Located in a Historic District on the Slope above Downtown San Diego, this highly upgraded 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom home is the guest house to a beautiful, historically designated Queen Ann Victorian building. No expense was spared in the design of this highly upgraded home which accommodates up to 4 guests. The living area features a leather couch, high ceilings, hardwood floors, LED smart TV, dining table and chairs framed by multiple windows. The kitchen is beautifully designed with granite counters, accent cabinet lights, microwave, gas stove, refrigerator and everything you will need to cook complete meals during your stay with us. The bathroom has high ceilings and is equipped with plenty of towels. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash and a blow dryer are all provided. Both bedrooms feature Queen beds, mirrored closet wardrobe doors, LED Smart TVs, ceiling fans and air conditioners. All beds have memory foam mattresses which are very comfortable. All 3 TV’s have streaming capability. Additional items provided to our guests include beach chairs, beach towels, a boogie board, lighted make-up mirror, an iron and ironing board and a high chair for the little ones. The unit is beautifully decorated with furniture and drapes of modern classic design. The property is located 5 minutes driving distance to the Convention Center, Gas Lamp district, Ball Park, Coronado Island, the Airport, Balboa Park and the Zoo. Freeway access is located around the corner and bus stop transits to and from downtown are located within a block of the property and local beaches are within easy driving distance. Some of Golden Hill’s most popular spots such as the Turf Club, Panchitas Bakery, Luigi's Pizza and Golden Hill Park are within walking distance. Additional features in the common areas include a Barbecue Grill, Gazebo with table and chairs and a Fire Pit with wood provided. Enjoy a morning cup of coffee and city views from the patio table and chairs provided on the front porch. Grill your favorite foods on a gourmet barbecue and relax with dinner under a lighted Gazebo. The house is very clean, it is small but has everything you need, aud it is very centrally located making all of the San Diego attractions minutes away. Parking was not a problem. Our only suggestion is improve the mattresses.

Quick visit on our way to Hawaii

Accommodation was exactly want we were had in mind for our short stay. Clean and equipped as stated. One small thing, the front bedroom was very hard to get around the foot of the bed. I hit my knee on it, so i remedy that problem by putting a pool noodle around it, worked great.

John was amazing. The property is stunning and I would recommend it to anyone traveling to San Diego. Centrally located to downtown, Coronado Island, and multiple parks. Very clean and off the road so very quiet at night.

Guest house in San Diego

This small guest house was ideal for our 12 day vacation in San Diego. Location was perfect for us to walk to seaport village and gaslamp. We even walked to little Italy and balboa park. Otherwise Ubers were quick and reasonably priced for the short distance. The guest house was a private getaway with kitchen set up so that we cooked breakfast every day. We would stay here again and highly recommend it for 3-4 people.

Great location

Great place, well run

We've stayed here a couple of times now. Nice place. Wish it had a parking space, but you can't have everything in life. Owners are great. They let us check out late because they didn't have anyone coming in behind us, and when there was a mix up with the cleaners prior to our arrival, they fixed it asap and comp'ed us the night. Can ask for fairer than that.

Perfect Guesthouse

My family and I were in San Diego to witness my grandson graduating from the Marine’s boot camp. Our experience was absolutely perfect. This property is so cute, immaculately clean, and the beds were comfortable, The owners stayed in contact with us via email making sure we were comfortable and to see if we needed anything. I would definitely recommend staying here!!!!

Great space, even though downtown isn't great

Great space and gave us a short drive to many great places. Plus having a space for our kids was great too. The owners were easy to communicate with and got back to us quickly. We even walked to Petco Park, even though the downtown walk was a little long and had some issues.

Central location

Our place had easy access to all that we wanted to do in San Diego. While the neighborhood may look sketchy, we did not feel unsafe. It was clean upon arrival. We were able to park nearby if parking was not available out front. The bedrooms were small but comfortable. Hot water for all showers and dishwashing was appreciated. Thank you! It appeared as described however the finishings are showing wear (example: rusty soap dispenser, scratched toilet seat, stained microwave. etc.) The water downed detergent and shampoo are silly. It would be better to just not offer it. The quarters for the washer and dryer were a huge bonus and the detailed instructions were thoughtful. Thank you for providing us with a clean and safe place to lay our heads.

Everything was immaculate! We enjoyed this very clean and cozy rental. It had everything we needed and more for our family. We were very impressed and plan to stay here again when we visit San Diego again. It was conveniently located near everything we had planned to do during our vacation. Quite nice

Overall it was lovely. I wouldn’t stay again in the summer unless you’re down to share beds. Only the two bedrooms have air conditioning, and the third bed is in the living room. It was uncomfortably warm trying to sleep in the living room, especially since opening the windows was not an option due to people from other units smoking on the patio right outside the window. Aside from that, would absolutely stay again.

Clean and Comfortable

The property is excellent. Everything we needed was available. They even came by on the same day to refill our soap when it was empty. The property is safe and gated. The outdoor spaces on the porch and the patio were very nice and we used them quite a bit. The location and proximity to everything was wonderful, however the neighborhood (even though the houses are beautiful, well maintained and historic) are surrounded by homeless. Through no fault of the owner, we did not feel comfortable walking around the area very much. I understand that the situation is much improved from previous months and I hope that it is a trend moving in the right direction. If you have a car rental, there was plenty of parking and eliminated the need for walking around the neighborhood.

John’s place was fairly spacious for 2 people and John was easy to get in contact with, which we appreciated. However, we had issues throughout our stay with the wifi - John did try fixing it by resetting it however, it would only work for an hour at a time and then need to be reset again. We did reach out to John to help trouble shoot (and he always responded right away) but after the third day of having the issue just gave up. The street the house is on is also quite loud so you can’t sleep with the windows down. Thankfully the rooms do have AC (which is very loud but helps drown out the street noise).

Clean but bland

The location was central but not the best walking area (at least the immediate area). The busy street is not much of a worry due to the gate around the property (helpful for my kids) and is not overly loud. I would prefer less pot smoking by the neighbors but understand that is not something the property manager/owner can control. The TVs were a little tricky to get to work each time and the decor was a little bland (obviously a rental property and not someone's home) but overall a good stay.

Wonderful San Diego experience

To set the stage for this review, it must be noted that I have the pickiest family in the world. I have a father who is very sensitive to sound, noise level, lighting, everything. I also have a seven year old son… that explains it all right there. My family had the most incredible experience at this rental. The property was so clean, cozy, secure, organized, and welcoming. There was a gorgeous outside table that we could eat dinner around, plenty of space inside for four of us, and all the homey touches we needed. It was in an ideal area, just minutes from gaslamp district and from Balboa Park. John and his team were very responsive and thorough in everything they did. If you are looking for a rental for your vacation I cannot recommend this place enough. Thank you everyone for making this the most reading family vacation we’ve ever taken!

I grew up in Northampton Massachusetts, a town with countless beautiful old homes and lots of woods. I spent countless days in my youth building tree forts never knowing that those 2 dynamics would intersect at this point. Upon arriving in San Diego with an interest in building and purchasing real estate, I became immediately interested in the largely neglected Victorian buildings in this area of town. This property became a labor of love for me many years ago and I hope that legacy will be carried forward by my 3 sons. My wife if Japanese, so our family often divides our time between 2 very different worlds, both with much to offer.
