An unexpected gem on the West coast
The bothan at Polbain was a perfect place to stay to explore the area. The space itself was very well equipped, very private and had stunning views. Would suggest that in the directions to get there that instead of mentioning the old store with a red roof, just say opposite the gallery?!

Great outlook over the Summer Isles
The cottage was well equipped and cozy. A great place to base yourself for a week of exploring the area. The Summer Isles Hotel in Achiltibuie has fantastic meals and the Fish Pie is recommended. The cottage had everything we needed but the comfort of the bed and the lounge were not to our liking.

A lovely place to stay
We liked this house because it had a room with a view on the Summer Isles. We stayed there for one week, made walks, sightseeings by car, a boattrip and so on. We saw Sikadeers and a lot of birds.

Stunning views
Excellent location for exploring the Coigach peninsula. Stunning view from the living room window and you find yourself just sitting looking out at the Summer Isles and soaking it all in. The house itself is well equipped and has everything you need to have an enjoyable stay.

Fabulous home from home in stunning area !
Myself and spouse arrived with our dog in tow looking for some rest with stunning views , we were not disappointed! All you need to bring is your own personal items and food, everything supplied right down to cheese grater and matches. We brought our own towels but they were provided too! Well laid out property, clean with those little personal touches that makes it more like home. Did I mention the views ? From every window you have vistas over the summer isles, just as stated on line ! What wasn’t mentioned was the deer visible down to waters edge, and by deer I mean red deer with Stag, to hear him calling was fab and given we came to get pictures of stags in rutting season well, we were beyond delighted ! We did a couple of day trips , scenery was exceptional and given time of year weather behaved and w asn’t too bad ! Added bonus: no midgies. Special mention to Achiltibuie Stores, very well stocked pricing not that bad and very friendly lady behind till! Ian was an absolute delight, didn’t really see him, but again we didn’t go to be sociable, he explained everything from the wi-fi to power cuts, we didn’t experience any but were more than prepared. If , like us, your looking for a home from home, some rest, time to read, and just forget about everything then come here, cannot rate it high enough ! Thank you so much for having us Ian , hope to be with you again ! Oh and did I mention the views !!!!

If you are looking for a true Scottish highland experience, this cottage is for you!
Ian was an excellent, generous and a very attentive host. The cottage was very well equipped with everything and anything you need and more. The cottage was very clean, tidy and equipped with a lot of amenities. The view is spectacular, perfectly situated for people who love the outdoors. Ian gives plenty of advice and recommendations for activities and things to do in the area and provides a pack with maps and information about the area which was very helpful. There is a lovely restaurant called the "Fuaran Bar" where the staff are so kind and friendly, and the food is phenomenal (especially the steak) and there is also a shop near by that has everything you could need as well as fuel for your car. Lovely cottage, friendly and helpful host, fantastic community and a beautiful view all around you , what more could you ask for?

March break in Scotland
An ideal base for an outdoor break in the West Highlands. The birdwatching from the window was excellent and the antics of the neighbour's Aylesbury ducks always provoked a smile. The view from the decking was magnificent and a great place to sit and enjoy a beer after a day on the hill or the coast. The house was very well equipped with everything you could possibly need and the power shower was brilliant with loads of hot water. All the people we spoke to in the area were very friendly and helpful. We would certainly return for another visit. The local shop was well stocked for a country shop and the fresh salad from Achiltibuie Hydraponics was amazing. Tam Hilditch and Alice

Fantastic escapism
This was a wonderful find. We wanted peace and quiet and got it in abundance. The place is clean and well equipped. The bed was comfortable and very big and the living room had the most fabulous view over the sea to the summer Isles. We spent a lot of time reading and looking at the view which changed as we went through all weathers. The kitchen was well equipped with plenty of crockery and pots and pans and a good sized fridge freezer. The shower was the best I have had for a while. Compact but lashings of hot water and very powerful. There were plenty of heaters to heat the place and lots of spare blankets. It is remote so you need to plan meals in advance and as we were there over new year we had to be organised. There was a lovely decking area to the left of the bothy, not that we used it as it was not the weather. We loved this place. Simple comfortable and warm. We also got 4G on EE and Plusnet!

Great cottage, steps a bit tricky for old people, floppy banister pole a bit of a hazard, well equipped, clean, quiet, really nice. I would recommend for a couple or small family. Host was very kind and welcoming

There is no deck as stated in description. View is spectacular, as described. Heating and lighting very good. Bed is so so, but 2 pillows are not half inch thick. Hangers in closet would be suitable for children’s clothes, but there is no way you could hang adult clothes. Shower stall is tiny. Steps down to cottage are for folks steady on their feet. Living room settee and chairs have seen better days.

Erholung pur

Great location
The cottage itself was fine. The location is great. We had dogs and it was the first garden (We have been staying all over Scotland) that they def couldn't go in unless they were on a lead which was a slight pain but worth it for the area.

It felt like coming home when we returned each evening.
Stayed for two weeks. Not fitted out like a poncey show home, but everything was functional and to hand. Had more than just essentials. You didn't have to look hard to find things as they were intuitively placed. A great place to make your base for excursions into the surrounding splendid countryside. A bonus was that it was in a midge-free area. It was well managed by the owner who lived next door.

Very relaxing place in great countryside.
Ian is a very welcoming host. The cottage had a very relaxing feel and is very comfortable. The views from the cottage are fantastic. If you are looking for a quiet holiday in a remote location (nearest pub and shop are about 40 mins walk and mobile reception is patchy) then this is the place for you. We had a wonderful two weeks there.
