About this property

Nestled down a little country dirt lane, our cottage named after William Wordsworth's own Dove Cottage, is a calming sanctuary in the middle of the Wine Country, close to Sonoma Plaza. It is a completely private residence with it's own solar-heated pool, large private deck for entertaining, dining, and relaxing. It has a lush, wrap-around garden, and a modern, clean, minimal interior space. It is perfectly located close to Sonoma Square for the best in fine dining and access to some of the best wineries in the world.

Our cottage is perfect for a couple's romantic weekend away, or a fun weekend for a small family with kids enjoying the pool (with automatic cover- so very safe) and Traintown just around the corner. *We do not typically heat the pool November- February due to the cold temperatures, it is almost impossible to get the pool warm enough to enjoy.

Besides being a beautiful little getaway, we have also put thought into the details: Dove Cottage has air-conditioning/heating and features a beautiful custom luxury kitchen. It has two Sony HD TV's with complimentary Netflix and Cable, Full Lightening speed Wi-fi, and unique European design details such as a sliding custom barn-door and two Dutch-style doors. And the back master suite has french doors that lead out to your private deck to enjoy the evening sunsets or the fresh morning air.

Our cottage is close enough to the Square for easy access and proximity yet has a wonderful rural setting that allows you to simultaneously feel away from it all. We have tried to create a space that we love to be in as a family, or as a romantic getaway, and we have put a lot of thought into the design and flow, and we hope that you will love it, and that it will make your time in this beautiful part of the world even more enjoyable and memorable.

Secluded in Sonoma

The property is beautiful, secluded and quiet. Only major downside is the access from the main road. The 150m side street into the property is in horrible shape with crazy, huge potholes. It was very difficult to drive in with our rental without grounding out some part of the car. If you have an suv or truck it is not likely an issue.

Perfect Mom Weekend Getaway

We went for a moms relaxing weekend getaway. 3 moms that needed a small break from the start of the kids’ school year. The cottage was very clean, relaxing and had all the amenities that we needed for the weekend. It’s about a 3-5 minute drive from Safeway and Whole Foods. The host, Sarah, is very responsive and has great recommendations for things to do in the area. We hope to be back again next year!

Wonderful stay at Dove Cottage

Dove Cottage was an amazing home for our family stay in Sonoma! The house is close to the Sonoma square, restaurants, grocery stores, and wineries. We loved jumping in the pool to cool off in the hot afternoons. The home was clean and everything was as described.

Many great things about this property however owner should address some maintenance issues. Floor at entrance Hire a plumber and get bathroom fixtures working properly . Bathroom door should close properly. Come on Man. For what you charge Get maintenance issues addressed

Charming cottage with everything you could ask for!

Dove Cottage is a beautiful, well-kept, beautifully decorated and fully outfitted vacation home in the heart of Sonoma. The house was so charming - every detail thoughtfully considered to ensure a perfect, comfortable and stress-free stay. Sarah is a super responsive, warm and welcoming host. We felt fully cared for. The location is great! Walking distance to Train Town (if you have kids) and Sonoma Plaza with delicious restaurants and great shops. We VRBO a lot and this was definitely in our top best experiences. We hope to come back soon!

Amazing House

Great for family stay

The highlight here is that glorious master bedroom overlooking the backyard and pool. TYou can lay in bed watching the kids frolic. It’s a little pool but kids love it and the yard is cute. I loved hearing the sound of leaves plopping down from the tree. Another plus is all the thoughtful extras. Need a Sharpie? Need a Covid test? This place has you covered. Central heat another big plus. Overall a great stay.

Cute Cottage, Pleasant Stay

We recently stayed at Dove Cottage for a few night with our young children. The house is adorable, cozy and well equipped with all things needed. The pool was the perfect size for our family and the main attraction for the kids. The location is very close to many great restaurants, parks, wineries, etc. A great spot! We had a couple of questions while we were there and the owner responded immediately - super kind and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay and definitely will come back to Dove Cottage if we find ourselves in Sonoma again!

Charming home to relax at, good driving distance to fun!

We loved this home so much, and already want to return! The backyard and inside of the home were both so relaxing and had everything we needed to unwind. There were cute touches everywhere you looked. The pool was so nice and warm, especially at the end of the day after the solar heater was hard at work; this was so nice with our baby and toddler! The one downside was that the neighborhood is not walking friendly without having to drive somewhere. To get to a good walking area, you have to walk down a 1/8-1/4 mile dirt road and then cross a very busy street without a crosswalk or sidewalk on the street side of the house. This trek was worth it to a nearby beautiful trail, but hard to get to. We hope to rent again soon!

Staycation

We were looking to escape June Gloom in the city and this was the perfect find ! We escaped with our family and enjoyed. Picnicking in the backyard and playing in the pool from dawn to dusk. Our LO loved the house toys and of course the pool. The auto cover also made us feel at easy when we wrapped up the pool for the night and played in the backyard. We can’t wait to come back amenities were perfect for a family we also loved that it was a short drive from SF!!

Book available onsite was awesome! Loved our time there. It is small but worked great for 4 adults. Check in was a problem because the access code didn’t work. But otherwise was great!

Great time in Sonoma at Dove Cottage

My husband and two of our friends stayed at the Dove Cottage for 6 days. The cottage was darling and perfect for 2 couples - but is also great for a family. We walked to the square and enjoyed many wineries and restaurants in the area. The home guide that was available to us was the nicest I have experienced in all my VRBO stays. We are a family with our hearts split equally between San Francisco and London, but the wine country of Sonoma is a heartland all of its own and we have fallen under its spell. Between the beauty of its countryside, the warmth of its residents, and the endless sunny days and long summer nights, there's no more romantic place that we could imagine to escape to and call a home away from home. What makes this property unique

We are a very child friendly rental home, we are blocks from Sonoma square that has playgrounds and ducks, and only a block from Train Town which is a gorgeous little theme park for kids. We also have a farm near the house with friendly horses, ponies, goats and llamas. And, our cottage has a pack n play, games, a highchair, a safety cover on the pool, corn hole and everything we can think of to make travelling with children fun and easy.
