Historic Victorian estate in the heart of Willamette Valley wine country
Make your visit to wine country memorable with a stay at the 5 star reviewed Historic Dayton Wine House on the National Historic Registry. You’ll feel the grandness of this 1885 Victorian home right when you step inside and experience its 11 foot ceilings and oversized rooms. This is the prominent home on the Dayton town square featuring over 3400 finished square feet, comfortably sleeping 11 people in 5 bedrooms with 2 full bathrooms. Perfect for both large or small groups.
It is very important to us that sleeping be a luxurious experience the same as staying at a high end hotel: the mattresses are so comfortable and the linens and towels are all clean, white and high quality, that guests frequently ask where they can get them for their own homes.
The kitchen is fully equipped for preparing a gourmet meal, with room for several chefs to cook at once. The 10 foot farmhouse table is a great gathering place and comfortably seats 12 people. There is a propane Weber for grilling and a large deck for enjoying a glass of wine outside. The half acre yard is perfect for kids or adults playing lawn games or just relaxing in the hammocks. Directly across the street the town square is a park including a playground, dog park and basketball court.
After a day of exploring and wine tasting, settle in to watch a movie on the theater-sized 135” HD projection TV with Paradigm speakers, or relax and listen to music in one of the leather club chairs in the adjacent living room. Or just take a soothing salt soak in the clawfoot tub.
Oregon is a world-class wine destination and recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of the first planting of its pinot noir grapes. The wine house is perfectly positioned in the middle of the Willamette Valley for easy access to taste at one of its 400+ wineries and also close to the towns of Mcminnville, Newberg, Dundee and Carlton. Multi-million dollar tasting rooms with jaw-dropping views and world class wines are only minutes away. We are happy to share our favorite wineries or help with any suggestions for your trip.
For dining, walk a few blocks to The Joel Palmer house, one of the best fine dining restaurants in the Willamette Valley whose menu centers around mushrooms and truffles the owners forage. For breakfast, just walk directly across the street to The Blockhouse Cafe in an immaculately restored 1886 church.
Juanita’s Cafe has ice-cream in the front and excellent Mexican food in the back. Seufert winery and tasting room is also directly across the street from the wine house.

We had a great time at this historic property, sharing it with our two children and extended family. The home theater, deck and park across the street were a huge hit with everyone.
The property has plenty of pace indoors and on the back deck to host family and friends attending a wedding at a local winery.
We appreciate the communication with the host and the amenities on the property.
We found this place while looking for a place to stay with our siblings before our wedding, and this was perfect!! The house is so beautiful and full of character, and the hosts were amazing to work with. Overall, it was a great landing place for all of us between wedding shenanigans!
This historic house was not only beautifully restored but also well appointed. It had everything we needed to enjoy ourselves if we chose to stay in but was also centrally located to great wine & restaurant locations. We will definitely be back!
We had a lovely stay at this gorgeous home in Dayton. Huge yard, big, comfortable rooms with lots of rooms for our group of 3 families to spread out. It was one of the most beautiful & unique homes we’ve stayed in and would do it again in a heartbeat.
This property is fully stocked with many thoughtful touches. White noise machines, ibuprofen, fluffy towels, soft linens. Five friends from law school thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Great location, beautiful backyard. The host was super responsive. Would return again.

Excellent - wonderful home, terrific owners.
We visited a few weekends back, to explore the wine country and meet up with some old friends. Terrific house, fantastic owners - can't wait to go back.
The theater room is a neat way to unwind at the end of the day... We only had four (and a lovable Labrador) in our group, but the house could easily hold a much larger group.
We stay at a lot of VRBO's and this is one of my favorites.
The Historic Dayton Wine House was a perfect stay for our work group! Our group of 10 were very comfortable in the house as there was plenty of space for us to relax, have our own private areas to decompress, and amazing common areas for everyone to comfortably congregate. Our only regret was that we only stayed one short evening and would have loved to use the incredible gourmet kitchen! Our dinner at nearby Juanita's, however, was delicious and well-priced! Our hosts were incredible with communication and took great care to make us feel welcome with a clean home. excellent ambiance and a bottle of wine to share. Thank you so much! We'd love to return!
This is a beautiful property! It is very comfortable, with everything one could ask for. Our group came from multiple states and hadn't seen each other recently. We wanted a house where we could all be together and reconnect. The cousins loved the bikes and took them out multiple times to ride around town. The backyard games were a hit while we grilled out. The inside closet is well stocked with games and the cousins really enjoyed the theater sized screen to watch movies. Blue tooth speakers at the house provided the sound --and the beds are amazing!
This really is a great home, such a comfortable feeling to it!
This property was even better in person than I expected it to be! Short walking distance to food in Dayton, and short driving distance to food and wineries around Dayton. Well maintained secluded yard, and deck. We brought yard games and there was plenty of space to play and lounge. There are multiple spots on property to enjoy a morning cup of coffee or evening drink. Enough parking for multiple vehicles. Living space and bedrooms very spacious. Beds were all VERY comfortable. Owners were very responsive and friendly. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to anyone. The only thing to be aware of (not a deal breaker but just an FYI) fee for house is for total of 6 guests, each additional guest is $200.
The house is located in a quiet little town in the mist of the vineyards. Across the street is the town square with a small park. And on the other side of the square is Juanita’s, a great family owned Mexican restaurant and ice cream shop. It was great to get to know Juanita and it was our go-to place for tacos. Classic street tacos with a good beer on tap (for a break from all the wine).
The house is very spacious, great kitchen and a great yard which found perfect for bocce! We like to cocktail in the evenings with bubbles and bocce and we had a lot of fun. (Of course it seems most vineyards these days have a sparkling which we believe is made for afternoon bocce.)
The house was very clean and well stocked with supplies. We found it an easy in and easy out operation. We look forward to coming back for our next Willamette visit.
The house is so big, open, comfortable and cozy! The pictures are accurate but I really could not tell from the pics just how roomy everything is. The ceilings are at least 12 feet high if not higher. Yard was great for our dog. Nice kitchen with most everything you need to cook. The park across the street is great with an added bonus of a Christmas tree lighting and Santa visit Saturday after Thanksgiving. Very close to most wineries and restaurants. Thank you so much! Highly recommend!
I stayed here with a few friends as we swept away from the suburbs and children into wine country. The hosts were absolutely accommodating! They allowed for lots of flexibility on checking in and were extremely friendly and available for communication. We were left a gift of a bottle of wine and a 6 pack of beer along with some sparkling water. Very generous and the house was spotless! The living room was so comfortable and relaxing. The ladies and I enjoyed coffee in the mornings here and also wine in the evening. The media room was so cool! Very comfortable for us all to chill out to watch both of the bad mom movies. Luckily we were able to find several movies using the HBO max and Netflix that were offered on the tv from the host. Each room was tastefully decorated in the Victorian style with a touch of modern comforts. Each of the 4 beds were equally comfortable with memory foam mattresses, rooms were equipped with earplugs as well as sounds machines and a fan if the noise from traffic became annoying. I didn’t notice anything but did use both the fan and earplugs at night as that’s what I do at home. The ambiance of the house is charming and holds a deep historical presence. We had a great time and very much enjoyed the house.
Great place for a group- tons of space and plenty of beds
The check in was very easy (key code) and the host was friendly and quick to respond to my messages. We stayed here for a wedding and it was a perfect house for the group!
Great spacious character house with tons of space. Giant yard with lovely deck and hammocks. House was outfitted with everything you could need. Comfy beds and great entertainment room.
We will be back
We stayed here because we were attending a wedding in the area. The house was amazing, so much history and charm but with all the modern amenities you need. The hosts were very accommodating, I would definitely stay here again.
The property was 5 star in all areas...
The cleaner did a fabulous job of welcoming us and helping us park the trailer. Nice to have the park across the street for the kids to run around... We should have stayed another night...Yes, would book it again.
Was blown away with how incredibly cool this property is! The photos online do not compare with the home (and that’s saying something!) We stayed here for a wedding in town. Loved the history book provided about the homes history and the families that lived there!
Air conditioning worked like a champ downstairs and not so great upstairs but still tolerable in 90+ degrees. The beds were so comfy! The theater room “bean bag” chairs were incredible. Theater room overall was amazing and can connect to your phone or on Netflix, Amazon, Disney provided by the hosts. Back deck is awesome for hanging out. Fabulous communication with Kathy. There was some litter around the property that probably was blown in from the road? No biggie. And the house is located on a main street into Dayton so be prepared for loud vehicles driving by. Earplugs and white noise sound machines are provided (; lovely touch. Would stay again!
We had a great time staying in this historic house with our dog (two people, one dog). It was very clean, has everything, and we had great communication flow with Kathryn and Greg. The house is very spacious, with a great garden and good location to explore Oregon, Portland, and wine country. I would highly recommend it!
We had an awesome stay at this amazing house! So much history in the wonderful decor! Was super convenient to the family wedding we attended in Dayton. Would highly recommend to others looking for a memorable, enjoyable place to stay!
We were blown away by how amazing this house was. So spacious, a great location, and wonderful amenities. I would highly recommend.

Because of our mutual love of the Willamette Valley and their passion for Oregon pinot noir, we purchased The Historic Dayton Wine House in 2014 to have a second home in the area we love. We have been coming to Oregon wine country for years and still get excited each time we go, discovering a new winery or exploring backroads to find a new favorite restaurant. When not in wine country we love to travel and enjoy all things outdoors.
Why they chose this property
We feel incredibly fortunate to be the owners and caretakers of this beautiful historic property. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places the wine house is a beautiful example of Victorian style architecture. Known as the “Gabriel-Will house” on the historic register, this is a prominent house in Dayton overlooking the town square on a large 1/2 acre lot.
It has been a dream come true having a home in wine county and are so excited to be able to share it with our guests. Perfect in size for large groups or with a smaller group, each couple can have their own floor. Please note we get requests for events and large gatherings that we have to turn down all the time as there is a strict rule of only the guests staying at the house can be on the property. If you have any questions please reach out.
What makes this property unique
Dayton is like stepping back in time, and vacationing here feels a world away from the big city. Dayton residents take great pride in their town and hold special events throughout the year that are fun to participate in. The summer concerts in the park on Friday nights are our favorite.
Come experience what both we and our previous guests have loved about vacationing at the Historic Dayton Wine House.
