a 2021 Harris Grand Mariner, and the tongue on the trailer is LONG. If your trailer is long, don’t even attempt it!

No WiFi and no view

This is a great home, and it has a lot of potential. However, we experienced three issues that will cause us to look elsewhere for our next trip. 1) We used this home for a work retreat, and the owners do not provide WiFi internet. This created a challenge for us. We tried to use hotspots from our phones, but the cell phone signal isn't great in this area. As a result, we were basically without internet for our entire work trip. 2) Most lake homes have a great view of the lake, but not this one. There are so many trees on the property that you can hardly see the water from the lake house. If the owners spent a little money on tree removal, it would greatly improve the value of this property. 3) The home wasn't as clean as we had hoped. There was quite a bit of hair left in the showers from the previous guests, and the air returns had dust caked on them. Also, the outdoor furniture was very dirty as well.

Point William Community

Our family of 11 stayed at this property in Crane Hill AL. The house was perfect and the location was ideal. Each of us had a beautiful appointed bed . In the kitchen they had a great island where we spent most our time laughing and enjoying each other’s company. The house and dock does have quite a few steps. Overall this is a wonderful house.

The house and location was perfect for our annual family vacation. Betsy the owner was so helpful and accommodating. 74 years old down to 2 years and our furry friends all had a blast. Room for everyone! The dock accommodated our boat and jet ski. First time on this beautiful lake but won’t be the last.

Summer 2022 Vacation

My family of 10 enjoyed our stay at this great property. The dock area was great and we spent much of our time there. The accommodations in the house were as advertised. The outside furnishings and decks required us to sweep and clean before using, but overall it was a really good experience for us.

Best Place on Smith Lake!!!!

We had a get together with our family this weekend at this property and absolutely loved it! It is the perfect place for a quick getaway! Very spacious, Clean, Full kitchen filled with any utensil you could imagine needing! Great atmosphere, we loved the porch! The property owner was amazing to work with. She was super sweet and VERY RESPONSIVE! We have NO complaints at all! We will be back!

Smith Lake House

We enjoyed the property. Beautiful setting, great house, and awesome lake view with 2 decks to enjoy. We appreciated the ability to spread out when sleeping/relaxing as well as the open floor plan for the main level which allowed for gathering, cooking, eating and socializing with a large family. Everything was as advertised and we enjoyed our stay.

Smith Lake dream

This property was perfect (aside from parking but there is overflow and if you’re at the lake, you really don’t need to leave anyway). I love the look and feel of the house, it was so open and beautiful. You could see the lake from every window in the house. The kitchen had everything you needed to cook with. Our kids loved the dock area, we jumped and swam off it when we would come back from the day on the boat. I highly recommend Betsy and their lake home. It’s beautiful and they’re such a joy to deal with!! 5 stars ❤️❤️

Wonderful stay at this beautiful house

We had a fabulous time. It was a very relaxing, serene place. The boat dock was nice with a swimming ladder. We enjoyed the space that the separate refrigerator and freezer offered. The pool is a community pool up the hill from the house, which wasn’t what we thought when we booked the house. We had to go up and down the steep hill to swim in the pool or talk on the phone. Despite the inconvenience of the pool and the cell service, it was a nice getaway.

Enjoy our stay. The main floor was our favorite spot to gather together. Very comfortable.

Enjoyed the lake. Beautiful view. Parking was a pain and the number of steps to the water were steep, which made it difficult to go back and forth to the house. Loved that the neighborhood was quiet. It was very peaceful and relaxing.

Nice Location

Pros 1. Good location 2. Plenty of room 3. Nice Dock 4. Nice furniture 5. Nice home 6. Appliances Cons 1. The moment we arrived we smelled what we thought was a dead animal but the owner said that it was the septic tank had been getting alot of use lately. So, maybe the prior renters used it alot but its still nasty to be smelling waste every day. We smelled that foul smell everyday outside. It carried to the dock as well. Owner needs to dump septic. 2. Upstairs is hot. 3. We have rented a bunch with VRBO, but found it a little unusual that the owners food items are in the freezer and fridge. First time for that. Not a huge issue, just different. 4. Bugs-Just needed to clean up the dock. A bunch of wasp nest in the corners.

Adorable Lake Cottage

My parents enjoyed their stay at this adorable lake cottage. The pictures are an accurate depiction of the space, and there is a walk through YouTube video that I found too. Please note, if you have Verizon, you will not have cell service. T-Mobile does work! The road going to the neighborhood is not what you expect, but once you get to the neighborhood, the roads are better. It is highly recommended to arrive during daylight hours, as the entrance road is somewhat difficult to find and appears to be a road into a farm. Please be aware that the road to get out is very steep and is gravel. This a very relaxing spot if you want to get away from it all, as there is no internet. The porch is surrounded by beautiful trees and the stars are amazing at night. Thank you for hosting them.

We really enjoyed the stay once we all got there. It was difficult to find because one of the street signs is down, and we were not able to rely on our cell phones due to reception, and it was scary trying to come down the hill to find your place during the day, but especially after dark! The picture of the pool is a community pool up the hill. One of our family members did not feel like the sheets were clean upstairs. I would suggest more space for people to put food. However, having said that.... it was beautiful and there was plenty of room for the family. We were able to host other family members from B'ham and we enjoyed our time on the back deck. It was a wonderfully relaxing stay. We will come back if we are in the area again! The house is gorgeous!

Family Birthday Weekend

Wonderful family weekend! House was gorgeous! Exactly as advertised. I definitely agree with others about not coming to property after dark if not familiar with area. I got confused with directions but I’m directionally challenged😂. House was very clean inside. Well stocked! Owners very responsive with questions. We had 3 SUV ‘s perfect for parking in front of house! Highly recommend!

Why they chose this property

While at Samford University, I spent a lot of time at Smith Lake. I introduced my husband to it and he also fell in love with it and after we moved to Mississippi, we knew we had to have a piece of Alabama to visit and so we picked Smith Lake. We picked our spot due to several reasons, but the one I love the most is that there are little steps to the water compared to other places I have stayed. It was perfect for having three kids under four and the big porch was a playhaven for them after a long day on the water. While our kids are now older, it is still our favorite place to be.
