Nice clean place

It was a good place for our short weekend. It’s very clean and a short walk to the beach. Despite a lot of units it was quite because the buildings are built well. The unit is a bit dated but had everything we needed.

Enjoyed the moment

All was good! The amenities were great. A lot of people were accommodated which led to a not so relaxing stay but early walks on the beach helped!

Spacious clean/condo. If you’re looking for dog friendly this place is great!

The condo was clean, spacious and everyone was very helpful. People were very friendly and especially dog friendly. We have a Great Dane and everyone loved him. With added fees it ended up being a little pricey for the resort location. Overall satisfied!!

Great older condo

We really enjoyed the complex and condo. We stayed here while waiting for our house to be ready and loved being able to walk on the beach every night. Pool got a little crowded but we focused on the beach. I would say the condo needs some updates, especially the master bath door, which isn’t really a door at all. Would definitely stay here again though.

Great stay/TIPS

They email you with so many rules and directions and it makes you worried. Honestly, no one checked on any of the “strict” rules. They honestly would have no idea if you register your dog at the office (and pay $25) or even if you brought 2 dogs, which spots you park in and whether or not you had a parking tag in your car. The local condo office was not even open on the weekend. We had to go to a place several miles down the street to pick up the key cards - this ended up being unnecessary because the key cards are only used for the entrance gate (the gate arm was in the up position all week, including the side gate right by our building) and the beach access gate (which was never locked all week). There is a great local coffee shop walking distance right across A1A called Kukaburo, which also had a few baked goods, including some vegan and some gluten free. There is also a great pizza place which also had amazing Italian dishes (the eggplant parm sub was fantastic!) right across A1A. I love that our balcony was screened in (most were not). They have bag stations for dog waste but no trash cans on site except dumpsters and a trash can at the pool. Soooooo many people (residents and guests) had dogs, several people were seen walking 2 dogs. I did not encounter anyone who worked there other than seeing maintenance guys now and then , but everyone out and about were very friendly. We found the condo to be clean and cozy, perfect size for 4 people, can squeeze 5 if needed (couch, or air mattress if you bring one). Bring beach towels and toys. We bought a large tube for the beach waves at a nearby Target. There are grocery stores nearby, and Publix will deliver through Instacart. Bring or buy toilet paper and a kitchen sponge. There was a small dish soap, shower soaps large enough to last the week, and a few pods for the dishwasher. If you arrive by plane and don’t want to buy large quantities you’ll have to leave behind, there is a dollar store in the Publix plaza where they had some small/cheap dishwasher soap, laundry detergent, shampoo, etc. We would for sure stay here again!

Great location, easy rental process. Pictures online versus actual in person property were a little misleading. Interior of the unit could stand to be updated Overall good stay.

Do Not Stay in this Unit

Ocean Village is a beautiful property. The location really cannot be beat. Unfortunately this unit was in disrepair. To be fair, when we called to make complaints, the management attempted repeatedly to correct issues but there were many things that simply could not be remedied. In the kitchen - there were ants crawling through the window and infesting our food. The kitchen sink was not installed correctly so water pooled at one side of the sink. The kitchen faucet rocked back and forth precariously. There were very few plates, cups, and glasses. The cooking utensil were plastic and cheap. When we attempted to vacuum with the vacuum that was in the unit, we found that the bag inside was broken and the vacuum had obviously not been emptied for years when piles of dog fur and dust burst out of the vacuum. We were then unable to clean it up adequately because we did not have another vacuum. There was a broom with a flimsy dustpan that was useless. One bathroom had an accordion door instead of a real door so there was no real privacy while in there. When we turned on the shower in the master bath only a trickle of water came out. When we turned on the tap in the master bathroom sink, water sprayed out all over. The hall bath smelled awful. There was probably a leak behind the wall, We could see various areas where cuts had been made in the drywall behind the toilet. Management was attentive and replaced the shower head, addressed the spraying water from the sink and eventually sent a new vacuum. We were there for a total of 3 weeks. Other units in this development were in much better condition.

Vacay with spouse

Main things are smell and place needs an overall facelift. A bit overpriced in that respect. If you are looking for a luxury rental, this is not it. Easy to locate. Check in and check out easy. Close to beach but I thought it would have been closer. I just thought it was pricy for the rental, but have to factor in that it is walking distance to beach.

Disappointed

We love Ocean Village Club. We have stayed there multiple times over the years. This stay was disappointing - from the moment we walked in and saw rags on the bathroom floor; the towels were damp and dirty dishes were in the cabinets; the starter toilet paper roll was unusable (had gotten wet and wasn’t replaced) and the blankets which were used as the bedspreads were obviously not washed between guests. All of this was in the midst of Covid-19 which is what prompted us to use a rental that was managed by a Property Mgt Company (VTrips) versus an individual. We thought the cleanings would be more standardized than if it was managed by an individual. The condo was worn and the everything felt basic/cheap, from the thin wash cloths to the cheap shower nozzle down to no garbage disposal in the kitchen and no beach supplies, not even a minimal amount. This is the first condo in St. Augustine that didn’t provide anything! But on a brighter note, the beach at Ocean Village Club is beautiful and the location is convenient to everything, but G-21 needs some basic improvements not to mention cleaning standards implemented.

The overall experience was good. The condo was clean and easy to find. It was an enjoyable stay.

The condo location was close to many restaurants and the beach. The condo unit was comfortable. We enjoyed playing games. The weather was too cold to try the pool. There was plenty of parking spaces.

Good last minute trip

Condo was clean and as described on the website. Very nice balcony and not too far to the beach. Beds were very comfortable and kitchen well stocked. Kitchen could use some additional silverware, especially spoons—kept running out of clean ones. Overall very enjoyable.

For what you pay (rate plus the many fees) not worth it

The rate for this property is reasonable for the place but by the time you pay all the fees the per night price is way over priced. We also had live roaches in the unit. There is a lot of space and equipped kitchen for our family of three. The unit isn’t too far from the beach and it was nice to have some sand toys, chairs and an umbrella for the beach in the unit. We didn’t have to worry about bringing those items with us to enjoy the beach. The roach situation must be addressed though. Dead bugs are fine but live ones? Come on. I do. It think I’ll use VRBO again simply because of the fees.

A Family Friendly Atmosphere

Although we would have liked for the beach to have been closer, we enjoyed the tennis court, shuffle board, and pool nearby. All the tenants were very friendly and very helpful with local favorite places to dine. We loved the historic city and although we just rode around and read through articles, we loved the fort, the college, and the very beautiful churches! We also loved the fact that there is not high rise condos every 30 or more feet apart. Well except for my 18 year old son. He missed not being directly on the beach and hearing the ocean.

Enjoyed this unit. Very close to the pool. The only complaint regarding OVC was the sprinklers came on every morning around 10 and had an awful sulfur smell.

Clean condo

We enjoyed our stay. The condo was clean. There wasn't enough wash clothes to accommodate my family of four (5 wash clothes) without doing laundry every other day. So I purchased a pack of wash clothes to get us through our stay. Also there wasn't a dish rag in the kitchen linen drawer. So I purchased a pack of sponges. The hand soap pumps in the bathrooms were filled with 3 or 4 different kinds of soap and was very watered down. So I purchased my own hand soap pumps. It was nice seeing there were boogie boards for the ocean as well as chairs. We brought our own so we didn't use what was there, but it was nice to see it was available. We ate dinner most nights at the condo. The kitchen had an okay amount of dishes but lacked in the utensil department. We were pleased for the most part with our accommodations. We would stay here again.
