About this property

Perfect For ATV, Hiking, Yellowstone Park, Snowmobiling, and Anything Outdoors

D&D Lodge is truly the cabin to rent. With recreation trails for all levels from beginner to advanced. No need to trailer your toys to another parking lot jump on ATV or snowmobile and ride from the front door. Also being close to the reservoir it makes it easy to get the boat or the jet ski's in the water for a day of fun on the lake. Our cabin has WiFi, Dish network, a smart TV so guests can use their own favorite streaming networks, a Sundance Hot Tub, and a Gas Fireplace (no need to work and stock your own fire for the night) The kitchen is very large with plenty of room to cook for an army. The kitchen is open to the dining room and living room that makes everything that much more spacious and allows the feeling of being together while you spend precious time with those who are there. Feel free to relax on 1 of the 4 large decks with rocking chairs and benches already available to you. Fire up the BBQ grill for some yummy steaks, or maybe that fresh catch you pulled in off the rivers. Upstairs has a large open loft area before going into hallway for the bedrooms. Off the loft is a balcony with a great view of all the action up front. This area is also where there are pull out couches and futons for one massive sleepover. It's often a place where the kids like to sleep so they can stay up laughing and having fun while the adults are nestled in their beds in one of the three bedrooms. The hot tub is located in the back yard along with the firepit for more gathering time together. There is an outside camera placed in the back yard and one placed in the front yard. These are used for security purposes, but also they are crucial in monitoring the wildlife in the area to ensure our property is free of any damage or needing repairs from such wildlife. In the winter months, these cameras are also crucial in monitoring the snow levels. As we view the snow, we can monitor when we need to call our snow plowing services. Because this property is a mountain retreat, there has never been A/C in the home. It is only ever warm enough during 3-4 weeks out of the year. We have provided fans in the upper bedrooms in the event that it gets a little too warm. Typically, during those especially warm times of the year, we recommend that you open the windows during the evening as it cools off every night there, and then close up the windows and blinds during the day, especially if you are leaving the cabin to go exploring. Because of the nature of the wooden logs, it keeps things pretty cool and manageable. Thank you for taking the time to look at our posting.

Great cabin and great owner! Highly recommend!

This is a great cabin in a great location, and the owner is incredible to work with. I highly recommend and plan on booking again. Island park is beautiful enough, but this place just made it that much better.

Excellent Cabin

We had a mini family reunion and all met at this cabin. It is a beautiful cabin in a great location. We were about 45 min from Yellowstone, and went to fish and paddleboard in one of the nearby lakes. The cabin has many amenities and their was a grocery store not far for little things we needed. The host was amazing, very quick to reply when needed. I highly recommend this cabin and host!

Home away from home

Property was organized neatly. Directions on what is expected of you. We traveled to Yellowstone daily and returned each evening. State parks and horseback riding available within minutes. Played ping pong each night. Tv and internet worked great during storms. Did not regret staying here as I have regrets on other places in the past.

Overall great stay at this cabin. Whole family enjoyed our time here, everything about the cabin and all it included/had to offer, and the area we were in. Clean, spacious, and nice/communicative host. Would recommend and stay here again in future for another trip to Yellowstone.

Fabulous Place to Stay!!

We had 8 of us staying here for a family vacation to Yellowstone. This cabin was perfect! It is located in a great location and was lovely. We enjoyed the firepit and hot tub, as well. Communicating with Lana was easy and she gave a lot of ideas for things to do and places to go. She was an unexpected boon to our vacation. We also had a little hiccup with the hot tub heating and she had someone come out to fix it in short order. If we ever are back out that way, we would totally stay here again in a heartbeat!! I think her family's vacation home has inspired my brother to build one possibly. We, truly, enjoyed staying here!!

First when we drove up to the cabin, there is a single wide trailer right on the corner. And next door there is a trailer that is trashed and demolished just laying there in the road. You walk into the front door and you run right into a ping pong table that you have to walk around. There’s no air conditioning and in the upper 80’s it gets really hot and stuffy during the day. And at night it’s hot upstairs even with the windows and fans going. The ceiling fan in the living room only stays on low and there is no other fans downstairs. We called and asked for some fans to be delivered and the host responded by telling us to open the windows and we would be fine. That did not help. The windows in the living room were fixed so no circulation in the main area. Plus you have to pay to take the trash off. You have to pay to the dump down the road. Not happy with our stay

Summer Family Trip

We loved this cabin. Everyone loved the hot tub and the table tennis. The host was great. She promptly responded when I emailed with questions. We spend most of our time boating on the lake. Such a nice cabin to come back to!

Maybe I'm too critical - read below for good and bad

Giving this place a generous 4 stars. Honest review now. Plenty of room for our crew of 8 people. Kitchen was well-appointed (less commonly had a flat-top griddle, waffle-maker, insta-pot, and slow-cooker) as well as most spices, and even had coffee. There was a cooler supplied for day trips as well. Many of the knives were not sharp. Beds were comfortable except the top bunk, but my 5 year old didn't complain. Couldn't figure out how to turn up the heat on the hot tub until the last day (LOL). I will mention that the road to the cabin is unpaved (because our friend's car rental was not supposed to drive on unpaved roads - oh well), but the driveway is, and could fit probably 4 cars or more. There is not enough room in the laundry room-bathroom. There were barely enough towels and washcloths for all of us. We had to wash laundry nearly every day and you cannot fully open the dryer door - this is my biggest peeve about the place. It hits the sink cabinet on the opposing wall. We could not find a spigot to top off the water on the hot tub or rinse things off outside. The living room is comfortable for resting in the evenings - really nice reclining sofas. The ping pong table was great for downtime. There is a small backyard area with a firepit which the boys enjoyed building fires. The front door keypad was a little finicky at times. Yellowstone was closed to flooding while we were there which was a huge bummer. We tried to make the most of it, and found other things to do in the area like rent ATVs (many trails all around), Grand Teton NP, Mesa Falls, Craters of the Moon, Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center. Harriman State Park was gorgeous and would be a fantastic place for fly-fishing and they have horseback riding there. Would I stay here again? End of the day, I felt the place was overpriced. I could buy 4700 Hotwheels cars for my boys. The flooding happened within just a couple days of our stay so there was no getting our deposit back or our friends canceling their flights. Next time to Yellowstone we will probably take an RV for just my family. We drove all the way from NC to stay here.

Great large cabin

Our family group of 12 stayed for President’s wknd to snowmobile. We absolutely loved this cabin with so much room! The large loft upstairs was amazing! And the bedrooms upstairs were perfect for the two small families that were with us. A clean working hot tub was greatly appreciated. This cabin has a warm homey feel to it! And there was ample cookware for all our needs which is a nice change, even finding a griddle, which came in so handy. We needed cinnamon, which no one had remembered, and this cabin had some lol. Small thing, but most rentals don’t have those little things. Ample towels and lots of blankets and bedding for our big group was a plus. And we loved that each bedroom had its own heat source too. This is an exceptional rental for sure!!

Winter wonderland hub

Great way to experience the beauty of Island Park winters. Great options for sleeping many. Warm and cozy ambience. Hot tub was a nice addition. We visited following a huge storm so plows were behind, leaving us stuck attempting the driveway. Manager was great at resolving concerns and offering solutions.

Everything we needed for family vacation to Yellowstone/Tetons

Property was clean/welcoming when we arrived for our 8-day family (7) vacation to Yellowstone/Tetons. Best things: kitchen table seating 8 to eat/play games together, hot tub to use when we returned from a day's outing, well furnished kitchen and extra room so we weren't in each others way. It was close enough to get to Yellowstone/Tetons each day. Host Lana was responsive to questions.

Perfect for our family

We stayed here for our bucket list trip to Yellowstone. This cabin was nicer then expected and not too far from Yellowstone’s west entrance. It had everything we needed and then some. The family loved the ping pong table and hot tub. The furniture in the living room was comfortable to lounge on after our long days at the park. I highly recommend this cabin.

An amazing cabin, tons of space, loved the hot tub

We stayed here for a week in August 2020. It was a crazy year with lots of canceled vacation plans. We decided to be socially distant in Idaho. This cabin had everything we needed. The kids loved the Ping Pong table. We soaked in the hot tub every night after long days exploring the area. The grill was great for steaks and burgers. The beds were nice. Loved the animal mounts throughout the house. Definately felt like a hunting cabin. You could tell that this area was all about ATV's and snowmobiles. Yellowstone was approximately 40 minutes away. Jackson was around 2 hours. Make sure you take time to explore Mesa Falls. WOW! It's a hidden gem that would make the front cover of any photo book. We only had 6 people and I can see how this cabin can easily pile in a lot more. The nearest Walmart is just over an hour away, so I'd recommend getting groceries prior to arriving. The store in West Yellowstone is pretty expensive (2X on everything). The owner provided great communication. It's a cabin full of great memories. Go add a couple of your own.

Beautiful Cabin owner needs to be more attentive.

Owner requested for us to phone when we arrived for entry info to get in cabin. Phone call not returned my husband was able to locate key so we did get in to the cabin. Next day owner did text that she forgot to give entry information. When I explain the dishwasher had not been empty and the towels where not washed. She stated she had been there and left the cabin that way. When I pay a 225.00 cleaning fee I expect it to be clean when I arrive and not to start my trip completing someone else work. But the cabin is beautiful and the area amazing just more attention to details and easier entry to the cabin would have made it perfect.

I along with my husband, 5 horses, two dogs, a cat and some chickens, live about an hour from Island Park. We bought this property about 25 years ago and we have spent countless hours hosting guests, youth camps, adventures, family reunions and personal time. We love the area so much and we are excited to provide others the opportunity to experience Island Park even just for a short time and learn to love it like we do.

Why they chose this property

We love the street we live on..it's quiet, we have great neighbors when they are there, and it's in between things that we love to do, which are boating on the reservoir, floating below the dam in tubes, enjoying Mack's Inn and a yearly float hoping to see some wildlife along the way. Also at Mack's Inn, we love their pizza and ice cream and Blue Bird chocolates. And then, of course...we love how close we are to Yellowstone National Park and Mesa Falls. There are so many opportunities to enjoy nature on a hike, a trail, the water, or behind a fishing rod. A short and I might add, BEAUTIFUL, drive to Yellowstone is approximately 45 minutes to the park entrance. Of course, don't forget to allow time exploring West Yellowstone before or after you go through the park. Many hikes and sights are to be had in the nation's largest national park.

What makes this property unique

With it's blue metal roof, it can easily be spotted as you drive up the lane. You will love the open loft for gatherings, you will enjoy the spacious front yard and the space in the back to visit and discuss the events of the next day.
