About this property

Country Home & Studio/Pool House nestled in a 1,000 acre Nature Reserve

“The Creek” is 4 bedroom, three bathroom home nestled on a 6 acre property at the end of a dirt road in the middle of an ancient forest. The home is located in the middle of the well-cared for nature reserve, the Pennypack. At the bottom of the property is a babbling creek with a private beach on the other side of a private island that is great for crystal and rock gathering. Regardless of the time of year you will spend a lot of time outside on one of the 800-mile urban networks of trails connected from the base of the driveway. Our neighbors are four friendly goats and two chickens who appreciate any leftovers. It is cozy in the winter with three large fireplaces and wall to wall sofas perfectly situated in front of a binge-worthy large screen TV and breezy in the summer with multiple outdoor seating areas.

The main house is an up-scale 1960s country home that checks all of the boxes and the pool is adjacent to a studio with its own full bathroom and seating area. Per the photos, the children who reside here have no choice but to share their toys, bikes, pool floats and frog catching equipment with younger renters. We have a basketball hoop that has served plenty of half court games and, more recently, a pseudo pickle ball court on the lower driveway that even the most high maintenance of pickle ball-er approves. The lower field is perfectly flat for soccer and volleyball games (though, the farm animals will watch…and judge).

Peaceful and at one with nature
Great property! It was like staying in your own home, but only if your home was on 1,000 acre nature preserve with a beautiful pool and grounds! Great owners ( who really live there) , great communication throughout. We were warmly welcomed and found the house to have everything we wanted. We would definitely stay here again!

Perfect Home Away from Home
Lauren and Mike were communicative and their homestead was absolutely so wonderful. We had a death in the family and needed a space in the Mont Co./Bucks Co. area for myself, sisters, mother, and spouses. It was the perfect space to reminisce on my late father's life and we are so appreciative they put this wonderful home on VRBO.

Peaceful retreat
This place is located on a beautiful property. Tall trees surround the open fields. Several deer and turkeys visited us. The Pennypack trail system cuts right through the bottom of the property with access to miles of trails. The house feels like you are in the middle of the forest, yet has easy access to restaurants and shops. It was very peaceful to be there.

One of the loveliest homes I have stayed in!
This is a gorgeous home and property. It is well-appointed with beautiful artwork everywhere, but is equally comfortable and welcoming. The overall feeling is one of serenity and peacefulness. We stayed with friends to attend the nearby wedding of the daughter of good friends and it was the perfect setting for a leisurely celebration. I would recommend The Creek House to anyone!

July 4th Weekend
Spent a fabulous July 4th weekend at this sprawling impeccable property. The grounds are amazing, house is well appointed, equipped, clearly a home the owners have put a lot of love into. The pool / studio area is an oasis worthy of any 5 star resort and to sit back and watch the firefly ballet at dusk was simply amazing. Lauren is a gracious host, offering helpful suggestions for local attractions and responsive to queries, she seems delighted her guests have a great experience. Can't wait to return.

Beautiful home and grounds
What a great way to combine the charm of the Pennsylvania outdoors with the depth of Philadelphia's history (historical downtown Philadelphia is only 45 minutes away). Not that we had to leave the house at all - with nature trails, creek walks, the pool and ping pong the kids had to be dragged out of the house to go see Independence Hall and Valley Forge. At night the fireflies lit up the beautifully manicured grounds like a silent fireworks display. We loved every minute of our stay at the Creek House.

Enchanting Property
We had a wonderful time on Lauren’s serene property. It was very easy to leave the world behind once we were pulling up the long driveway. The beds were very comfortable, and the rooms were large. The house was so beautifully decorated. The private grounds were filled with gorgeous flowers and shrubs. Lauren made us feel especially welcome with several vases of her fresh cut flowers throughout the house. We swam and relaxed in the pool everyday. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us.

Magical Friends Stay
We were a group of 6 friends getting together to celebrate a milestone birthday, traveling from NY, NJ and MA. Our hosts were the most wonderful, warm and welcoming family. We honestly can't say enough about their kindness and focus on our comfort, as they shared their very special family gathering place with us. The house itself is stunning, gorgeously decorated, and no comfort has been spared. The kitchen is well-stocked, with all of the supplies needed to prepare group meals. There are multiple places to gather - from a formal dining room to a beautiful, large outdoor table next to the grill. As the weather was hot and beautiful during the day, we spent most of our time at the delightful pool and pool house/studio. The owner has created a bright and lofty painting studio, and in the evening, we enjoyed sitting on the comfortable couches, talking and listening to music, surrounded by the owner's (and grandkids') artwork. We shared snacks, did yoga, and dipped in and out of the warm salt-water pool. We also visited the babbling creek, and fed the adorable goats, and truly felt as if we were a million miles away from our day-to-day. If you have a family or friends' gathering in mind, and are hoping for gracious hosts, a stunning and comfortable home, and a truly relaxed and creative vibe, this is it. We all hope to return soon! Thank you so much for a wonderful (last minute) stay!

Wonderful stay in paradise
I am sorry I am only permitted 5 stars as I would have chosen more. A more beautiful, quiet, bucolic and verdant estate and home have never existed. When you awaken and sit on the quiet front lawn you are looking down a lawn the size of a football field, a lawn manicured as if it was the 18th green at Pebble Beach. Just beyond the end of it is a babbling brook (okay, they call it a creek, but I don’t know the difference between a creek, stream and brook because I am a city guy). While sitting there you will hear only the crickets and birds chirping, and witnesses rabbits and deer grazing. There are no roadways within earshot so it is always ethereally quiet. The home is quaint, well appointed, and has a wonderful living room with a very comfy couch that can perhaps seat ten, a place where you do what you came to do—spending time with loved ones. There are no nearby hotspots or nightclubs as far as I can tell, so everyone stays together, bonding, laughing and making memories. The pool is surrounded by an assortment of flowering bushes and gorgeous trees, and the seemingly new pool house is about 20’ by 30’ (my estimate) and if it were available separately I would buy it and move in. It is on a 1000-acre nature preserve, and you cannot help but feel your anxieties slipping away from the moment you unpack. There is a soaring 100-year old cathedral maybe a 10-minute drive away that is the equal of any in Europe which lends to that feeling of reverence. This edifice is one you should take time to see. There are tours available for free. The hosts are genial and welcoming. They are extraordinarily accomplished in their business lives but exude a down-to-earth warmth, kindness and laughter. They check in to see if you need anything while there, and they give you their number to call. We never had to call them, but Michael, the husband, came by twice to check in with us. The brief time I spent with them was as good as any time spent with family. The opinions I express here are held by the dozen family members who came and stayed for various lengths of time. I heartily recommend this trip into a world of truth and beauty devoid of interruptions and stressors. Ahh.

A Slice of Heaven
We were in search of a quiet, peaceful escape from the city and we got it. The house sits right on the Pennpack trail and is surrounded by beautiful trees and lovely gardens. The house was perfect for our small group (4 adults and a newborn), but might be tight for the allowed occupancy of 8. There is only one en suite bathroom and the other is shared with the three upstairs bedrooms. Not ideal if several couples are sharing the house, but fine for one family. The pool house/studio is gorgeous as are the pool and patio area. The owner was easy to communicate with and when we had a small issue during our stay they resolved it immediately. Between the pool, the fire pit, the large outdoor table and the Adirondack chairs, there are a lot of ways to enjoy the peace and beauty of the property and the surrounding.area. .With direct access to so many trails you can easily explore something new each day of your stay. While the house is elegant and “grand” it is also very comfortable and welcoming. It has a cozy, warm family feel, If you are looking for a quiet, family getaway this is a great option.

Wonderful place to unwind!
My family and I spent a lovely weekend at this home in August 2020. It was the perfect place to meet up and be together after many months apart. The pool is wonderful, the grounds and surrounding trails are lovely, and the house has everything you need to cozy up and relax. Communication, check in, etc. were all on point and the host is welcoming and gracious.

Magnificent house in a beautiful setting
The house is exceptionally beautiful, set on acres of manicured lawns and is carefully landscaped. The house is spacious, tastefully decorated, well stocked, and well organized. There are four bedrooms, and any of them could have been the master. The bathroom on the first floor is part of the master suite. There is a formal living room and a den with a large tv. The pool area is unusually spacious. It is located a few yards from the house, and has a pool house with a rest room, dining table, and living room. The pool is very large for a private pool, and is clean and well stocked with floats and toys. As you exit the property to Creek Rd., you find yourself immediately on a trail in Pennypack Trust, which offers miles of scenic hiking trails, some also allowing bicycles. We spent many hours hiking here and searching for wildlife. We saw beaver, deer, a turkey vulture, and heron; in fact, we saw a magnificent heron at the creek and moments later he (or his twin) visited the pool at the house, walking around before he realized there was nothing to eat there. Luckily we were having coffee on the patio and noticed his head above the hedge! In our years of renting houses, we usually have some problems, resulting from managers not noticing that light bulbs were burned out, or that the batteries in the CO detectors needed changing. This house was perfect: all the lights, appliances, and AV worked; items like the pool light were labelled; clear instructions were left; all the beds were comfortable, including luxurious bed clothes. It was a great experience.

Second stay
This was our second extended family stay at The Creek house. It’s just such a wonderful setting with extraordinary privacy and a comfortable home with interesting statuary and art. Lots of room for gatherings in the living room and family/tv room. This time we had a small catered dinner inside the pool house, which is actually a beautiful, spacious airy modern architect designed studio outfitted with plenty of comfortable seating and a long table at which we easily fit 10 plus a high chair. And if walking/running is your thing, the property abuts the Pennypack creek conservation area with miles of trails including a new gravel trail suitable for bikes. My favorite running spot in the region!

Amazing house in an unreal location
We couldn’t believe you could find a place this nice outside Philly. The house is gracious and very well appointed for ease of living. Family/entertainment room works really well for all ages. The pool is very special and the pool house is actually a comfortable finished studio. The location in a 1000 acre preserve is hard to describe. Just sensational. The owners were incredibly easy to deal with despite my messing up the original reservation. We plan to rent again when we come down to visit extended family. Thank you Lauren for all your patience!

A Homeaway Gem !
We wanted to take our grand daughter to Sesame Place with other family members. The problem is "other family members" includes our dogs :) Lauren is a pleasure to work with, and her pet friendly home in Huntington Valley is only 26 minutes from Sesame. That much we knew in advance. What we were unprepared for was the magnificence of the home (including the impressive artwork) and the majestic beauty of the expansive grounds. The pool and air conditioned pool house were the perfect antidotes for the unusual heat wave affecting the area during our stay. The best part of this location is the adjacent nature reserve. Each day began with a 2 mile walk down the road, past the goats (yes, I said goats), and along the babbling creek with its lush foliage. One constructive comment - The house has great WIFI in the kitchen, with dead spots in the master bedroom and by the pool. This can be solved with an inexpensive upgraded Netgear Orbi router which would cover the entire property. A value added tech plus for this property is the Sonos system which further enhanced our stay. This truly is a Homeaway Gem -only 90 minutes from Northern NJ /NYC and well worth the cost. We look forward to returning!
