Three generations stayed at this property as we were in the area for a family wedding in Darby. We enjoyed the peace and quiet of the Bitterroot Valley while walking next to the river and driving the Old Darby Road. We even got in a little fly fishing just out the back door.
The house is very well taken care of and the host was super easy to work with.
Travelling to the Bitterroot Valley? Trust me, stay here…
I think we’ve stayed at this house four times now and we really haven’t found a more comfortable, homely, well equipped and clean rental in the Bitterroot valley.
We only stay at other rentals when it’s booked!
Bitterroot river is practically the back yard. Watching the horses next door graze the land was a beautiful sight. They never came close until our last day, as if to say goodbye, and come back soon. The house is very spacious and clean. The owners are a wonderful couple. We fehlt bei much at home there.
This house was great! It was just as described in the listing. The beds were very comfortable and the AC worked great! The walk to the river was beautiful and we even were able to say hi to the horses next door.
This is my third year in a row...cant say enough about the location of this property as well as the owners, they are such great people. Can't wait to be back in 2025!
I wish I could have stayed longer! The house was perfect, the location was awesome! Very quiet and secluded! The river behind the house with the mountains in the back ground were breathtaking! When they say the house is fully stocked, they mean it! There was not a thing we needed we didn’t have! I know this sounds silly but the towels were awesome too! Big and soft! When we visited we were lucky enough to see the northern lights, I wish I could post pictures to show it off!
Do not hesitate to book here! You will not regret it!
Two towns very close by, good food, plenty of grocery store options! Hines near by, and the fishing!!!!! I hope to be able to visit again soon!
A cute little home on a beautiful setting. We were visited by a little family of deer every evening. The home was clean and well cared for and the owners were very responsive to any questions we had.
Quintessential Montana living, complete with local wildlife viewing from every window. Every comfort was provided right down to the towels & beds with so many gathering areas inside and out. The hosts were beyond accomondating. The only downside was having to leave and return to reality after renewing & making new memories with college friends from the 60's. Thanks, John & Jani, for sharing your Montana treasure.
Everything about this house was perfect. Location, views, wildlife, fishing and food! Our hosts were so friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back!
My brothers in-laws have been making an annual fly fishing trip to Montana for over 15 years. This place and location is by far their BEST we have stayed at. The setting is fabulous. The people on the ranch are the best. The home was incredible. I be back!!! Thank you

About the host
Hosted by John and Jani Meuchel
John and I grew up in the beautiful Bitterroot Valley and it will be our home forever. The saying, 'there's no place like home' is so true and we feel so blessed to live in such an amazing area.
Why they chose this property
My dad moved to this property as a boy when the neighbors in town complained of 'too many hound dogs'. He purchased the ranch from his parents in 1965 and my grandmother continued to live in this house for many years. We thought that many guests would enjoy the beautiful scenery and tranquility of the ranch that I was blessed to enjoy as a child.
What makes this property unique
This home was built in 1939 and is located on a working ranch and the views from the large living room windows are incredible. You'll enjoy many of the original features of this home. One of the many attractions is the fishing access right out the front door and you will love the gazebo right on the river's edge.
