We spent three nights in the Palms Room at Iao Valley Inn and were glad we chose this secluded, tropical, scenic property. Tamara, Bob, and their family are charmingly gracious and welcoming. Our priorities when selecting a place to stay are cleanliness, quiet, and privacy, and the Inn checked all of those boxes. After a full day of exploring Maui, we could relax on our private veranda and fall asleep on a comfortable bed to the soothing sound of rain and/or waterfall. We chose the Palms room because we prefer a shower (bathroom looks newly renovated) and the extra windows, which, with the ceiling fan, provided plenty of cooling breezes in the evening.
Breakfast, provided by Tamara, was filling and delicious, and gave us a good start to our full days. The Inn is centrally located on the island, enabling us to quickly access areas of interest. It is also convenient to grocery and the airport, which is approximately 5 miles and 15 minutes away.
Lush, wild Iao Valley Park is approximately 2 miles away and was our first stop subsequent to check-in. We also drove the Highway to Hana and explored several beaches and towns of Maui including Kapalua, Kahana, and Lahaina and were glad to have the beach towels the owners provided us. For lunch one day, we ate at The Gazebo in Napili and had a delightful, delicious meal overlooking the ocean and the island of Molokai. However, we didn’t have to go far from Iao Valley Inn to enjoy appetizing dining. The owners provide information on many of the local eateries. Saeng Thai’s indoor garden setting and outdoor patio are lovely and the food is very good for the price.
We only wish we could have stayed a little longer and gotten to know the owners (and Mango) better. If we return to Maui, we hope this lovely property will still be available for our stay.
