Perfect Fall Getaway

My girlfriends and I got together from around the world for a quick fall weekend getaway. This was the perfect location, easy check-in, and adorable space. Right on the mountainside, we had easy access to downtown Steamboat and hiking. After a day adventuring we enjoyed sitting on the mountainside hot tub. Such a wonderful stay!

Great Location

We enjoyed our stay at Steamboat. Retreatia staff was great and helpful with anything we needed. Our only complaint, the bed was much too soft, a little Goldilocks on this end. Without a car, the shuttle service, and ski in ski out facility made access to the slopes or town easy.

Great ski in and ski out location

The property was a nice cozy little place. No frills but had all the two of us needed. The best part was the ski in and out location. It made hopping on and off the slopes easy. Maybe the easiest I’ve ever had it honestly! Great snow. Good view of the mountain out the window and a nice cozy place. Definitely would stay here again.

Great location, great facilities

On the second floor above the "right-o-way" ski run, it's ski-in-ski-out to the door one floor below. Great kitchen with nice wide countertops, a comfortable bed, and plenty of extra towels were all great things I noticed and appreciated. The ski lockers are located just out in the hallway and use the same key cards, which is also super convenient! As other reviews mention, there are a lot of stairs to negotiate (the property is on a steep hill, so the parking lot is on the 6th floor level), but it was definitely worth it for the location so close to the slopes.

Good Ski in Ski out

The property is a great location to slopes. If you are a boarding, ski out is flat and had to do some walking to base. Lots of stairs and no access to elevators to bring in luggage or groceries, but easy access to slopes. Kitchen could be better stocked...more bowls, pizza cutter, some spices. Bed definitely needs a new mattress. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and the location was great, convenient, great to have ski storage, super easy access to the slopes. Once we figured out the shuttle service, it was really easy and after hours shuttle service was great and available. Retreatia service was responsive and super helpful.

SKI IN/OUT!

You cannot beat the location of this condo. True ski-in/out plus you can walk to the village in ten minutes right out the back door. Shuttle service to town whenever you need through management company - we used twice and they were on time and reliable. Condo itself was very clean and exactly like photo. East Meadows is an older building but its location makes up for it. Hot tub looking right out onto slope was clean and only down one floor. Kitchen well equipped to cook as we did cook some meals. The management company Retreatia was a pleasure to deal with - shuttles, late check out, questions - they really made our stay go smoothly. If I were to recommend anything to the owner it would be some extra towels for the hot tub and a fan in the bathroom. Would stay here again - perfect for a couple who wants to ski!!

great location for skiing in and out.

The condo is very basic but it was clean and had everything we needed. The instructions for the shuttle are very confusing and it took us the entire stay to finally figure out all the "rules" We were not alone with our frustration. We were on floor 2 and to get from the front door to our unit was quite a hike. Had to take an elevator to the 4th floor then walk to other side of building and go down 2 flights of stairs. When carrying equipment its a workout. If you know that ahead of time it wouldn't be a big deal but we had no idea. I would stay there again but maybe on a higher floor for more ease of getting in and out of the building.

The Condo did not have the views of the mountains as advertised. We had a view of a little hill and another Condo building. The access to the Condo was very inconvenient had to truck all your stuff through numerous hallways, walk down flights of stairs then to an elevator and then more stairs it was a maze. The bed was old and you sunk in the middle. Property needs updates the carpet through out the building was dirty and needed vacuumed. Overall not impressed.

Good mountain location- but location in complex is tricky and property is a bit dated

Overall our stay was pleasant. There were a few things I wish I had noticed in other reviews, simply so I would have the right expectation of the property. I've included those things here in case they are helpful for anyone else. First, the location in the complex is tricky. You have to park on the 6th level, walk down 2 flights of stairs to the 4th level (no elevator), then walk through the entire 4th floor, down 2 more flights of stairs to the 2nd level, and then through the length of the 2nd floor to get to your apartment. When you are carrying in groceries, skis, and other heavy stuff this trip is a pain. I will say however, that when you are ready to hit the slopes you are only 1 flight away from putting on your skis, so that is nice. The property was OK- you are paying for location. The bathroom and kitchen is a bit dated, but the living room furniture appeared new and was cozy. The fireplace was also super welcoming after a long day of skiing. The bed in the bedroom sagged in the middle, so I would recommend the owners consider updating the mattress. Also, the patio is not usable in the winter. It would have been nice to sit outside on one of the sunny days, but unfortunately the patio was covered with a 5 inch slap of ice, and the patio furniture was stuck in it. The way the complex is built, and where this apartment is located, it just doesn't allow for the patio to be usable because it is built into the side of the mountain/snowbank. Overall our stay was pleasant, but I think there are some things that could be improved upon.

Needs improvements

I cannot say I would recommend this property. There were no exaggerations in the past reviews about this property being difficult to get to. I wish the management company would give you a map or better directions. It involves two full flights of stairs with your skis and luggage in tow to get to the unit. After arriving, we discovered a leak in the ceiling above the stove. It was not grey water. We got ahold of the management company, and they were closed. Left a message with the on-call service and had to stay the night. They didn't call us the next morning; we had to call them. (They were able to get us into a new unit. Thank you to the management company; it was a nicer, larger unit with a better view.) However, this unit's bed is THE WORST BED I've ever attempted to get a night's rest in. We were so thankful not to have to sleep on that bed again. Owners - please replace. The coffee pot was missing a part, so that didn't work. The unit is next to the ski lockers, and you can hear the people outside your door banging around with their boots and skis. You can hear your neighbors upstairs. There is no insulation from noise. Couldn't see out the bedroom window because the snow went above the top of the window. The fireplace worked -yay! The bathroom has a nice mirror, but the floors are Freezing cold. We didn't have a good experience here.

Location is fantastic

This really is a great location. The property just needs a little love. The not-so-good- the carpet had stains, floorboard missing in the bedroom, the mattress needs replacing, the couch is pretty saggy, etc. The condo is a far hike from the parking lot with the last two floors having no elevator. Not a problem but a little inconvenient. The good - the kitchen has all the essentials, the fireplace is awesome and the bathroom is great. When we got there, we realized that the sliding glass door didn't lock. Disconcerting because anyone could just walk up and get in. The property manager was very responsive and someone came to fix it very quickly. Only, he wasn't able to fix it so he just put a pole to stop intruders. Would have been nice if they had communicated the resolution better but we made it work. The ski in/ski out was fantastic - absolutely loved that about the property! Overall, a good experience.

Affordable ski in/ski out!

Finding the room was a bit of a challenge. Felt like we were going through a never ending maze. Once settled in, this condo was perfect location for my family of four (2 adults and 2 kids). Hot tub is one floor below. Short walk (or ski down) to Gondola Square . Free shuttle service and free town bus service were great amenities. We did not need to rent a car! Uber/Lyft can take you to/from the airport. Would definitely stay here again if I come back to Steamboat!

Great condo for two people

Great condo for two people. Alot of stairs to get to it. Only had one problem and that was a large barking dog in the condo above us out on the balcony, had to call and complain to get the owner to shut it up. Would stay here again!

Clean and close to the slopes

Hooray for Retreatia who accommodated me on a very short notice. After what I suspected was a scheduling glitch, Retreatia made good with this alternative. The unit I-440 was very clean. Nice TVs and plenty of Wifi. I liked the proximity to the slopes. Ski In (to the slopes) is a walk down 75+ steps then up a small hill. Not really better than taking a shuttle. The Ski out (to the room) was great and only 15 steps up to the locker. Very nice after a long day. Check in and out was a breeze and everyone was super friendly. Will definitely try Retreatia again in Steamboat.

True Ski in--Ski Out

As stated, getting to the condo from the parking lot was a little difficult, but being only 25 ft from the ski run, made up for the long trips to the car. The condo was as advertised. The only problem was the hot tub was small for the whole building. I would stay there again.

Exactly as pictured

This property is exactly as pictured online. It is clean, somewhat updated, and somewhat dated. The layout was very nice for a parent traveling with kids for a soccer tournament. It was less expensive than a hotel would have been for the same time frame. It was nice to be able to make our own food too. There is a community hot tub on the property and a gas fire pit as well, which were nice amenities. A washer and dryer are available a couple of floors up. The property management company was fabulous. They sent lots of information on the area, the unit, etc. and were readily available during our stay. The one downside is that although the walk-out balcony is lovely, but you pay for it in getting to the unit. You have to walk down stairs, then down a long hallway, then down more stairs, then down another hallway--then back up to get out. This was not really an issue for us except when loading and unloading the car; however, it would not have worked well for my mother-in-law if she had been able to come with us.

Great location to the slopes but a haul from the parking lot

The condo is very nice and has great fluffy towels. You only have to walk down one flight and you are right on the slopes. There is also a shuttle service which is great. The only downfall is the walk from the car is not explained well. It is a long haul from the car to the condo when you have more than one arm load to bring with you. You have to walk to the elevator, take it down two flights, walk through a connector hall and then down a different hallway. From the end of the hallway you have to go down two flights and then down another hallway to the room. It was quite cumbersome with all our luggage and snacks and equipment ( the ski locker is right outside the room - which is nice). It is very doable - but it would have been hard for my mother or hard if I had brought my 3 year old.
