Nice Quiet Mountain Getaway

Roger has a lovely, secluded mountain home with so many indoor and outdoor comfortable areas. The great room is wonderful for gathering family and guests. The views from the great room and deck are serene. I would like to make a recommendation about placing tempurpedic toppings on the beds for more comfort. The bedrooms are small, but we made it work. Wish there were at least one king bed. We had a lovely time. And my daughters loved the home and nearby hiking.

Thank you for a great home!

Thank you for a great home! Your house is very beautiful! We had an amazing Christmas vacation there. The house was clean, warm, and nicely decorated. My husband didn't find a TV remote in the basement, but that was no big deal.

Awesome mountain view and very comfortable house

This is a great place! Secluded but close enough to everything. The view is beautiful and easy to enjoy on the deck. Despite no A/C, our October stay was enjoyable with the windows open. Kitchen was will stocked with the things we needed and everything was neat and clean. Property owner is very responsive.

Thanksgiving in the Mountains

We enjoyed our stay at Roger's mountain home! The home was convenient to Asheville and the surrounding areas, comfortable and perfect for our family Thanksgiving vacation. Roger was a great host providing information about the home and answering any questions we had promptly. Would highly recommend this beautiful property in the mountains of North Carolina! Thank you again Roger for sharing it with us!

As Advertised

It was a very nice and well kept property. The location is convenient to Biltmore, Asheville and Lake Lure. My all adult family enjoyed the house. The internet speed/reliability wasn’t great but we weren’t there to surf the web and used our cellular connections to check email and Social media.

Ridgeview Retreat

The Ridgeview Retreat is a beautiful property located SE of Asheville. I spent the week there with 3 of my closest HS friends (we graduated in 1979) creating a girls' getaway vacation. We did have a few difficulties when we arrived (AC not working and a blown fuse) but Roger was more than attentive and communicative with these issues. In short, the issues were resolved very quickly and Roger was available immediately for consultation. The location of the property is great for accessing hiking trails and also the downtown Asheville scene. The property has enough room for groups to have common space and also private space. There is a grill (which we didn't use), spices for cooking and plenty of table ware for those who prefer to cook in. The only thing I would say he may need to change is the location of the garbage cans. The cans are located in the bottom of the garage and need to be pulled up a pathway of stone steps. This was not a problem for us but if the people staying there were infirm, that would cause a problem. The beds were comfortable, the TV room was great but we did not use it b/c we spent time away from the residence and playing games when we were there. I think it's great the TV is on the lower level b/c it doesn't become a focus; it opens up more time for conversation and interacting. All in all, we enjoyed our time at Roger's house and would definitely return to it if we decide to vacation in Asheville again (and I think we will bc there is so much to do and we think we only touched the tip of tose things).

Fairview Bliss

All round 5 stars! This home is in a fantastic location, private and just far away enough from the hustle and bustle of Asheville, while still 15 minutes from everything you would need. Would book again and recommend to anyone!

Family Fun in the Mountains

This property was perfect for our family vacation with our adult children and grandchildren. The house was nicely furnished and had a well-equipped kitchen; the views from the deck were stunning; and the location was close enough to Asheville to make for some enjoyable shopping and exploring.. The owner, Roger, was very pleasant to deal with and responded promptly to any messages.

Perfect stay!

The location and house were perfect for our short weekend getaway to Asheville! It is an easy 15-20 min drive into downtown Asheville and you cannot beat the beautiful scenery surrounding the property. Every morning the sunrise took my breath away. Roger was excellent at communicating and was so accommodating. The house was just as described, had great instructions for everything we needed to know (gas logs, heat, trash, etc.), was very clean and was more than enough room for our family of 5. We are so thankful for such a great getaway. My only word of caution would be the internet isn’t the fastest but I think that’s the case for most mountain properties. It works well enough for streaming on the TV so it was fine for us!

Beautiful view

House was great for our stay. It was clean, has a washer & dryer and plenty of pots, pans, silverware and dishes . The downstairs is a great play area. I should have payed more attention to the pictures because my grandsons were 3 and 1 , and we needed baby gates for the stairs. My fault. When I had questions, Roger always got in touch with me within 10 minutes. We had a freak Christmas Eve snow/ice storm and the temperature was 12 degrees, the 2 gas fireplaces were great ! Can't say enough about the view though.

About the host

Hosted by Roger Prevost

Host profile image
I'm a retired residential builder and live in Charleston SC and am happy to divide my time between coastal living and the mountains. I starting coming to Western North Carolina Carolina 25 years ago for motorcycling, contra dancing and exploring. About 15 years ago I started looking at property and it took about 8 years to decide what I wanted in a mountain house and to find the right house. Each Winter, during the off season, I pick an area to remodel and update. In another few years, I'll have just the way I want.

Why they chose this property

Great maintained paved roads, a well run private community and a great view.

What makes this property unique

Quiet mountainside property with nature all around, yet only 20 minutes away from all that Asheville has to offer. Bring your electric vehicle as we now have a 220 volt charging port( adapter required) available to our guests. I recently added a automatic whole house generator that keeps thing running smoothly in the event of power outages
