Lovely place to stay close to the promenade
The whole booking process and communication was very smooth, jay the owner, was very kind and let us check in a bit early which really helped our plans with the wedding we were attending. The place was clean and comfortable and had anything needed for a short stay. The surrounding area is beautiful and the directions given were first class. The price was great too considering the price of some of the local hotels. There was lots of information provided about the surrounding area and activities and ammenaties. Overall we had a fantastic overnight stay in the property and would highly recommend to anyone. Thanks Jay

September break
Lovely place to stay. As an elderly person (70) with mobility problems the bed was too low but that was my problem not yours! Bathroom was great. The kitchen had everything we needed. The facilities were super. We wondered why the family always blocked the entrance in the evening. We congratulate you on the property. You deserve credit. We hope to be back! We will recommend to our friends. Great website! We’ve had a great stay. Thank you. Jennifer Campbell.

A real gem of a stay!
Was working close by with long unsociable hrs which didn't let me see much of the area But my host and the accommodation more than made up for that 😁😁 My only grumble is the vrdo webb site which I have to say I did find it not very user friendly Espically when trying to contact host Espically when out of nvormal working hrs. Host and accommodation hight recommended 👍👍👍👍

Mournes trip
Good communication.. easy key handover ... clean, all gadgets working... nice shower. Short walk to sea front or town centre. Local store for essentials. Scenery fantastic. Mountains, forest and sea all nearby. Taxis reasonable and plentiful and local private shuttle service (blacksheep) to drop off/pick up from walks. Reasonable cost and helpful. Overall a great stay!

Little gem
Home from home with fantastic scenery as an added bonus. Jay and Sophie have thought of everything and if not, you only needed to ask. Thank you for a lovely week, even the weather was kind to us. I’d give you a score of 5+ if I could.

Fab place to stay for a walking holiday
La Petite House is ideal for 2 people, enough space, well equipped and quiet. Excellent location whether you want to go walking up in the hills or have ice cream in the city centre/on the beach. Jason and his family were very friendly hosts and made sure they were always contactable. Everything was well organised from directions how to find the place to lots of information about activities in Newcastle and the wider area. Thanks for having us!

Excellent and definitely will come back
The place is very nice and cozy. 10 min walk to town. Mace the convenience store is just 3 min walk away. The petite house had everything you need even a stove top expresso pot. Jay the owner is very helpful and available if you need anything. The welcome local baked wheat bread with Ham and butter with tea, coffee and milk is a very nice touch. 👍🏻😀

Jay was a great host. Very friendly and generous. The room was incredibly clean and full of extras.
Jay was a great host. I wanted to stay longer but he already had it booked for the weekend. He called around an found me another place right nearby on a very busy weekend in town. Nice quiet neighborhood with a quick walk to town and easy access to the trail into the mountains.

Absolutely perfect house and location:)
Me and my girlfriend stayed for 2 nights and all I can say is that was a perfect choice! La Petite is beautifully decorated and furnished house. Very comfortable and supplied with everything we needed. Situated in quite place and surrounded by the glorious natural beauty of the area, within just few minutes walking distance to Mourne Mountains, beach and town centre. Although we didn`t meet the owner personaly, he replied to every question we have had within a few minutes. No issues at all! I would recomended to everyone:) p.s. we loved the locally produced wheaten bread:) Thanks Jason, we will definitely visit you again:)

Compact and Cozy!
Hi I stayed for 3 nights at La Petite and although I didn't meet the owner in person, I found the accommodation to be in excellent condition with everything one could want for a short stay provided - it was quiet, comfortable & cozy and the wheaten bread, butter & jam was a perfect after our 2 hour drive on Sunday evening! I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Newcastle & I would highly recommend this property to anyone thinking of visiting this area. If I visit this area again I will definately come back here if it's available or not booked.

Quiet, clean and cosy house
It was nice to stay in this cosy house. La petite House was a quiet situated and very clean house. The house was well equiped. The house is well located in front of the Mourne Mountains. You can start your walk in the mountains imediately from La Petite House. There is a good busconnection to other parts of the mountains and for example to Dundrum ( Castle to visit). Walking from Dundrum to Newcastle through the dunes and over the beach is a nice walk. We coocked ourselfs so we are not known with the attractions and restaurants in the neighbourhood. The host is very helpfull and gentil. We would surley recommend this house.

Little apartment with all confort you can need !
I need to sleep inside only 1 night, returning from a journey/ trip across Northern Ireland, towards Belfast for the flight (come back to my country). I imagine that 1 week or 2 weeks holidays in this apartment, would be perfect. La Petit House is clean, tidy, with all confort: all necessary in the kitchen, in the bathroom, plus DVD films for all the family, one tablet....I don't see so many confortable things for a Holiday in a little apartment! Beautyful position, near to the sea and near to the mountains for relaxing walkings. I absolutely advise it for your holidays!

My partner Sophie & I have travelled to over 33 countries on 6 continents. From the Killing Fields of Cambodia to lining up to meet the Sultan of Brunei, trekking for 20 days in the magnificent Himalayas & exploring India by train (twice!) are just a few personal highlights.
We have now 2 beautiful daughters (9 & 11 years old) which will only change how we travel not stop us travelling. We still have so many beautiful places yet to explore!
We hope our travelling experiences reflect in how we have set up & how we run our little place.

Why they chose this property

Getting Around

The bus station is a 20min minute walk with links to Belfast, Dublin and elsewhere.
The Mourne Rambler Bus Service circles the Mourne Mountains in the summer months usually between the start of May and end of August.

Another great way to discover the Mournes is the Mournes Shuttle Bus Service. It can pick you up at your desired car park and take you out to the start point of your route so you can walk back to the car, meaning you will no longer be restricted to the circular routes and can explore many of the fantastic linear ones in the area also.
The shuttle service runs throughout the whole year, every weekend and can be requested during the week also. In the summer months of July and August the service will be available 7 days a week.
And Peter, the proprietor is a fountain of knowledge of the area!
