There is a 6 mile, county maintained gravel road from Victor, CO (CR 86 and a quick left onto CR 861) which takes you to Skagway Reservoir. Prior to the reservoir parking lot you take a dirt road to your right and proceed up steep hill to the property. The road up to the lake house is a steep, gravel/rock road. Perfect hunting cabin

This cabin was such a blessing to come back to after a long day hunting. We got to cook a nice dinner using the well stocked kitchen and then relax in front of the TV and we all had comfortable beds with lots of space for our stuff. Location was so convenient to the reservoir and creek with amazing views. We definitely would stay here again! Thanks so much!

Wonderful Getaway

This property is just as described in the listing - secluded, quiet, and in the mountains. The property was beautiful, seclusion just what one may need, and the amenities were just right. The owners were quick to respond and work with us when if/when we came across an issue or complication. They Even reached out to the housekeeper for NYE activities for our kids when asked. We typically try to find somewhere new each time we travel, but this is most definitely a place I hope to be able to return in the summer.

Mountain Lake House

The lake house cabin was amazing! We had a great time and enjoyed it. No regrets at all. The views were wonderful and exceptional. Any picture or video does do justice to what your eyes can see. However, there are 6 miles of unpaved road before getting to the cabin address and must drive up a steep way to get to the cavin itself so I recommend a 4X4.

Great spot

Property was great. Neat cabin with picture perfect views. Awesome place for retreat or if you want to stay put. We did activities in Manitou Springs, Pikes Peak, Garden of Gods and Old Colorado City. Plan on 1.5 hours each way to reach these spots.

Peace and quiet

If youre looking for nice, modern, yet somewhat remote, this is the place. Some reviews say 4×4 vehicle required, this is not the case, it is on a dirt road and drive is dirt/gravel and some what steep. More than doable.

We enjoyed our time secluded in the mountains. It was nice to explore the property and area and we had a great time at area attractions. We were looking for a quiet spot in the mountains and this cabin was perfect. Thank you!

Ideal secluded getaway

If you are looking for secluded beauty, this is it! While we were there deer and turkeys came by. We sat out on the deck and had the wonderful scenery right in front of us. Only the birds and the Aspens to listen to. The beds were comfy and the furnishings we beautifully decorated. We were sorry to leave so soon.

Picturesque View

Great cabin in the middle of nowhere. If you're looking for privacy with a nice place to fish and watch wildlife this place is for you. If you're wanting to do more touristy things I suggest a place closer to the tourist attractions, ie: Air Force Academy, Pikes Peak, white water rafting, Manitou Springs and such. It's a long drive wherever you go.

Gorgeous!

Our family of 8 LOVED this rental. Very clean inside, well stocked with kitchen supplies, towels and bedding. Breathtaking views and quiet seclusion. The photos don't do the location justice! The un-paved road to the property added to our quest for adventure. We hope to return soon! The owner of the property is very responsive and open to communication. We really appreciate that.

Beautiful vacation home in a breathtaking setting!

My family and I had a wonderful and memorable vacation at the Upper Lake House. We have fond memories of hiking to and around the Skaguay Reservoir. We also soaked up the peace and quiet while relaxing in and around the house. The house was extremely clean and well kept. The beds were of the utmost comfort! The master bedrooms were private and huge. There was ample space for our crew of four adults and four children! Be prepared to travel through the scenic byways and highways to visit some of the major tourist attractions in the area. Thank you, Debbie, for sharing your majestic mountain get away with us!!

Beautiful View

Our family loved our vacation here! The views are beautiful and the house was a perfect size. It was a little far of a drive to town but we loved that it was in the middle of the woods. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Remote Gem!!

The pictures don’t do this home justice. Inside the home is updated and comfortable. Had everything we needed. The views are spectacular. We saw multiple double rainbows in the evenings after rain. We saw lots of wildlife too! The cabin is remote and the driveway is steep. We had no trouble navigating it in our SUV though. Skaguay Reservoir is a great place to fish, swim, and hike. The property itself is fun to explore. We also made the drive to Garden of the Gods, Cave of the Winds, Pike’s Peak, and the Royal Gorge. All wonderful! We also explored the close towns of Victor and Cripple Creek. Lovely people and interesting history! The one negative was the Wi-Fi was spotty which was really only a problem when my husband had to work for a bit here and there. Owners were responsive when we had any questions. Overall we had an amazing trip!

Awesome get away in the Rockies at 9000 feet

The property is secluded, perfect for a relaxing get away. lots of hiking, wildlife very near the cabin (we had 5 -10 deer visit every afternoon). The cabin itself is newer, clean and well stocked. All we had to bring was food (esp coffee); and had every breakfast and dinner at the cabin. Attractions such as Pikes Peak and Garden of the Gods are about 90 minutes away. One note, the cabin is located 5 miles down a roughly paved road - we managed fine in October with a little bit of snow. Having a jeep helped, but most SUVs should be able to navigate. Special recognition to Carolyn; she really saved our vacation following some Air Travel problems.

Great cabin!

The cabin and property were absolutely fantastic. The cabin is very spacious and clean and with a fully stocked kitchen and linens. The furniture was nice (sometimes the furniture in VRBOs are so old and dirty) and the beds were very comfortable. You can tell the property owners put a lot of time and attention to detail for comfort and cleanliness. The WiFi was spotty at best and there was no cell service but I was told they will be changing their carrier soon so it may improve. The drawback for us was that the property is at least an hour away from the nearest town. The roads are very winding and have many winding dirt roads as well which takes a LOT of drive time. The cabin is up a very large hill and was a little difficult to maneuver at times in our rental minivan. We were on this trip for Parent's Weekend at the Air Force Academy and our original VRBO cancelled our reservation 8 days before our trip (with NO REASON) and this was the only availability (and affordable, everything else was $$$$ a night) and is about an hour and 40 minutes from USAFA (could be longer due to weather and traffic). But it is an absolute beautiful property located above a beautiful and clean reservoir that you could bring your paddle board or kayak or fishing gear. It was fun to be so up close to cows and we saw many deer, birds, chipmunks and a coyote, too. I would stay there again if I was looking to be "off the grid" for a while! Excellent property.

Why they chose this property

We bought this house and property due to its proximity to our main house and because of the stunning views of the mountains and the lake. There is, also, a magnificent aspen forest in the back yard. We did a major renovation on the house with new granite countertops, custom cabinets, tile and wood floors, windows and doors. We built a large deck to capture the views. We thoroughly enjoy this property and believe our guests will also.
