General Information.
Guests are welcome to go anywhere in the extensive grounds.The approach to the cottages is down a path beside the main house. On arrival guests are welcome to park nearer the house for unloading but on a daily basis, guests are requested to use the parking bays off the driveway.Local produce can be purchased from a local farm shop. Also Waitrose in Holsworthy will deliver.There are also a number of great eating places locally for fine dining as well as scrumptious cream teas.

Cornwall retreat

We stayed for 10 days, the property has everything you need, and is very well appointed. The host even has fresh flowers placed in all rooms. It is situated between Bude and launceston , which means many places are accessible. The one down side is we struggled to find reasonably near places to eat out, which meant quite a drive to find somewhere. Also due to the time of year several did not open for food Monday and Tuesday.

Penhale

Penhale is a lovely cottage with all the amenities you need. It is set in a beautiful garden with stunning views. The proprietor was friendly and helpful. There was a welcome pack for us and the dog! We had a great peaceful stay and we were lucky enough to have great weather. Would go back and recommend to friends

Fantastic place to stay. Property was amazing, Interior and exterior had everything that you would need. Very clean and tasteful. Peaceful and the views are amazing. Definitely will be going back.

Great dog-friendly spot!

Very comfortable cottage with all amenities. Lovely surroundings with plenty of space to throw a ball for the dog. Very welcoming owner who provides a great book full of ideas and information, catering for different kinds of interests.

Hidden Gem

Penhale was a fabulous dog friendly place to stay. The dogs loved the freedom to walk in the grounds. Even though it is situated out in the country, it was very central to visit nearby beaches and towns. The property was spotlessly clean the decor was beautiful. A lot of thought had gone into it. The welcome afternoon tea , doggy treats and wine was a lovely touch for the start of our holiday. The flowers in each of the rooms was also very thoughtful. David was a perfect host, great communication from start to finish. We will certainly be returning and recommending to friends and family. Thank you for a lovely stay. Carol &Linda

Outstanding Location - Stunning Views

Well-appointed and furnished set in a quiet remote location with stunning views. The beds were super comfortable and everything was extremely clean and well looked after. We loved it here and served well as a base to travel into both North Cornwall and Devon. We will definitely revisit this superb property. highly reccomend

Fantastic stay

We Had the most amazing stay at Tamar Valley cottages! From enquiry through to check out the service received from both David & Rachel was amazing. Upon arrival at the cottage we were met with beautiful fresh flowers throughout the property, a lovely bottle of wine, scones with cream and jam and even some local handmade treats for the doggos, (All very well received after a 5.5hr drive) Penhale cottage itself is very well equipped and immaculately clean throughout. I was pleasantly surprised with the layout and space inside the cottage as well as the outside space available for you and your dogs. With lovely well thought out seating areas dotted around the property there are plenty of places to enjoy the sunshine and spectacular views with a cuppa (or a G&T) Also, if you are an early riser we caught a stunning sunrise whilst enjoying our morning coffee! The location is a fantastic base to explore all the places we had planned to visit whilst in Cornwall but we could have comfortably spent our entire stay in the cottage and grounds as it is just so tranquil and relaxing. Both our girls are in the later years of life at 18 & 13 years old and I have never known them settle somewere that is not home as quickly as they did at Tamar Valley cottages. This holiday provided us with so many precious moments and memories with our Girls. Thank you David and Rachel and we will definitely be returning for another visit 😊

A wonderful stay!

'Penhale' was a joy! Elegant, comfy and a great place to return to after a day of touring the area. 'Tis said that the best things come in small packages! Three of us stayed .. the most important being Elsa, my dog. She was in 'doggie heaven' having complete freedom of the grounds. David was charming and genuinely cares about his guests ... also, he's an interesting chap to talk with. We could have done with more than our one week, but we will definitely be back, hopefully in early Spring. Thank you, David - and your team - for such an enjoyable stay. It was a home-from-home!

Penhale cottage, tamar valley cottages

Property just as described. Peaceful place to relax in lovely surroundings. Spacious grounds for my dog to run around in. Great welcome pack of wine and scones and cream,. Comfy beds. Plenty of beaches Worthing about 10 miles. Recommend Bude sea pool!

Fab week in amazing location

The photos of Penhale do not do the property justice. We found it a real home from home in amazing grounds and the location a short drive to Bude. David welcomed us on arrival and we felt like friends rather than guests. Dug loved his stay too thanks all

Excellent cottage beautiful surroundings. Made to feel very welcome. Flowers in the rooms and lovely scones and cornish cream to welcome us with, lovely gesture. Would definitely stay again.

Excellent few days

We loved the quiet location and access to the varying coastal areas within half hour drive. The bed was very comfy.It was a restful few days for us. Improvements could be made to the living area seating especially if 4 were staying. The air fan in the living area could not be switched off and was noisy. The lights outside our cottage were not working which was treacherous at night. Getting in and out of the shower over bath is not easy and towel rad dangerously hot. Overall a delightful cottage, fresh flowers in rooms were a welcoming touch as was the cream tea.

Penhale

This property was one of the nicest we have stayed in, the listing does not do it justice. The interior of the property has been beautifully thought out and is finished to a high standard. The cottage was extremely clean and welcoming on arrival with fresh flowers in each room. The owner was friendly and very helpful. Would highly recommend this property.

Wonderful

The property is exactly as decribed on the overview , if not better. It was immaculately clean. It had everything you would need for a lovely holiday. The bed was actually the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in, with crisp white sheets and a gorgeous soft duvet. Soft white towels. There was a TV with plenty of channels. The area around the property was immaculately kept and was completely safe for my little dog. The whole property was incredibly tastefully furnished. There was a very sweet gesture left for us on our arrival of wine, milk and cream tea. The owner was completely charming and informative. I would definitely be recommending this property to my family and friends. Didn't want to leave.

Gorgeous cottage, beautifully decorated, incredibly comfortable beds. So dog friendly - every detail was thought of. Loved the welcoming gifts of wine, cream tea and dog biscuits. David was very hospitable and generous with his time. Highly recommended!
