About this property

Authentic Italian house with spectacular views of Lake Como and private parking

Welcome to Casa Fitzcarraldo: our 8 person family house which we (a Dutch family) own and cherish since the year 2000.

The house is over 100 years old and offers a wonderful rustic atmosphere. It lies circa 100 meters above the lake in an old 'borgo' without traffic. The house has modern facilities and provides everything you need. It does have various stairs so is a bit less suitable for guests who have difficulty walking.

Centrepiece of the house is the huge terrace with magnificent views on Lake Como. A long stairway provides direct access to a little beach at the lake.

We have a reserved parking spot at 100 meters distance from the house.

The region around Como has a lot to offer. Enjoy the lake's refreshing water in summer. Visit the many nice villages (also by ferry), the famous Bellagio or the city of Como. You can also drive into the mountains for hiking and beautiful views of the Alps. Of course there are many good Italian restaurants and agriturismos. And cyclists can make fantastic rides and must visit the Madonna del Ghisallo church.

A great stay in an authentic Lake como village
We had a great stay for just about a week in early June. The apartment was great, peaceful and near great outdoors activites for hikes, trail runs etc. Definitely will come again.

Hidden Gem on Lake Como
We loved our stay in Lezzeno. The place exceeded all of our expectations. It was warm and cozy. Well equipped and had tons of character. We loved everything about our stay. Easy lake access, good restaurants, great place to cook in and enjoy the amazing views.

Beautiful house, beautiful neighborhood
We had a lovely stay! However, we did arrive after 20+ hours of travel, not realizing how remote it would be. No chance of finding groceries (thank goodness the local restaurant had a table available and served delicious food, but still nothing for breakfast the next morning- the bakery was closed). We did have difficulty finding it as well, as our phones were not connecting to service properly (completely not their fault- another victim of our long travel day!). Overall, I would highly recommend this beautiful house, but not as the first place you head to after a very long travel day!

Beautiful house and views
Truly enjoyed staying at Casa Fitzcarraldo. All amenities were as described and the lake views are outstanding. Maybe a little tough to find depending on mode of transportation or for travelers not in the best of physical shape. The homeowners were easily accessible to answer questions and their suggestions for touring and restaurants were excellent.

Loved every minute of our stay!
The location is wonderful. We were glad we didn’t stay in Como. Bellagio was wonderful and we loved Crosso del Misto Hotel and Restaurant and pool Just across the street. The house was clean, comfortable and well laid out. It was perfect for 2 couples. I would not recommend for a larger group if you are coming in the summer as the 3rs floor is very warm.

Beautifully renovated home on Lake Como
Our family of 6 loved staying at this renovated home in Lezzeno, on Lake Como. Your leg muscles will get a good workout walking the steps to the lake, but it is absolutely worth it. We used the two red kayaks that came with the home every day and found the kitchen wonderfully full of all the things one needs to cook a meal. Located approximately 15 minutes from Bellagio, we loved the location and the view of the lake is lovely.

The authentic Italian rural experience.
If you want an old home with modern amenities like USB ports to charge your cell phone, a great stove, and large comfortable beds, and an amazing view, this home is for you. It is not an easy stroll to restaurants or grocery, but we did not care. We cooked our own meals every night and sat on the patio to eat and drink wine and stare at the views. The supermarket Migross in Bellagio has great selections of meat and breads, but is not open on Mondays. The small mini market in Lezzeno has a few things in a pinch. You need though to buy dishwasher soap, and shower soap. None was provided. Also buy toilet paper and paper towels. We were out on adventures during the day, and back for the evening. Luckily, we always found a parking space. The bath towels could have been bigger, but showers and toilets worked well. There is a walking path just outside the door that leads to Nesso if you want to hike a little. This wonderful house is rustic and out of town, so a car is necessary. It was our kind of relaxing vacation. The lake was warm but the walk to it and back is not easy. Many steps. Good cardio workout. Our group of two couples would definitely stay again. We love Lake Como.

Wir hatten einen super unkomplizierten und sehr schönen Aufenthalt! Alles super ausgestattet, unkomplizierte Nachbarn. Der Seeblick ist wunderschön und die Terrasse ein Traum. Die Lage ist im Frühling ruhig und sehr schön. Für Aktivitäten war ein Auto nötig. Bäcker ist zu Fuß erreichbar.

Appartement super! Tout était très bien équipé, les espaces sont bien grand, un beau grand salon, une belle cuisine et des chambres très spacieuse! La vue sur le lac est MAGNIFIQUE, se lever et se coucher avec cette vue c’est incroyable. Petit bémol, un peu loin de tout mais bon si on est véhiculé il n’y a pas de problème. Niveau propreté juste beaucoup de toile d’araignée mais dans l’ensemble nous n’avons rien à dire le sol été propre, les sanitaires également.Nous sommes arrivés le soir et nous avons dû chercher un peu mais cela n’a pas été un gros problème! Daniele qui nous a accueilli est une personne très gentil. L’hôte avec qui j’ai pu discuté est une personne très très gentille et super disponible!! La personne a répondu à toute mes questions et super rapidement .. Un grand merci. Il y a des jeux de société et aussi des jouets pour enfant. Cette appartement est vraiment complet.

Sehr schönes Haus...
... In romantischer Lage. Gerne wieder! Wenn man sich auf die Treppen einlässt, bekommt man eine schöne Unterkunft mit sehr schönem Ausblick, gut ausgestatteter Küche, Fahrrädern und Kanus. Kontakt zum Vermieter schnell und freundlich. Für viele Personen empfiehlt es sich, in Como oder Richtung Mailand einzukaufen. Die Fahrt von Como nach Lezzeno ist zwar romantisch, zieht sich aber aufgrund der schmalen Straßen deutlich.

Wunderschöne Aussicht
Wir waren zu fünft und haben uns in der Casa Fitzcaraldo sehr wohl gefühlt. Die hohen und vielen Treppenstufen im Haus sind allerdings für weniger mobile Personen ein Problem. Wer nicht eingeschränkt ist, wird aber gut zurecht kommen.

Fantastischer Blick auf den Comer See in absolut ruhiger Lage
Wir haben eine wundervolle Woche im Fitzcarraldo verbracht. Das Haus ist sehr individuell und gemütlich ausgestattet. Aufgrund des Sommerwetters im Oktober haben wir es fast ausschließlich zum Schlafen genutzt. Die drei Terrassen haben uns begeistert, dort haben wir gegessen, gespielt, gelesen, Prosecco getrunken und einfach den Ausblick genossen. Die Nachbarschaft ist sehr zurückhaltend, diskret und ruhig. Von Lezzeno aus kann man sehr schöne Tagesausflüge machen, um die Gegend zu erkunden. Ein kleines, wenn auch teures Lebensmittelgeschäft mit frischen Backwaren ist fußläufig zu erreichen. Auch das vorhandene Kayak fand großen Anklang bei unseren erwachsenen Kindern. Einziges Manko stellt aus unserer Sicht die Feuchtigkeit im Haus dar. Trotzdem haben wir die Zeit genossen und empfehlen das Fitzcarraldo gern weiter.

Wir (6-köpfige Familie mit 2 Kindern und 2 Teenagern) hatten eine tolle Woche! Der See ist phantastisch und die Umgebung wirklich schön. Der Urlaubsort selbst ist etwas ruhiger als die touristischen Hotspots in der Umgebung. Wir haben das Auto die ganze Woche nicht benutzt, obwohl uns der italienische Nahverkehr Nerven gekostet hat (sowohl Schiff als auch Bus sind ausgefallen oder kamen verspätet). Wir konnten schwimmen, sind Kanu gefahren, waren mit dem Rad unterwegs und sind gewandert. Bellagio ist entzückend, aber im Juli sehr voll. Como ist eine wunderbare Stadt zum Essen gehen und shoppen. Im Haus kämpften wir mit Feuchtigkeit und Ameisen - was dem Gesamterlebnis aber nicht geschadet hat. Unser Tipp: vor dem Einzug nochmal in einem großen Supermarkt (z.B. in Como) einkaufen. Die Tante-Emma-Läden im Ort haben zwar alles nötige, sind aber nicht günstig. Insgesamt auf jeden Fall empfehlenswert!

Toller Blick über den See
2 Wochen im treppenreichen 4stöckigen Haus in autofreier, mindestens genauso treppenreicher Nachbarschaft, mit einmaligem Blick auf den Comer See, und alle haben sich wohl gefühlt. Das Haus war gemütlich, recht sauber, die Küche auch recht gut ausgestattet. Haben von dort direkt mehrere schöne Rennradtouren unternommen, die Uferstraßen sind dafür echt ein Traum! Die nächstgelegenen "Tante-Emma-Läden" haben zwar nahezu alles, sind aber furchtbar teuer. Auch wandern auf der Strada Regia (verläuft genau vor dem Haus) ist gerade mit Kindern sehr abwechslungsreich und schön für alle. Bellagio ist sehr schön, Como ebenfalls einen Ausflug absolut wert.

Schönes altes italienisches Häuschen mit Charme
Wir, 6 Erwachsene (3 Ü60, 3 Ü30) und 2 Kinder (1 1/2 und 3 Jahre) verbrachten eine Woche am Comer See. Familie De Kraa meldete sich regelmäßig via Mail bei mir, gab uns Tipps bezüglich Ausflügen und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten. Die Küche ist gut ausgestattet (3 Dosenöffner (hatte zur Sicherheit meinen eigenen mitgenommen), 1 digitale Waage sowie ein Handmixer sind vorhanden, falls es jemand im Urlaub bräuchte). Selbst eine Kaffeemühle gibt es, die wir auch nutzten. Für die Teeliebhaber steht neuerdings auch eine neue Teekanne zur Verfügung, haben nämlich unsere vergessen 🙈. Sowie Tomatensauce, Pesto, selbstgemachte Marmelade und Apfelmus. Lasst es euch schmecken 😅. Vom Häuschen gelangt man über eine Treppe zum See. Für Menschen, die schlecht zu Fuß sind, eher ungeeignet, für alle anderen ein nettes Workout. Direkt am Haus vorbei, führt ein Wanderweg in das nächste Dörfchen. Viel weiter sind wir leider nicht gekommen, da es in strömen regnete. Ansonsten liegt Lezzeno super, da man mit der Fähre relativ schnell nach Como oder Bellagio fahren kann. Von Como mit dem Zug weiter nach Mailand. Lezzeno selbst ist eher ruhig und klein. Wobei wir aber nur bis zur Fähranlegestelle kamen (mit Kindern ca. 20 - 30 Min zu Fuß). Sowohl das Häuschen, als auch der Urlaub haben uns gefallen. Würden nochmal kommen.
