Secure garden and Off road parking for 2 cars. 3 bedrooms - one double, one double plus a single bed and a single room which is downstairs. The bathroom is upstairs. Dishwasher, washing machine, tumble drier, microwave, fridge freezer, electric hob and oven. Television with DVD player, Full central heating and electric log effect fire. Only 2 miles from Whitby and Sandsend. Next to a small Alpaca farm. Open views over farmland. Cot, high chair and stair gates available on request. WiFi connection recently added.

Country comfort
Clean, comfortable, quiet, lovely rural setting. Friendly feline called Lolly likes to come in for a visit. Everything was there we needed, comfy beds, and short drive to Whitby and surrounds. Thank you Pauline!

Very well equipped cottage in a well positioned location. There were 6 of us staying and had plenty of space for us although we were lucky to have great weather so we could use the garden as well. We had a few wi-fi issues in the evenings but

Little weekend break
Just back from a lovely little 2 night stay at Grain Cottage. Beautiful little hideaway with everything you could possibly need. Pauline and Bob are great hosts too, especially giving little meet and greet with the alpacas. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will definitely be back. Thanm you so kuch

I booked the wrong week like a moron. Pauline was still able to accommodate even though I didn’t notice until about noon the day we arrived. It’s a very well done barn conversion. It was great having an enclosed yard for the dog. You can’t beat the price and we even got to feed the alpacas.

Lovely cosy place to stay
This is our second year staying at Christmas. It’s great location for Sandsend and Whitby. The house itself is warm well equipped and spacious for the whole family to stay. We love staying here as a family and will be returning again throughout the year.

Well equipped little cottage
Perfect location for us, the cottage is very well equipped with lots of games and dvds. The garden is enclosed so we weren’t worried about the dog getting out.

Lovely place.
Second visit with my family. The barn is in a quiet location, but only a short walk to the beach. Whitby is only a 15 minute drive. The barn is lovely and plenty of room for a family (4 in ours). The beds are come with fresh bedding.

Idyllic
Beautiful cottage with all essential amenities. Placed in a quiet, exquisite area just outside Newholm. Lovely garden and we were blessed with outstanding weather! Good selection of DVDs, boardgames and beach toys. Owners live next door, not remotely over-bearing, but always happy to help. Nice walk into Whitby and Sandsend. If you can't face the hills on the way home, taxis were all dog friendly we found. Would definitely return again.

Nice comfortable cottage with enough space for a family. Wonderful quiet area but still close to all amenities. Beach very close, the whole countryside is just beautiful. If we went to Yorkshire on holiday again, we would definitely come back here.

Lovely cottage in great location
We had a lovely time in the very clean and well equipped cottage. The setting and garden were lovely, only a mile or so down to the beach at sandsend which was dog friendly even in July. Very convenient for getting into whitby too, Lidl only 5 minutes away by car. Loads to see and do and easy to access coast road to visit other places nearby. Cottage was well equipped for visiting with small children with stair gates, a cot and a high chair. Only downside was very see through blinds on the velux windows in the two upstairs bedrooms, we rigged up some towels to make the rooms darker but there was still quite a lot of light coming through so would bring travel blinds if we came again.

We retired in 2007 and moved to Whitby from Kent. The cottage included a field so we bought 5 alpacas to eat the grass. Alpacas appear to be addictive creatures and we got carried away and now have 20 alpacas and have had to rent more land down the road. We use the fleece to make yarn both handspun and machine spun which is available for sale.
We enjoyed meeting all the guests in Grain Cottage so when it went on sale we decide to buy it and continue to let it as a holiday cottage. After refurbishment we opened for business in July 2016.

Why they chose this property

We live in WheelHouse Cottage which is next door to Grain so when it came up for sale we bought it and continued letting it to holidaymakers.
