About this property

Saint Simons Island Low Country Cottage, Pets Welcome!

Very conveniently located, this low country cottage is perfect for a get away to St. Simons Island. It is a 10 minute bike ride to the Village, the Beach (coast guard station) or Redfern village (home to some of the best restaurants and shopping on the Island). Located in the quietest neighborhood on the south end of St. Simons, it sits on the corner of the oldest road in Georgia; Military Road - the road that General James Oglethorpe used to move his men between Fort Frederica and the southern end of the Island. It is also within an easy walk of bloody marsh where the famous battle of bloody marsh was fought at the tail end of the War of Jenkins Ear. We only accept renters that are 45 days or longer. We also require an adult over 25 in the house. Thanks for understanding.

Nice Place-Great Neighborhood

We enjoyed our stay in the Mastin's house a lot. We would definitely return. Though not fancy, the house is very comfortable and suited our needs. The kicthen is fully functional and the beds really comfortable. There was a nice fenced yard for our dog with a handy hose for washing off sand. There is an iron fire pit there as well as an outdoor shower. A shed offers two loner bikes and space to store your bikes too. The Kelvin Grove community is a great place for kids to bike in minimal traffic. The carport makes unloading in the rain easy and keeps the live oak leaves off the car. It takes 2-3 minutes to drive to the East Beach park. We recommend the house.

Perfect location for enjoying the island.

We loved our stay on the island. The home is in a perfect location for biking and exploring the island. We could bike and walk to the beach and the village. Great hot water and water pressure. Plenty of space for a family. Well stocked kitchen. Loved sitting on the front porch and relaxing. It is an older home but a classic beach cottage that gives you a real taste of living on the island. Will never forget our stay.

Absolute Perfection

This charming cottage was perfect for our needs - moving from California to coastal Georgia and needing a place to stay for more than a month near Richmond Hill. The cottage was perfect in every way - location, space, fenced yard for dogs, covered parking area, bicycles, dishwasher, charming neighborhood with friendly neighbors, etc. We walked to East Beach several times and had the best time walking through the neighborhood. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat and want to thank Pete for making the cottage available for an entire month+. He was extremely easy to contact and work with and our memories of our month on SSI will stay with us forever.

Great place to “live” on SSI!

This is a wonderful place to stay and live for a while on St. Simon’s Island. Pete is a perfect and most helpful host, and the house is in a great location that is accessible to the beach, marsh, shopping, bike trails, and the SSI village. I loved my month here!

Nice placed to spend a month

Loved St Simons, and Pete was a gracious host. The house was a little older but most comfortable and you could not ask for a better host. Pete met us at the house and showed us around and answered every time I texted or emailed. He also made a few suggestions of places to eat that were very good. It's a quite neighbor hood and great for walking the dogs every morning. Our dogs are used to a doggie door and having one with a fenced yard made going away for an afternoon stress free. The location was in the middle of almost everything, from shopping to dining to the beach which was just a short ride away. One of the friendliest places we have visited. Thanks Pete for an enjoyable stay

Lovely house, amazing host

We had an incredible stay in this charming cottage. The pictures really do not do it justice. The house is larger than I expected and has so many delightful little touches that set it apart from the average vacation rental. Although it was just my husband and I, this would be a great neighborhood for a family with kids. There was not much traffic, but there were plenty of friendly neighbors all around. This location is ideal for a family wanting to head to the beach (maybe a 5 minute bike ride, and/or an easy 15-20 minute walk). In the summer, you might consider a golf cart to haul your gear. The proximity to Demere road makes it a quick trip into town for dinner, or across the causeway to Brunswick or Jekyll. The beds in this home were very comfortable. Although the bathrooms are small, there was great water pressure and plenty of hot water. The home was sparkly clean and well stocked with all the items needed for a comfortable stay. The best thing about this rental is the host. Pete contacted us soon after our booking and was delightful to deal with. He offered a lot of insider tips about the island. Because we had a long stay (45 days), he checked in often to make sure that we had everything that we needed. We truly could not have asked for better service. We loved this house and think you will too!

Beautiful home on St. Simons

We spent 3 wonderful months here. The location is absolutely perfect. We would often ride our bikes down to the beach, the pier, or a local park. The house was perfectly cozy and comfortable for us all, even with our 6 kids and dog! We would often go out front to toss a ball around or sit on the patio after dinner and relax. There is also a place to go see the salt marsh, a very close walk away. The kids loved catching the little crabs that would scurry around. The neighborhood is very family friendly and quiet, the kids loved riding their bikes around and it felt very safe. The owners showed true southern hospitality and were so welcoming and accommodating at all times. They went out of their way to make sure our stay was lovely. We will cherish our memories of this house and the incredible summer we stayed on St. Simons Island.
