About this property

Peaceful Lakeside Retreat with Private Frontage & Dock / Acadia Area

35 miles from Acadia National Park, 14 miles to Ellsworth. Enjoy a retreat for a month, week or just a weekend. You’ll experience peace and tranquility in a rustic setting with scenic views of Maine woods and fields on 425 acre Abrams Pond.

This quaint, clean, 1,088 square foot lakefront cabin/home is on a quiet, 1 acre, very private site, with 245 feet of private waterfront. The pond offers great swimming, fishing, and boating. The location is a perfect spot from which to explore Downeast Coastal Maine all while retreating to the seclusion, privacy and nature that Maine has to offer. The camp is easily accessible, 1.3 miles down a well-maintained scenic dirt road. This private road allows for safe walking or biking. The other side of the road offers views and acreage of Downeast Maine blueberry fields, rocks, hills and mountains. Children and non-aggressive pets are always welcome and invited.

On the main level of the cottage you’ll find an open-concept kitchen/dining/living room and full bathroom. The cottage is wooden post and beam construction throughout. You’ll find a fully equipped kitchen, gas range, refrigerator, and Keurig coffeemaker. Upstairs there is a master bedroom with a queen size bed and a loft area with 2 twin beds and sitting area. A futon in the main living area will also sleep 1.

There is a large yard for outdoor recreation, plenty of parking space, a picnic table and wooded fire pit area near the water for roasting hotdogs and s’mores on cooler nights. Or, you can rest in the hammock and read as the wind blows off the water. There are blueberry patches and wild flowers on the property for the picking if you're vacationing during the season. You’ll find a private dock for swimming and boating, 245’ of private water frontage, and an Adirondack double-seater at the water’s edge to enjoy your morning coffee, read a book or observe the duck families swim by.

The camp rental includes a two-seater Old Town “Loon” kayak, paddles and safety jackets for your enjoyment. There is a clothesline to dry wet clothing/towels and coin laundry machines (washer and dryer) on site.

Rental is available May through October. Spring/Summer/Autumn in Maine is a great time for coastal sightseeing and festivals, as well as hiking, camping, boating, swimming, fishing and fall foliage etc. Enjoy nature walks on camp trails nearby; ride/walk the converted railroad by-way down the road; and dine at the local country store. Climb local mountains: Schoodic, Tunk and Catherine. This location is also convenient to Acadia National Park known tourist sites such as Bar Harbor and the untouched/natural sites such as Schoodic Point. Antiques, art galleries, movies, dining and shopping can be found nearby in Ellsworth. And of course, unique Downeast Maine culture, cooking, and seafood can be enjoyed anytime!

This property rents a minimum of 3 days, a week or an entire month. A gas furnace will heat the cottage during the cooler nights or days. The house has an open-covered porch with a barbecue grill which overlooks a wooded water view. There is a shaded picnic table and platform near the water for outside dining or tenting. Views of the water can be seen through tall trees from the windows and doors of the main living/dining area. Skylights and windows are located on both upper-level rooms. Bed linens & some towels are provided for bed, bath and kitchen. Beach towels are also included.

Experience the gentle nightly water breeze and the sounds and sights of black ducks, birds, owls, loons, wildlife, dragonflies, blueberry fields and lightening bugs. Come enjoy our serene Maine property with a friend or your whole family.

Nice Getaway Location
It was a nice spot right by the lake. I wish we could have stayed longer. Well situated for familes or couples wanting to get away from it all. Quiet and secluded.

Family Vacation
The home was exactly as described. Peaceful, quiet and a perfect setting for my outdoorsy family. Our boys (13 & 15) took the John boat out at least 3-4 times per day and caught no less than 10 fish each time out. The ride into Bar Harbor and Acadia was easy and only about 45 minutes from the house. The recommended nearby restaurants were great. The house had everything we needed, beds were comfortable and there was access to Wi-Fi. We would stay again and recommend it to anyone who loves the outdoors.

Heaven on Abrams Pond
This was our fifth year at Camp Milam, and it just gets better. We enjoyed it all - swimming, kayaking, sitting on the porch and reading, cooking in the well-supplied kitchen. I can't say enough about what a wonderful place this is.

We love this cabin!
We had a great stay! The cabin was just as we remembered it and had everything we needed. It’s perfectly located for a trip to Bar Harbor or Acadia, but a short drive later, you can be back at the water’s edge, enjoying a glass of wine and listening to the loons. My teens loved getting out on the pond. Thank you Greg for sharing your wonderful cabin with us.

Eagles, Loons, and Lobster by the fire!
Once again the Milan camp was an amazing place to spend an entire week! This was our second stay which will likely become a yearly favorite. The camp is perfectly located, nestled in the woods just feet from a beautiful pond. Such a great place to unwind and enjoy the surrounding nature. During our visit we saw several loons and a Bald Eagle on a couple occasions. Within an hours drive you can visit Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor as well as many other attractions. Two big thumbs up for this camp!!!

Great vacation property! Owners were so friendly and went out of their way to accommodate us. Kayaking was great on the serene lake, the lunes were fun to listen to and the fall colors were stunning. Enjoyed the rustic cabin, furnished very well with all needed. The fire pit and hammock also got. good rating from us!

A perfect place to unwind…
What a perfect VRBO experience! This rental will allow you the opportunity to spend time on a beautiful, serene and peaceful property. The Milam cabin is cozy, clean, and well furnished with just about anything you could need. The host, Greg, is incredibly accommodating and available at any time for questions or concerns. The hosts truly go out of their way to make your stay extra special- from the delicious treats that await, to the well maintained property, the recommendations of places to eat and visit, and the very helpful notes around the house. The cabin itself feels so comfortable to be in, in every way. The lake is beautiful and serene—our dog loved it here as much as we did. Our only regret is that we weren’t able to stay longer! This was the perfect place to experience some peace and solitude and reconnect to whatever or whomever it may be that you wish to. A wonderful VRBO find!

Lovely pond in Maine
If you like a quiet and serene setting, this is the place for you. We enjoyed kayaking on the pond in the day and watching the sunset in the evening. One afternoon I startled two ducks that were napping on the dock. One flew off to the water but the other just looked my way and then continued to snooze. A few minutes later the mate rejoined on the dock and slept as well. I sat within 6 feet of them and witnessed their duck naps up close. We especially appreciate that our dog got to be with us for a memorable 2 weeks. Also, in terms of creature comforts: the bed was super comfortable and the shower had ample hot water.

Perfect Getaway
We wanted something quiet and off the beaten path from Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor, and this was perfect! The cottage was clean and comfy! Beds were super comfy, and the porch rockers were where we spent a lot of time soaking up the sounds of moose and loons while we relaxed watching the lake. The house had everything we needed, from kitchen supplies to camp wood waiting for us when we arrived. We highly recommend it, and hope to return sometime!

Never wanted to leave!
My husband and I have done a couple VRBO’s, and this place is, by far, the best place we have stayed! It was clean (it even smelled good!), the location is beautiful, and the owners are wonderful people! The master bedroom bed was very comfortable and I loved the skylight above the bed. I really cannot think of anything that we didn’t like about the house and property. It was hard to leave and I wish I was back there!

Best Maine lake cabin
There are not enough superlatives for this property. We have stayed here several times and plan to come next year because it is so perfect. The cabin itself is beautiful and comfortable and very well-supplied. The property around it is a beautiful example of the Maine lake country that we love so much - pines and birches, a lovely slope to the lake, a dock perfect for launching boats and swimmers and for watching the sunset. Chairs are in all the right places - at the lake, by the fire pit, on the porch where us older adults sit and read and gaze at the lakeThe hosts are incredibly welcoming and helpful. You'll come in to a welcoming, clean house and a supply of s'mores making!
