Small but ok for a week! Entrance not very nice as you go past several garbage cans. Some things that should be addressed are as follows. Both chairs on the patio have broken seats! Beach chairs are rusty and very dirty. Front of the sink in the kitchen is peeling and needs repair. It could be a nice spot as the location is great. Just needs some attention to detail.
First of all, let me say the location is great. That's the positive. But otherwise, I wasn't impressed. The photos of this place were clearly taken years ago when it was newly renovated. The place has since gone downhill without proper maintenance, and it shows everywhere. It's a place that was once cute but no longer is. Light fixtures with missing/broken bulbs (which made the place dark), dirty dishes in the cabinets (we had to wash every single thing we used prior to using it), water damage in the kitchen, heavily mildewed and faded sunshades outdoors, overgrown and unkempt patio with burnt out light bulbs strung about, a grill literally rusted through with holes, etc. With a 1000 investment and a day or two of work, this place could be spruced up and made to look quite cute again. But it seems the owners are content to just take the rental income and let the place kind of fall apart. My wife and I were kind of disappointed we didn't just get a room at chain hotel a half block away.

Damaged and some bugs
I have stayed with Sharon in the past but at a different property…This particular property was run down and damaged. I was disappointed with this property. It needs some work. Upon arrival, there were bugs on the bed, not bed bugs… but other bugs and bugs in other areas within the place. Nice patio space for relaxing. The kitchen had some damage and had an odd smell. Decent location but run down and the wiring for the patio lights were cut and damaged.
We enjoyed our visit to beachcomber hideaway. Convenient location with parking on the street. The unit is clean and well maintained. The beach is a short walk but we found having a car is best for all the sights and activities that are in the area.

Didn't tell us about roof construction until 2 days before our stay. Stepped on roofing nail as we started our visit, luckly for owner, 1" nail went into heel instead of anyother place on my foot. I would have sued!
This was our third stay. Here are the pros. Location & Price. You can’t beat it! However, it is warm without AC. Warm weather attracts flies and the unit is next to the garbage bins. The bed is just too low for me. Now if you can get past these cons this will be the place for you. We have done it three summers in a row and really enjoyed it. We stayed the longest this trip. 10 days!!! Now 10 days in 250 sf is not for everyone. But the beach is right down the street so that makes everything else better. We would return again. Love it if it would be able to be rented for a long weekend verses the 7 day minimum.
Wir fanden alles wie beschrieben vor und haben nichts vermisst. Bei der Anreise am Sonnabend Nachmittag könnte es schwierig werden, an der Straße einen Parkplatz zu finden.
We enjoyed our stay at Beachcomber. The apartment is small, but it had everything we needed to have a comfortable week long stay. The kitchen is great with a full size range and all the equipment we needed. The living room has a small sectional that opened to a queen bed size so we could comfortably relax while watching YouTube TV. It was nice that the apartment had a smart tv and some streaming services to use. The bedroom was small and tight, but the mattress was conformable and bedding was good quality. It is noteworthy to mention the bed is very low. The private patio was a good size and quite lovely with the privacy trees and rustic brick pavers. We had our dog with us, so the patio was a godsend to allow him freedom to roam and get fresh air. There are also patio furnishings for dining and lounging. The weather was cool and breezy so with the windows opened, we had wonderful airflow and coolness. Parking was surprisingly easy and accessible within just a couple of driveways away. The check in process was easy and locking up was worry free. The Windansea Beach was 2 blocks away. The area was not too busy during the week and on weekends it was slightly busy. We enjoyed this beach much more than at some of the larger san diego beaches. There was plenty of restaurants and grocery shops within walking distance. Larger chain stores were just a few minutes drive away as well. This was our first time to the La Jolla area and we loved it. We hope to stay again next year.
La Jolla is beautiful. Sea Lions and the cove were a delight. Location on Gravilla is close to the waves and a nice walk to endless entertainment options.
We enjoyed being able to walk to the beach multiple times each day, and having stores and restaurants close was a plus. Comfortable, well equipped and clean. I would recommend this property.
The suite is at a fantastic location. 1 block from the beach. You can walk to shops, restaurants and grocery stores within 20 -30 min. The suite is in a great neighborhood and felt very safe when out walking. We used Uber to get around. The suite is a bit old with an updated bathroom but overall a great place and i would definitely come back again. Pictures are accurate. Owners replied quickly with any questions.
Thankyou for the great time we had.

It was… okay.
I debated on if I was going to leave a review.VRBO prompted so I figured I might as well.
Likes and dislikes:
-This place is super cute and it definitely didn’t feel small. It was small but the layout maximized the space.
-There is an odd smell, we bought air fresheners to help with this.
-There is a washer and dryer, but you have to be flexible with the times you need to wash and hit try to beat others.
-There were bugs. I hate bugs. I had to sleep on the front room(read other points below for details) and after seeing the bugs, I couldn’t sleep as I was scared they’d crawl on me in my sleep.
-there is a door in the bedroom. When I asked about it I was told it was “sealed” and backs up to a laundry room. This was completely FALSE. There was a bit of dirt on the floor near the door so my daughter inspected. It lead to someone else’s back patio. I ended up just sleeping in the front room the remainder of my stay. When my 16 year had to stay with me, we both just slept on the pullout in the living area.
I have pictures of the “alarm” system I set up in case anyone tried to enter.
Needless to say I did not get much sleep during my stay and won’t be staying here again.
Another lovely week at the beach and second time staying here. What can I say except how much I love coming to La Jolla and this little beach pad. Thank you. This VRBO has everything, albeit small—it’s filled with all the amenities one needs for a getaway. My only constructive critique is a year later the wear of the kitchen is beginning to tell the tale of all who have been there. I guess the positive is it’s a popular little place —getting lots of use. Perhaps in between all the guest stays the owner will be able to get the repairs complete. I can see it’s booked up until October. Amazing and good for them and all who get to stay here. Despite the little maintenance tasks—It truly is a great little find. We absolutely loved our time staying here, cooking and dining alfresco. The patio is one of our favorite aspects. Thank you for the memories and we will be back again next summer. We wish all who stay here a lovely stay and hope you relax and appreciate this rare find as much as we do.
Nice clean property close to several good restaurants, nice neighborhood to walk around, close to beach where many neighbors gather at sunset, would definitely return, agree that La Jolla is definitely a jewel!
Great location, two blocks to the beach. Quiet neighborhood. Great walking. Immediate bus access. Well-appointed kitchen. Great for one or two guests.

Great location, below average unit
The location is great, the unit is not. The most accurate description is: Bare minimum. If you're staying for a weekend, it'll do the trick. For such a high price and low quality though, we would not recommend it to anyone staying longer unless significant changes are made.
The unit is connected to the building's garbage room, which means the patio and unit gets lots of bugs. We stepped barefoot on 2 cockroaches in the middle of the night throughout our stay. The mesh screen door works ok. It had holes in it so flies regularly got in, even after the host came by to sew them by hand.
The bedroom gets no airflow so it's much hotter inside than outside. Any warm day makes the room unusable even after the host provided an extra fan. That meant we slept on the pull out couch. The host explained that the couch is covered in stains because many guest's wet dogs lay on it. The host later offered to put a couch cover.
The kitchen faucet and shower head were crusted with enough green limescale buildup that the latter had to be replaced by the host.
Ultimately, the host is responsive but falls short of truly fixing things. The unit is mostly held together by bandaids. Your best bet is a different location for longer stays.
Out of office reply; The beach is calling and I must go!
La jolla is the perfect getaway! We loved our stay. Tip: pack lightly. While, there is minimum storage there is also an onsite laundry adjacent to the unit. Therefore, you can wash a few things rather then bringing bulky suitcases. The small closet can only store two suitcases.
We loved the outside patio. Spent time lounging outside and ate our dinner out there too! We brought our bikes with tons of room and stored them there too.
We like to explore a lot so the place was fine (being very small) we spent more time at the beach and sightseeing then inside anyway. Best of all it was close proximity to everything! We went sightseeing most everyday. Either by foot, bike, or trolley. When we did drive we found parking when we returned with no problem.
The condo was close to: Torrey pines golf course, pacific beach, Kate sessions park, Sail bay, balboa park, zoo, down town…we were 15 minutes to everything!
Tip: balboa station is a 10 min commute. Park your car there and take the trolley (light rail) to little Italy or downtown. Parking in SD is expensive and hard to come by.
We stayed 7 days and probably should have stayed longer. There is so much to see and do, we just didn’t see it all.
We will be back!
