About this property

Dingle Peninsula,Cloghane, Wild Atlantic Way-Special 7/14/28 night discounts

This 240 year old charming farmhouse, is situated on the northern side of the DINGLE Peninsula. It is a traditional Irish Farmhouse with two double and one twin bedrooms, an open plan kitchen, sitting and dining room with a turf/wood burning stove. It is tucked in at the base of Mount Brandon (952 metres / 3123ft) the second highest mountain in Ireland, with a view of Brandon Bay in the distance, which opens into Tralee Bay. Our cottage is also located on the original family sheep farm which is still an active farm.It is located 2.5 kms from Cloghane Village and is an ideal area for visitors who like the quiet life of walking, of fishing and other outdoor pursuits and who warm to the charms of sleepy villages like Cloghane (An Clochán) and Brandon (Bréanainn) with small, cosy pubs and even smaller shops. The Cloghane-Brandon area has immense appeal with multiple mountain walks and trails as we are located on the Dingle Way sometimes called the Dingle Camino. These mountains are spectaular as they drop into Brandon Bay. Visitors can enjoy all the various watersports in Brandon, Cloghane and Fermoyle Beach which is one of the longest beach in Ireland stretching 12kms from Fermoyle to the beautiful coastal village of Maharees that offers activities such as all Water Sports, spectacular surfing, scuba diving and beach horse riding. There is something for everyone here in our little piece of heaven in the Kingdom.

A Piece of Heaven
Our stay in Cloghane in this farmhouse was the perfect last leg of our European vacation. Nestled on a sheep farm and located in a beautiful, remote, rural niche of Ireland, we found the area incredibly charming and remarkably beautiful! The home itself was authentically Irish but with the modern conveniences that made us feel right at home with comfortable furniture, well-stocked kitchen (all appliances functioning and in good order), good plumbing & heating (which we didn't find in many other European accommodations), comfortable beds and a TV. The book of activities left by the owners was extensive. Paddy could not have been more welcoming and available to us to help us find our bearings and answer all of our questions about Ireland. He's very kind, generous and knowledgeable. The people in town are warm and welcoming. The area requires a car and has a lot to offer including hiking trails, a pub with live local entertainment sometimes (including Paddy!), beaches & mountains, restaurants, and nearby towns to visit, eat & shop in. Look up the Ring of Kerry which isn't too far away for a 1- 2 day tour of the most amazing sights!

Perfect getaway
Our stay at Loch Cruite Cottage was perfect in many ways. The cottage is cozy, quaint and charming and the views are spectacular. Each morning, we loved opening the front door of the cottage and basking in the beauty of the area, while saying good morning to the sheep. We enjoyed the peaceful setting, taking short walks and hikes and exploring Cloghane, Brandon and Dingle. Our stay was made extra special by the kindness and attentiveness of Paddy and Eileen. They are great hosts and provided lots of information about things to do in the area, as well as the history of the cottage. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Au bout du bout, une ferme au milieu des moutons. Confortable et facile à chauffer en ce mois d'août arrosé et frisquet. Accueil chaleureux de Paddy, toujours de bon conseil. Paysages magnifiques et pubs accueillants.

Astounded by the beautiful scenery. Such a relaxing place. We didn’t stay in much as so many things to see or do. Especially loved the music nights in O’Connors and the Monday night in the village hall. Made to feel so welcome by everyone. Fresh bread and wine left for us on our arrival and everything explained perfectly by Paddy. It’s a very rural setting on a sheep farm so expect the workings of a farm around you. But we loved it and would definitely return

Dream Sabbatical
Having lived in Dingle prior, I was looking to take some time off to explore the Mount Brandon area. Paddy was quick to respond to my reservation request and when I arrived, promptly gave me a tour of Cloghane and Brandon. Paddy is an outstanding host, as well as his wife Eileen. Fresh bread and wine greeted me at the cottage and it was exactly as I was hoping. I was given detailed information about the area, hikes, community events and local music as well as being invited on several excursions up the mountain. The farmer next to the cottage warmly welcomed me and I spent time with the ewes and lambs during lambing season, which was an excellent way to get to the know the land around the cottage. I never tired of the lochs, bogs and history of the area and already have plans to return next year. This was a true Irish experience in a cottage with a long history and people connected to West Kerry.

Perfect
The cottage was exactly as pictured and the countryside surrounding it is stunning. If you're looking for a place where you can de-stress and reset, look no further. I'd have stayed forever if I could have! Paddy and Eileen were wonderful to work with. Both were communicative and welcoming; Paddy even put me in contact with a family friend's auto dealership, who rented a car to me for MUCH less than the going rate (for an automatic, no less!) All in all it was an amazing experience, and I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

An adventure in the Glen!
I went to stay for five weeks at Loch Cruite Cottage just before the 'lock-down' in Ireland. So, obviously my movements and travel in the area were restricted and not as I had originally planned. Paddy gave me a lovely warm welcome and introduced me to the cottage and its facilities. There was a fire waiting to be lit and a delicious loaf of bread and bottle of wine on the table! Parts of the cottage are 300 years old, I believe. There are lovely wooden ceilings through out. The cottage nestles into the hill and mountain at the back. It all felt cosy, comfortable and very well equipped. There are three bedrooms but only one was needed as my visitors could not join me. As it happened I had brought along a radio and CD player, this was very well used. Next door to the cottage is a farm run by Brendan, he was very busy during my stay because it was lambing season. In normal times, I think there may have been an opportunity to help feed a lamb or two. The cottage is situated in The Glen which is a valley alongside the Connor Pass. There are. a number of lakes in the valley and a few farms. The countryside is wild, rocky and beautiful. There are a few beautiful beaches a few miles away. Dingle which is normally a lively and very attractive large town is on the other side of the Connor Pass. The Dingle Peninsula has a lot of very interesting history, archaeology, Irish culture and music. I really appreciated my stay at Loch Cruite Cottage (even though the circumstances in the world were so strange and challenging) It is a place to be revisited and where you can be renewed. Thank you Paddy and Eileen.

A typical irish cottage...
We spent a week in this cosy cottage away from the hustle and bustle in a wonderful landscape.Despite of my little accident at the beginning, we enjoyed our stay. Dingle Peninsula has a lot to offer. The mixture of different types of landscapes, all clodes by, makes Dingle to a very unique place. You can have a sunny walk on the beach and watch the cloudy covered mountains; from the mountains you can watch the dunes and farm life all over the place. Not to forget the a nice evening at the O Conners with a creamy Guinness.... Thanks Eileen, thanks Padyy for your help and support. I wish you all the best. Hope we meet again. Regard, Joerg & Imke

Fantastic!
We enjoyed our stay in this authentic stone cottage! Paddy, the owner, gave us a warm welcome when we arrived and gave us good tips to experience nice Irish music. O'Connors Pub in the village is really a cozy place for hanging out and the concert in the musicshop of Dingle was great! We got some rainy days reading a book near the fireplace, but most of the time we were able to make great walks in the remote and beautiful surounding hills and along the coast. Also we liked the chats with the busy sheepfarmer next-door. We would love to come again! Linda and Dick

My husband and I spent two weeks at Loch Cruite Cottage in April and planning our return already. The cottage was absolutely perfect, it was spotless, cozy and the setting a total immersion into Irish living. We found fresh baked bread, wine, and the fireplace ready for a wonderful peat fire on arrival. We had the great fortune of arriving at the end of the lambing season and had the opportunity to experience farm living first hand. Yes the cottage was perfect, the setting magical, the weather was beautiful everyday...however, it was the wonderful people we met that made our experience so memorable. The next door sheep farmer was so willing to teach us about the lambs, the area and it's history. When we were interested in helping with the lambs he welcomed our participation and we made a lifelong friend. The owners went above and beyond to make us feel at home and a welcomed part of the community. From the warm greetings, the update on local activities, the invites to music sessions, to the wonderful last evening of song and friendship at the cottage. The owner's father heard that we liked to fish; he provided us with a tour of his favorite fishing spots, fishing equipment, bait, a lesson on finding cockles and brought us some wonderful fish that he had caught himself. I could go on forever about the wonderful time we had at Loch Cruite, however, it must be experienced first hand to truly appreciate this magnificent place and people. Thank you Paddy and Eileen.

Now part of a great memory
Just back from an utterly fantastic time at Loch Cruite Cottage. I spent three unforgettable days there with my cousin for a bit of a catch up. Firstly, the area is magnificent. The north coast of Dingle is a real hidden gem. The scenery in this out of the way part of Dingle is jaw dropping and the cottage sits right in there amongst the best of it - Mt Brandon looms over your bedroom window spectacularly and the ocean can be seen off in the distance. It was fun watching cars tentatively enter the Connor Pass just across the valley. Secondly, this is real country for craic. The pub owners will get to know you by name, tell you stories that will leave you riveted and even let you have a bash on the house guitar. The chat was friendly and full of wit and the food is excellent. Lastly, the cottage is as picturesque as you will find. The beds plush and comfortable, the kitchen well appointed and the fireplace big and homey. (If you have issues starting peat fires, Paddy will build you an idiot proof one from scratch.) Speaking of Paddy, he's absolutely ace. Helpful, funny, full of local knowledge with a real talent for making everything just right. You'll love it. I hope to get back as soon as can be managed.

Wonderful Stay Everything We Were Looking For
We were looking for a base to set ourselves up in a location that was we could experinece the "true Ireland". This was a perfect choice. The cottage was located on a working sheep farm. It was fantastic and so interesting for the children and adults a like. Tremendous walks through sheltered valleys with amazing vistas done to the sea and surrounding mountains. The walk up to the Loch Cruite directly behind the cottage was exceptional. The cottage itself is a rennovated and modernised 200 year old cottage that exudes the charm of yester years with all the mod cons. I would certainly recommend this property to our friends and relatives. It was very clean and well maintained and the owners were contactable and very helpful in ensuring that we had everything we needed and that our week was action packed and planned. We had some fabulous nights in Cloghane village with traditional music and ballads in O'Connors Bar. Brandon Pier and Murphys Bar was also a highlight. There was also a good selectioon of quality "pub grub". We were also ecstatic to discover that we had the Wild Atlantic Way right on our very door step and explored this at out leisure over the week. The walks were fabulous and would highly recommend this property for those would love the great outdoors, fresh air and amazing vistas.

Ideal for walkers
The picture of the cottage very deceiving as there is a bungalow directly in front of the property. We had a 4 month old baby with us and not impressed with the cot supplied. This was a timeshare exchange and was not up to the usual standard of timeshare properties. Ideal for walkers and locals all very friendly, weather was kind to us and therefore out everyday, scenery brilliant, walks good.

A trip of a lifetime
I arrived from New York to Loch Cruite cottage in awe of the beautiful setting nestled at the foot of Mt Brandon. The cottage is located on the Dingle Penninsula adjacent to mountains and beaches with a culture immersed in history and tradition. It was everything I pictured the Irish countryside to be. While the cottage is situated on a working sheep farm it is also located near two small villages and a driving distance to Dingle Town. O Connors Pub in Cloghane village served us a delicious home cooked meal and a great pint! We were surprised and delighted to see Paddy the owner of our cottage ( a great musician) having a traditional music session at O Connors one night. What a fantastic evening. In Brandon there is a beautiful old pier surrounded by sandy beaches for many miles which kept my kids busy for hours on end. At the top of the pier there is Murphys's Pub another great traditional spot. Loch Cruite cottage is a perfect location for exploring the Dingle Penninsula with it's variety of water sports and horse riding amenities. My children also got to participate in farm life with farmer Brendan answering their endless questions. Weather was beautiful and contrary to popular belief there was no rain. A great trip... 5 stars! This is a definite for my future vacation plans.

Great place to stay- had a really fun time!
Our family had a great time staying at Loch Cruite. Fabulous panoramic views of Mount Brandon and Brandon bay great for hiking or walking on the unspoilt beaches but also convenient for touring he Dingle Peninsula ( don't forget to take the Connor Pass to Dingle) there are some great pubs with Irish music sessions and good food in the local village and the cottage and property itself was really well-maintained - really clean along with having everything you would need for a home away from home vacation! Really friendly owners to deal with and very helpful with planning our stay. We really had a great time we will definitely put it on the list to come back in the very near future. We would definitely recommend Loch Cruite.

My first impression was that the cottage on the website didnt exist, well it did but was hidden behind another house which totally blocked the view. The picture on the website had to be taken from the roof of this house... . However we really enjoyed our stay, neighbours were very friendly and helpful. O connor pass is beautiful and also the local surroundings. While this is a working sheep farm, I feel when you pay for a holiday in a cottage, you dont expect sheep droppings to cover the paths around it. On several occasions I had to clean the childrens shoes when they came inside... not on in todays standards guys. I think either a farming enterprise, or a self catering holiday . They need to be totally seperate here. The cottage was well equipped, and very clean.

Authentic Irish Cottage with Quaint Village Nearby
We loved our stay at this clean, comfortable well stocked farm house nestled in the valley, surrounded by beautiful views of the mountains, lakes, and fields. Peaceful yet plenty to do there. Our family climbed the mountains and found hidden lakes with stunning views of the valley. Saw dolphins off of Brandon Point; had a picnic on a beach near Slea Head and enjoyed the shops and pubs in nearby Dingle. The locals in Cloghane are friendly and inviting, with great music and singing in the pubs at night. Though it was far from where we live in the USA, they made us feel at home.

We are both local to the area. The cottage was Eileen's original home and goes back many generations to the early 1800s. The photo above was taken at the top of Mt Brandon 3,123ft or 952metres which is the second highest Mountain in Ireland and is located behind our cottage. Our location is a Walking Paradise with fabulous mountain trails catering for all abilities of walkers from easy to challenging. We are also blessed with fabulous beaches, some are small coves and others extend for many kilometers. We as a family love the great outdoors and spend as much time walking the fabulous mountains, trails and beaches or kayaking the coast around Brandon Bay.We also enjoy the frequent music in O Connors Pub in Cloghane Village or Murphys Pub on the pier in Brandon Village 3km from Cloghane.

Why they chose this property

Our Cottage is located at the foot of Mt Brandon and overlooking Brandon Bay. It is a truly beautiful place where you can totally switch off from the busyness of life and totally unwind. It is our personal place of retreat and is a very special place which we call our heaven.Co Kerry is known as the Kingdom County in Ireland. We often call our cottage as 'the little piece of heaven in the kingdom'.

What makes this property unique

Our cottage has been passed on to us and contains many original items from previous generations. We renovated the house and preserved the original look and ambiance. It is a warm and cosy retreat for any family and will take people back in time with the old fireplace and traditional crane that used to carry the kettle and pots over the open fire.
