Captain's Bluff is a newly renovated historical house on the Frederica River. Come and see St. Simons the way it used to be on 18 acres of undeveloped wilderness. There are 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms in this 1800 sf home. Two bedrooms have queen beds with private baths and a third bedroom has a pull out trundle bed that sleeps 2 with a half bath. There is also a sitting room upstairs with a queen sized sleeper sofa. The private dock is on deep water and can accommodate a boat up to 40 feet. Ask about our kayaks and paddleboard. Fort Frederica National Park and Christ Church are within walking distance. Captain's Bluff would be the perfect place for someone wanting to enjoy all that the Golden Isles has to offer.

If you are looking for nature, beautiful night skies and complete solitude this is the property for you. The house is very comfortable and definitely family friendly. Would absolutely stay here again
I cannot put into words what a special place this is. The scenery is amazing and we spent every day fishing off the dock and spending time together. The house was spotless and
This property is about as perfect as it could be - a real gem! Everything in the house was spotlessly clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. You have complete privacy and quiet, but you're not far from shops and restaurants. The river is not great for swimming, but there are kayaks available for exploring, and the ocean beach is just a short drive away. The main attraction for us was the natural beauty of the location. From early mornings watching deer, rabbits, and birds feeding in the spacious backyard, to beautiful evening sunsets on the marsh and river, we thoroughly enjoyed our time.
This property is as advertised. I will say it is better than the pictures. Communication with the host was easy and almost immediate when needed. The location is very quiet and peaceful. We have some amazing pictures and memories of all the sunsets we saw from the dock. Thank you for making it a great week long get-away!
Great house and grounds, great location on the Frederica River, and great if you want your own boat at your doorstep, so to speak. However, all of our group, ages 38 to 65, agree that mattresses are hard and uncomfortable which is the reason for four stars. Mattresses are not a deal breaker and I would return to this lovely property with my own mattress pad for comfortable sleep.
This is the second time staying at one Ben's properties. The first one was The Boathouse and then this one Captains Bluff. You absolutely can do no wrong with booking either one them. What a gorgeous piece of property. We also had the pleasure to meet Phil Allen who has alot of knowledge of St.Simons Island. We can not wait to come back to which ever house we may choose
The sunsets are gorgeous the house is clean and the beds are comfortable what more can you ask for.
My group of friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Captains Bluff. The property was stunning, the house was spacious, cozy and comfortable— we can’t wait to come back!
This was a fantastic place to stay! We had 2 families with 4 kids aged 6-11y/o. There was endless entertainment at the dock and playing tag around the beautiful trees in the yard. They caught shrimp, stingray, shark, eel and all types of other fish including sheepshead. (Fun spot for a cast net). Saw deer and rabbit everyday. Great fire pit. Close location to the Fort. Plenty of space to feel secluded but close drive to downtown with tons of restaurant options. We would definitely stay here again!
This trip gave my family a lot of opportunity to detach from electronics. The kids caught crabs, a shark, went kayaking, rode dirt bikes, went fishing, and had a campfire. The property manager team is helpful. My son left a Nintendo switch at the house and they stored it for me and mailed it back which was very appreciated. Honest folks. A downside is that the deer flies are really bad.
The view and the grounds are amazing. We biked to a few restaurants. Kayaking was very peaceful. And eat before sunset so you can enjoy just sitting on the dock in the evenings.
We loved our stay at Captain’s bluff! This place is amazing as you feel in a well maintained jungle full of wildlife and the water at the end of your backyard. Our son was fishing all day long and catched stingrays, sharks, puffer fish that we released but he had a blast. The beach is 15mins away with the car it was overcrowded so I would not recommend it but we found a better access going a little bit further away from the main public access. The teenagers went to the beach a few hours everyday. You need to walk a bit to access the water. Personally I preferred staying at the house, on the porch or the deck, relaxing and enjoying the beautiful yard or watching the dolphins and kayaking. Overall we had a lovely time in a lovely place.
Very remote and relaxing. Just what we were looking for. The sunsets were amazing and the wildlife; deer, rabbits, and birds made the stay more spectacular. Something you do not get to experience when living in a large city. Thank you.
Absolutely beautiful! Perfect seclusion. The property is stunning. The kids loved watching the birds and deer, making s’mores, fishing off the dock. I loved easy access to the lovely trails around Fort Frederica.
We had fun at the beach and on our day trip to Jekyll Island, but I think our favorite memories were hanging out at the cabin.
My dad and I went down to celebrate his retirement and we had a great time. The home is situated on an incredible lot. It's private and on the marsh. We couldn't have found a better place for what we were looking for. Thank you!
This was our first family trip with 2 kids (age 5 and 2) post COVID, and Captain's Bluff was perfect. Enough space with rooms and bathrooms ideally spaced. Tons of beach toys and tenting stuff in the shed. And the huge private outdoor space with private dock was a bonus. Ben and Jimmy both extremely responsive to boot. Would definitely visit again!
Our family had the best time at this beautiful place! The house was so unique and was well stocked with anything we’d need. We honestly spent most our time out on the dock because it was so convenient and the view was spectacular. We caught many types of fish, the weather was so hot but the breeze coming off the river helped us cool off. The host and overall experience was all around five stars!
We enjoyed our week at Captain's Bluff so much - from fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, and swimming off the dock to roasting marshmallows at the fire pit and watching deer roam the yard as we ate dinner. It's a beautiful house and property! I hope to go back soon - it was a great week for all of us!
