This camp has 3 bedrooms / 3 full baths and sleeps up to 12. Too nice to be called a camp. Plush furniture with stainless steel appliances and white panel cabinets all sitting on top of vinyl waterproof wood look flooring.
All linens, pillows and towels are provided. We have coffee pot and Keruig. We provide a pack and play. The downstairs area has a BBQ pit, complete boiling pot facilities, fish cleaning station and picnic tables. The spacious covered porch is raised to admire the beauty of Caminada bay! We had a great trip and enjoyed our stay at the camp, fishing wasn't great due to weather conditions but we made the best of it. Caught about six dozen crabs off the 400' fishing pier with out crab traps, caught a few fish at night with the lights. Overall it was a great trip and look forward to doing it again...
We very much enjoyed our stay at the Grand Smile on the Grand Isle. The views from the large porch were fantastic and the beach was just a quick walk away.
Pros
1. Dock with lights
2. Interior was clean
3.Fully equipped kitchen
4. Plenty of room
Cons
1. Drive way has huge holes and was wet so you couldn’t pull into one side of cement parking area
2. Key was not in lock box when we got there but cleaning lady was very friendly and nice and brought key with in an hour. Manager did not answer phone or return voice mail.
3. Had a power outage from 8:10-12:30. It got pretty hot. This is no fault of anyone but no screens on windows so we couldn’t open due to mosquitoes. The very nice cleaning lady let us know about reporting it and About what time it would be back on.
Again manager didn’t answer call or return voicemail.
I left snarky text to manager/owner and he replied next morning with deflections and lies.
4. The manager/owner of course never got any messages at first
Then he did get messages but knew his cleaning lady took care of it. He is an asstronomocal deflector
The cabin had a long pier with lights, great location, and all the needs to cater for some fishing. Crabbing was also great on the pier. We knew some spots in Grand Isle for big fish, but this location could have sufficed on its own for younger kids looking to crab and fish.
Wonderful experience for kids and adults. Dolphins swam by every day and had close encounters woth them in the ocean. Jelly fish, hermit crab hunting, fresh sea food near by. Only down side was the mosquitoes were pretty bad

Pier is an added bonus
Overall, the camp is nice with a beautiful view of the bay. Having the pier for the kids to fish and crab was an added bonus. Weather didn't cooperate but we had enough room to spread out. My only
Home and view were great. Pier awesome and the lights were wonderful at night. Crabs were caught and fish too. Home fully stocked with everything and clean. Only downside was the yard and driveway had pot holes and mud. It needs rocks and attention. The island had water the week before from the storm so it may have not been bad if it was not due to standing water. Overall our family would definitely stay again.
Stayed over Memorial Day Weekend. The closest crossover to the beach was closed so we had to go further down the street a few blocks. The owner communicated this, just be aware the levee is being repaired so not ALL crossovers or usable. There’s plenty of parking but the driveway could use some fresh gravel. Big potholes and mud. We gave the bottom of the camp a good clean off with the available hose and there’s still trash scattered in the Marsh near the camp from the Hurricane. Not sure whose responsibility that falls on, just a bit of an eyesore. The view from the front deck is perfect! The fishing pier was awesome! There was an issue with the lights but that was fixed during our stay while we were there. The kitchen is stocked well with everything you may need. Overall a great place! We’d go back for sure!! Especially when all the crossovers are usable.
House was very clean and inviting. Perfect location Fishing pier is outstanding. We played morning, noon and night. Fishing and crabbing wasn't bad either.
Camp was located as advertised and was really nice. Only complaint was that the lights on pier did not work so the night fishing, main reason for going, was not good. Other than that really loved the camp and view.
this was our 8th year of fishing in the gulf and the 2nd time we stayed at Don's. we will stay here from now on as long as it's available for our dates.
Stayed here with a group of friends and we all really enjoyed it. Everything you needed was there and it was very close to beach crossover #4. Wish the fishing pier would have been completed but we knew in advance it wouldn't be. We be going back once the pier is completed to enjoy.
My husband grew up in Grand Isle, La. We visit as often as we can and we absolutely love it.
