About this property

Executive renovated 3br/3b row house

Summary:
This 3 br/2,5bth/6 rooms home is located in Mount Pleasant. 2 min walk to the Zoo, Adams Morgan, Conv Center 2 stations away, Marriott Wardman 20 min walk. Sleeps up to 6 in shared beds, 4 in individual beds. New hardwood floors, pocket windows and furniture (updated in 2022)

The Space:
This 2000 sq. ft recently renovated and artistically designed 3-br row house unit is located in the central yet very private and quiet historical District of Mount Pleasant (right across the east entrance to the National Zoo). In between of red, yellow and green metro lines, all within walking distance or by the metro bus. For those with a car parking is available right by the house with the free city guest permit.

Original cathedral ceilings with beams and arches carefully preserved over the last century combined with eclectic art-deco elements, such as original art and lighting, tile murals and wooden decorative elements added in the process of recent major renovation, recreate the authentic Nation's Capital style of the house originally built in 1917. Numerous skylights fill the house with bright light.

Backyard is fully fenced and boasts a seating area with umbrella, sunbathing area with sun lounges. The garden is beautifully landscaped with a variety of scented plants providing perfect relaxation space in the middle of the city.

The property is so expansive by DC standards that even travelers from large groups will enjoy plenty of individual space and rooms. The additional sleeping arrangements include a queen pull-out bed with real springs mattress in the living room.

The home features 3 spacious bedrooms on the second floor:
- The master bedroom with a vaulted ceiling overlooking the historic neighborhood (1 queen size real bed);
- the second bedroom (queen bed) with tall 3-sectional windows;
- a spacious third bedroom (a pullout sofa opens up into a full sized sleeper).

The first level of the home has:
- a generously sized living room with a fireplace separated from the sitting room by a door for privacy;
- a banquet-sized sitting/TV room with beautifully refinished original cherry-wood trim on the ceilings (queen pull-out sofa with real mattress, a pocket sliding door separates it from the fireplace room);
- a large breakfast/family room with a floor-to-ceiling bay window and terracotta tile floors.
- a sleeping cot to accommodate a child is available upon request.

There are two fully renovated two full bathrooms with marble floors, murals and Grohe fixtures on the second floor with skylights. A modern kitchen with granite counters, marble backsplash and stainless appliances with all necessary equipment opens into the breakfast area. The breakfast area extends onto a vast summer terrace/deck/garden in the backyard for sole use of the house guests. The house also features designer lighting throughout, wide halls on both levels and plenty of storage space. Parking by the property with a guest permit (upon request). Private washer and dryer for the house. Wireless internet, Roku for Netflix, cable TV with HBO. Hardwood throughout.

Owner resides in the house when it is not rented so host belongings are here. You have full size bed stands available for storage in each bedroom. For longer stays the host may free up more space for storage, as needed.

Guest Access:
Check-in after 4pm, check out by 10 am.
The guests have full access to described premises and amenities including sole use of secured backyard garden and deck. The host personal belongings may remain at the property during the guest stay, and will be securely locked.

The Neighborhood:
The house is located in a well-established residential neighborhood known for its multi-million historic mansions, soaring property values, safety and locational conveniences. Compared to many other new up-and -coming neighborhoods of Washington DC, Mount Pleasant makes a great choice for even the most discerning of travel connoisseurs.

The house is located just above Adams Mill Road entrance to the National Zoo (with easy access to jogging trails of Rock Creek Park and a convenient 10-min drive to the National Mall monuments and museums); right in-between the Woodley Park and the Mount Pleasant area. Mount Pleasant is a prestigious established historic neighborhood, with lots of historical mansions and townhomes, very quiet, safe and picturous. Hidden from tourist crowds and yet within 10 min walk to Adams Morgan and Logan Circle entertainment zones, 20 min walk to Wardman Marriott, the location of the area is quite unique.

Plenty of room- nice place and nice area.
We Actually really enjoyed our stay. House was nice and roomy, it had everything that we needed. The parking was harder on Saturday and Sunday because of visits to the zoo. But otherwise OK. We arrived on a Saturday night and mentioned that we need parking passes. The management said that they would bring them on Sunday. We never heard from them on Sunday, when we asked about the parking passes on Monday it was kind a last minute rush and hard to coordinate. We were not very loud just normal walking and talking and we had several complaints from the neighbors about noises. The house was very echoey and the stairs squeaky, so it was really hard not to make any noise. Overall nice house in nice neighborhood, I would recommend getting parking passes right away when you arrive.

Very pleased with this property
We had an excellent week-long stay in this home in the Mt. Pleasant area of DC. It was a perfect fit for my family of six - grandparents got the master bedroom, parents got the guest bedroom with queen bed, and teens got the bedroom with twin beds. We enjoyed having a kitchen so we didn't have to eat every meal out, and it was nice to be able to spread out a bit rather than being on top of each other in a hotel. We were pleased with the location. It feels very safe and residential. We enjoyed the walk to the metro station every day where we got to see locals walking their dogs, running, etc. Do be aware that this is not within easy walking distance of restaurants or shopping, but if the 1/2 mile walk to the metro does not bother you, you can get anywhere you need to go. The house is a very close walk to the zoo, so we enjoyed that. I would stay here again.

Spacious and comfortable
We stayed here in April of 2018 and found the property suited our needs perfectly. Spacious floor plan with all of the amenities that we needed. Master bedroom was very comfortable and had wonderful natural light. Location is great - a quick walk to the metro stop. We had four adults staying in the unit, but would be completely comfortable for a larger group.

Great DC place close to the zoo.
This is a great place to stay and served us well. We had 5 adults stay for a few days and we really enjoyed walking to the zoo. It had all the amenities we needed and was in a good neighborhood. Would stay here again.

Clean and quiet!
So close to the zoo and a great walk to the metro. Everything was clean and ready for us as promised. Easy to Uber back and forth into the middle of the city. Great stay!

Not as good as the Description made it seem
We stayed here for 5 nights with our family of 5. We were disappointed in our stay. There was a lot of noise during the night from the street and from the neighbors all around the property (even behind the home). The 3 bedroom property has one TV in the living room with limited channels. It has limited towels and old and very inexpensive furniture and furnishings. The pictures on the listing are somewhat misleading. The two larger beds were very uncomfortable and hard and difficult to sleep in. When we had to wash towels after the first round of showers, we noticed a sign stating no laundry to be done after 9pm, which is tough after a full day of touring the city. We found ourselves re-using day after day the low quantity of towels and wash rags. Also, I’m not sure where one could buy such thin and cheap toilet paper that was in all these bathrooms. We had to first thing drive to buy some better TP. There are no restaurants or grocery stores within walking distance with small children. We enjoyed DC but are not likely to stay here again.

Clean, well-furnished, and in great location. Perfect for extended family, kids, etc.
6 adults and 4 kids stayed for a family wedding. The house had plenty of space and kitchen furnishIngs for meals, but also close to good restaurants, etc. We had a great stay, and used a mix of Metro, Lyft, and walking to get around.

Immaculate and spacious
We had a great stay here. Everything was clean and the kitchen had all that we needed. Beautiful home. Wifi and cable worked perfectly. Plenty of room for 2 adults, 2 teens, 2 little boys. One of our group had a broken ankle so the metro was not accessible for us--be aware if you have mobility issues the metro stops are about a 15-20 minute walk. Lyft or taxis downtown ran us about $20-25 for our group of 6.

Clean, Safe, Large Row House
Our family of six had a terrific time in Washington D.C. This row house is clean and open with plenty of beds. Skylights and natural light are lovely. There was lots of room at the table for all of us to eat, and there is also a spacious breakfast bar/counter. We loved that the house was about 2 blocks from the National Zoo (free!) and a short walk to buses, the metro, and bike share bikes. The neighborhood was safe and quiet. The row house is about 1/2 mile walking distance to a grocery store, Target, and restaurants. The owner was wonderful to deal with. It was so nice to have this respite after busy days exploring the city. Oh, and the washer and dryer were great!

Everything was just as described. We enjoyed the house and location.
Only had one complaint. When we arrived the air conditioning was turned off and it was 84 degrees inside. Luckily we checked in early so we turned it on around 1 o'clock. When we went to bed around 10 it was 79 degrees. That is pretty warm for sleeping. The next day the temp got better and was no longer a problem. That is the only problem we had. Everything was just as described and very nice. The neighborhood seemed safe and the kids loved being that close to the zoo. I would definitely recommend booking this property.

Lots of space in a great location
The house itself is great- the bedrooms are spacious and sunny. What really makes this a gem is the location- walking distance to the zoo and the metro, but tucked in a pretty neighborhood. This is a great house for families with kids. The management company is responsive and helpful.

Super clean and great neighborhood
We had a very nice 3-day stay here. A beautiful row home and friendly neighbors. Just as pictured, super clean, and plenty of room for the 5 adults and 2 kids in our party. It was well-stocked except for dishwasher detergent and paper towels, which was most likely an oversight. It's an uphill, 10 minute hike to the Metro station - a cab ride to the Mall is a reasonable $20. We would definitely stay here again.

Family of five
It was nice to just walk over to the zoo from the townhouse. Two 16 yr olds and an 8 yr old loved it. It was nice to use the zoo as a walk thru while sight seeing. From zoo walked to National Cathedral then back thru zoo to return to apt. It was nice to have relatives (5) who live nearby over for dinner, and not have to worry about space during our meal or feeling rushed as in a restaurant. The property is a three bedroom two-floor row house with a nice deck off the kitchen. Great light. Comfy blankets. Plush towels. Booked last minute, very accommodating. Street parking was not a hassle, owner gives residential parking permit.”

Extremely Clean Home & Easy Stay
The home was extremely clean. The owners were accommodating to my early check in request & responded promptly to questions about parking & item locations in the home. Although the house was extremely nice the beds in 2/3 bedrooms were extremely uncomfortable. One bed felt extremely similar to laying on a table. HARD! Ridiculously hard. The other bed (two twin beds pushed together I assume) were tough to sleep on & the railing edges between the beds caused several scratches to my legs while moving through the bedroom. The home was located in close proximity to Washington attractions, parking was a challenge and walking to the metro was a breeze. Overall, my family felt safe at the home.

We had a great stay
The home was lovely, just a pictured. It was very clean and spacious. We had plenty of room for our 7 adults and 2 children. There was a crib for toddler. The owners did a wonderful job communicating with us and giving us all the information we needed. The location is good, walkable to the metro. From the airport you only have to take 1 metro line straight to the stop by the house. We took the metro to the National Mall, baseball park, Arlington cemetery and airport with no trouble at all. You do have to walk up a hill to get to the metro and this might be an issue for older visitors. There are places to eat close by and the zoo is about 2 blocks away. There is a 7-11 just up the hill. The bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable and all the linens were good quality. The beds in the secondary bedrooms were not very comfortable. There is a lovely deck out back but there isn't any furniture to sit on. It would be lovely if our family could have sat and visited in this nice outdoor space. Overall a very pleasant experience for our family. Thanks for the wonderful vacation.

DC
The house was incredibly clean and well layed out. The location in Columbia Heights was fabulous. Close to Metro and the city, and really close to the zoo. Ubber was a 10.00 ride, if you chose to use that. Very close to Reagan Airport. Only complaint is the AC did not really cool the house very well and patio furniture would have been nice.

Perfect location for a family visit to DC
The townhome was in a beautiful neighborhood, close to all the necessities. We had such a wonderful experience that I would go back again the next time we visit DC. The owner was very responsive to any of our needs. We loved the open and light living spaces all around the home. We walked to the zoo one day, and enjoyed the beauty of the parks in the area. The walk to the subway was not far with plenty of historical homes and great shopping to view on the way.

DC stay
This is a wonderful home, very beautiful, exactly as described. It was very clean, sheets, towels were all laid out perfectly & basic amenities provided. I had 8 people in my group and we all slept great (2 people on pullout couches). The host was extremely quick to respond to all of my questions, allowed me to text, and was willing to go above and beyond. When we had questions about parking she worked with us providing the permit. The house is in a great neighborhood that is family friendly and close to a metro stop. It's also extremely close to the zoo (about a 5 minute walk).

Great townhouse and well located.
The house is as described and well maintained. Getting there was straightforward by car, but a day parking permit is required and this should be arranged prior to the stay with the manager. The living, TV, and dining rooms are joined together and quite comfortable. The kitchen is small but this is typical of most big city townhouses. The two back bedrooms have a shared bathroom, while the master room has an en-suite bathroom. One issue that I have is that the upper windows in the master room have no blinds, and this causes the room to be brightly lit first thing in the morning. In summer, this could mean waking up at 5 am and not being able to sleep in. This was a big problem for me as I had to drive about 500 km to my next destination and was quite tired from the lack of sleep. The manager was very helpful and provided a full run-down on the place prior to our arrival. The nearest metro station is about 20 min walk away, and this is convenient for travel to see the attractions downtown. Overall, I would recommend this property to others, and the issue with the master room can be fixed easily with the addition of a set of blinds.
