About this property

Modern, Minimalist, Light-filled Home with Hot Tub Near Catamount Ski

Our modern, light-filled house is like a cabin in the woods, but bigger, with plenty of space and lofty ceilings. The house is located on a private gravel road in a lush, quiet wooded setting, and has a hot tub. There are several stone walls through the property -- great for exploring.

The house has an open floor plan with wood floors throughout. There is a large kitchen and dining area with high ceilings and exposed beams adjoining a bright, spacious living room equipped with a wood burning stove, HDTV, record player and lots of vinyl. Leading from the living room is a large deck with a picnic table, surrounded by trees providing ample shade, perfect for outdoor dining. There is also a grill and a vegetable garden next to the deck.

The house has skylights throughout, 2 bathrooms and 4 bedrooms. The master bedroom has a queen-sized bed and en suite bathroom with a very large claw foot tub and walls of local pine; there is also a private deck attached to this bedroom. Another bedroom has a queen-sized bed with a wood burning stove and a deck as well. The third bedroom has a queen bed and bunk bed and is equipped with toys and games for the kids. The smallest bedroom has a full sized bed. The house is perfect for a large group of people.

Amenities include wifi, large screen TV, Netflix, laundry room, dish washer, microwave, compost, wood burning stoves, a fire pit and a rope swing.

The house is located west of the Berkshire Mountains in Massachusetts and east of the Catskill Mountains, just across the Hudson River. It's a 2 hour drive from Manhattan, north up the scenic Taconic Parkway and one hour south of Albany International Airport. The house is less than 10 miles from Hudson which hosts a farmer's market on Saturday; there are over 75 antique shops to discover, galleries, music venues and many boutiques and renowned restaurants. Fall is a great time to come during the change of colors, with lots of pick-your-own orchards to choose from. In the warmer months there are dairy farms and fruit stands, berry picking, plus trails and waterfalls and swim holes including the beautiful Lake Taghkanic beach, just a ten minute drive from the house.

Catamount Ski Area is a 20 minutes drive and Great Barrington, MA is 30 minutes away. Other places worth seeing are Tanglewood, Chatham, Bash Bish Falls, and the Art Omi Outdoor Sculpture Garden.

Wonderful home, location and hosts

This was our second stay in this home. The description and photographs are accurate, and if anything, the house is even better in person. It is beautiful, well equipped, and in a serene location. The hosts are extremely responsive and nice to communicate with. We hope to return again sometime!

A Very Happy Thanksgiving

We gathered from various locations to celebrate Thanksgiving. Everyone was pleased with their bedrooms and the beds were all comfortable. The wood burning stove made it cozy. Three of us love to cook and one is a professional chef (CIA). The kitchen was well stocked with enough work space for all. We all enjoyed the Hot Tub especially when the snow started. We will remember our stay forever.

Lovely House Tucked Away in the Woods

My husband and I loved our stay here. The house is charming, comfortable and so well equipped. The aesthetic is modern yet vintage, and the house is filled with a fantastic collection of mid-century finds and beautiful artwork. Everything is well organized, and the owner is very responsive and lovely to deal with. We would definitely come back!

Gorgeous getaway in the woods

This is a modern and gorgeous house with lots of light and space. We especially loved the large and well equipped kitchen (with fresh herbs on the outside deck) and the fantastic record collection! And to have beautiful woods with lots of birds singing, cute chipmunks and a large swing right on your doorstep is just wonderful! Myryah is a fantastic host - so easy to communicate with before and throughout our stay. She even mailed my daughter the charger she unfortunately left in the house. We highly recommend this place and would love to come back some other time when we need a break from the city.

family bliss!

Our stay was such a lovely experience from start to finish. Our hosts were clear, kind and generous. The home had everything that we needed to cook our meals, relax by the fire and listen to a great array of records. The kids had a ton of fun using the sleds provided and even with the super cold temps, were able to stay outside, totally entertained, for hours! We were close to two separate ski resorts - Catamount and Butternut. We chose to ski one day and tube another. I can't recommend this place enough. Thank you so much!

What a great find

We had a terrific weekend in this well equipped and thoughtfully designed home in the woods. It was perfect for our family - from the light filled living space to the master with claw foot tub to the kids room complete with drum set. We loved the location- peaceful, yet only 20 min to the vibrant town of Hudson and 10-15 min to Copake lake and Lake Taghkanic State Park. Communication was easy and so was settling in- the hard part was leaving.

Gorgeous Hudson Valley Retreat

Our family of four enjoyed spending our last week of summer in Myryah's beautiful home. The house offered everything we could need--space, light, and an amazing setting in the woods, thoughtfully appointed with clean, modern design throughout. Our kids loved the bunk beds, swing, and great collection of books, while we grownups enjoyed the record collection, the well-appointed kitchen, and feeling the late summer breeze from any of the three decks! It was the perfect spot from which to explore the Hudson Valley, and we had a great time dining out in Hudson, biking on the Harlem Valley Rail Trail through Taconic State Park, checking out the incredible sculptures at Art Omi in Ghent, and even spending a day at the Columbia County Fair. Myryah was an attentive hostess from afar, checking in and being available to answer questions. Thanks so much for sharing your home with us!

Perfect family retreat

We rented Myryah's home together with our friends, both traveling with our young children. There was plenty of room both indoors and out for the kids to run around and explore and for the adults to relax. The furnishings and art throughout the home creates an esthetically pleasing and relaxed mood that allows you to easily transition into your time away. The kitchen was well equipped for family meals out on the deck and we took advantage of the great record collection throughout our stay. The property felt quiet and secluded enough to feel like we were really getting away from the city, while being close enough easily explore to Hudson and other nearby towns. There are so many good spots to hike and swim including, Bash Bish falls, High Falls conservation area , Lake Taghanick State Park and Taconic State Park that we visited within our 5 days. We also loved Omi International Art Center, a nearby sculpture grounds and visitor center. We can't wait to return to the area and can't imagine staying anywhere else.

Serene stylish forest retreat

Our family had a wonderful stay at Myryah's fantastic home. The spacious open plan, loft-like living and dining area looked out onto views of the trees, rolling hills and stone walls crossing the property. The house, on a private lane with a pond at the end, felt plenty secluded and quiet: we couldn't see any other properties while inside. The location is great - easy striking distance to Hudson and other towns lining the river, and likewise to Great Barrington and the Berkshires. Myryah was a helpful host, making sure the house had everything we needed and providing some nice tips on where to go. She even brought in extra kindling and wood for the two fireplaces, since there was still plenty of snow on the ground during our early spring visit. The house, with its well-curated mix of local antiques and modern pieces, had plenty of toys for kids (a closet full of games; musical instruments galore) and grownups (vintage vinyl for the record player). We are already thinking about a return trip!

Cozy, comfortable house in the woods

Great experience! We rented this house for a New Year's weekend reunion with a group of friends. The house is spacious and beautifully renovated. Well-stocked, open kitchen -- wonderful for cooking meals together. We especially liked being able to use the record player and the wood stove! The house is on a lovely property and we really enjoyed walking outside in the snow. It's a short drive into town if you need any groceries or supplies. Myryah was very helpful and responded quickly to all our questions in advance of our stay. I'd highly recommend this house for a group of adults or an extended family.

We had an amazing stay at this gorgeous getaway just a couple hours outside the city. It's spacious yet cozy, immaculately decorated, and fully equipped with loads of gorgeous art, ceramics, and relaxing outdoor nooks. Myryah is equally down to earth and delightful. Highly recommend!

Clean, mod house in the woods

A group of us stayed at this lovely, daylight-filled cabin for a spring weekend and were delighted by the quiet of the setting and the care taken by the owners both in the renovation and in the small details in the house. The kitchen is wonderful, and we cooked several meals using produce, etc from the Hawthorne Valley farm store in Ghent. Everything was sparkling clean. The sheets and towels are good quality, smooth and all-cotton, much-appreciated by everyone in our group. We felt very welcome, and the owner was always reachable by phone/text if we had a question. We definitely hope to be back soon.

Hudson retreat

This house is gorgeous and beautifully situated in the woods, and Myryah is an attentive and generous host. It's a lovely retreat. We loved cooking in the open kitchen, watching the changing light through the windows, soaking in the tub--and our kids loved playing in the children's room. The house is a short drive from Hudson, which is a charming little city. We especially liked the farmer's market on Saturday morning, the food trucks (yes, food trucks!) for lunch, and the "ale and books" store for browsing. This is an amazing find, and we hope to return!

Inspiring getaway in the woods

Myryah and Kevin's home is both incredibly comfortable and beautifully designed. Their eclectic, modern style is perfectly contrasted with the surrounding woods, which are visible from almost every room in the house. We especially enjoyed the kitchen, which is well stocked for anyone hoping to cook (the dishwasher was also appreciated!). Coming from Boston, we found the location to be as convenient as possible for a Hudson Valley destination; not too far from the MA/NY border but close enough to hiking, farm stores, and the towns of Hudson and Philmont. Kevin and Myryah were incredibly easy to communicate with and truly cared about our experience as guests.

Style, Comfort & Beauty!

I love this house! And let me count the ways for you - first of all, for this Brooklynite, there is nothing more divine then waking up & seeing only trees out the glass windows from your bed. It's like waking up in a fairytale book. And then at night, the skylights allow you to gaze at the stars from your bed. O.K., there is something more divine then being surrounded by trees, and that would be the gorgeous claw foot bathtub off the master bedroom. I also really appreciated the touches of handmade pottery, well-appointed art, an awesome record collection (yup, a record player!) all to go along with a super cozy giant sofa in this beautiful light-filled house. We also enjoyed exploring the surrounding area. In addition to walking around the town of Hudson, we cooled off in a swimming hole after hiking to some waterfalls. We also attended Art Omi's arts weekend. I would definitely stay here again!

Great house 2 hours from Brooklyn

My wife and I had a really a great weekend in this woodsy retreat - thanks Myryah and Kevin for being so accommodating! At just over 2 hours from our home in Brooklyn it was the perfect place to relax (amazing night's sleep), read and cook for the weekend. It is also pretty close to Hudson too if you need some of the local culture - farmers market, restaurants and (overpriced) antiques. Highly recommended! And great intro to VRBO!

The Best of the City and the Country

My family and I are frequent visitors to the Hudson Valley and the eclectic city of Hudson is a favorite destination. We sometimes stay in Hudson proper but on this trip we wanted something a little outside the city. Something that offered more room to relax and entertain, some nice outdoor space, and a lot more serenity and quiet. We definitely got it with this very spacious cabin just outside of Hudson. The owner was very nice and informative and quickly answered questions that we had. There were two couples with five kids total and we never felt cramped or lacking for privacy. The cabin itself has a very modern, slightly funky, loft-like aesthetic that, as Brooklynites, we just loved. I would hesitate to call it a “cabin” because it’s so big and full of cool little details. And lots of interesting artwork. The bathroom with clawfoot tub in the master bedroom is particularly cool. The kitchen was well-equipped (we love to cook) and we all enjoyed eating meals on the deck off of the living area. The kids had a blast sleeping on the bunk beds in the same room. The house was absolutely spotless when we arrived. There were lots of linens and towels for everyone. And you can’t beat the convenience of a washer/dryer in the unit (something we don’t have in Brooklyn). We spent an afternoon exploring the cute shops, galleries and eateries on Warren St. in Hudson. We also did some hiking and exploring on some of the many trails nearby. The neighbors and locals we encountered were always very welcoming and friendly and I think we made some new friends at the pub/bookstore called The Spotty Dog in Hudson. My kids loved playing and exploring the area around the home and I always felt like they were safe. We feel like we kind of got the best of both worlds: a quiet, relaxing retreat that’s also a quick drive to all of the attractions of Hudson. We hope to return here soon and highly recommend this place!

Dreamy Getaway

This place is pretty much perfect. I stayed here with my family and another family and had a wonderful time. It's secluded enough to feel like a real getaway, but only about 10 minutes to Hudson (and just a bit further to other great towns nearby, like Tivoli, Rhinebeck, Germantown, Millerton, etc). It's super close to tons of hiking (child-friendly and more challenging for adults), great secret swimming holes, beautiful waterfalls, and the Lake Taghkanic Beach. The house itself is airy and large, despite its intimate feel. You can tell the family that lives here has put a lot of love into the design, with tons of personal touches (Those paintings! That clawfoot tub!!!) Kitchen has pretty much everything you would need for people who like to cook, and the farmer's market in Hudson is a great place to shop for local goods. Looking forward to coming back in the winter to do some skiing and cozying up to that wood-burning stove.

Chic & Bright -- Remote enough to be quiet, yet easy access Hudson & surrounds

Modern country vibe -- open, clean and light filled -- very comfortable and private/quiet setting. We loved the decor and the homeowner's artwork (a terrific personal yet aesthetic touch). The house was well equipped and the owner, Myryah, was extremely responsive to all inquiries and very helpful throughout the process. The photos are very representative of the home and furnishings, all in excellent condition and clearly lovingly maintained. Close to the town of Hudson(about a 10 mile drive) for shopping and restaurants but off in the countryside ensuring a quiet setting. I would definitely rent this location again if I return to the Hudson Valley!

We are a family of four: A photographer/painter, an editor who works in the home improvement sector, and two young daughters. We discovered this house after searching every weekend for 2 years while living in Brooklyn. We spent 8 months adding onto the house and renovating the existing space, then lived in the house for a year while furnishing it and making further improvements. We love this house but had to move back to Brooklyn for work and school.

We have grown to love the Hudson Valley, it is full of fun activities, especially the nearby town of Hudson. There is a strong cultural vibe blended with a close knit community of farmers, food artisans and do-it-yourselfers. We are constantly running into interesting folks who have fled the chaos of the city looking for a simpler life, or hard working salt-of-the earth people who have been here for generations.

We get our garden's compost from a local stable that offers rides for the kids. In the summer we frequent farmer's markets and fruit stands and have fun discovering hiking trails and swim holes. We are regulars at the local book store, Spotty Dog Books and Ale, and love to catch shows at Basilica Hudson.

In the fall we bake a lot of pies, there are orchards everywhere. It's also our favorite time of the year because the colors around our house and the valley are gorgeous!

In the winter our oldest daughter learned how to snowboard at the local ski area, Catamount, a 20 minute drive.

These are just a few reasons why we like it here, and we think you will agree it's a special place!
