This is quaint, rustic 3 bedroom/2bathroom retreat in an eclectic neighborhood of second homes for water enthusiasts. The owner/host was accessible and graciously agreed to a late check out when we ran into a time bind. Although the neighborhood is fairly isolated, it is 4 miles or so from an active interstate exit with a Love's and other c-store options for whatever you may have forgotten or if you just dig Love's single serving coffe machines.
The place is an older structure but was decorated very nicely. The beds were incredibly comfortable. Water pressure and amount of hot water available was excellent. Supplies that I I expected to be available were not...no salt, coffee filters or soap in showers. We had a third of a roll of paper towels for a 10 day stay. We had to purchase toilet paper and paper towels as there was an inadequate or nonexistent back up. We had to wash the bathroom rugs because of how dirty they looked. The blow dryer in that bathroom is broken and held together with electrical tape. The worst part is the mildew smell. There were multiple scented plug ins throughout the home but only one had any liquid left in it. The smell is terrible. The road it is located on is challenging particularly at night. If you are looking for lake front activities this is probably a great spot, that was not of interest to us this trip. I had business in both Cookeville and Buffalo Valley, and I expected Baxter to be centrally located. This part of Baxter definitely was not.
Great little place to stay! Frank is really nice..
This place was a great location to Cookville Boat Dock. We took our 5 grandkids ages 3-10 , on their 1st fishing trip, on a Saturday.
House was very nice and clean. Lake is nearby for fishing. Beautiful screened in porch with a fan to be able to enjoy the outdoors with a comfortable breeze.
My uncle came to visit me and we needed a place to stay and do everything we enjoy. We had an amazing time. It was close to everything we needed. Kayaking, fishing, swimming, grilling, and a little needed R&R.
We had a great time at the lake house. Frank was super accommodating with my needs and the house was very clean. Great location and loved being so close to the lake. Would definitely book again.
This house has a nice eclectic style situated in a family-friendly locale. Great location for fishermen and kayakers. Lake swimming unsuitable near boat launch due to heavy rains and rising water during visit. Burgess Falls is beautiful but Window Cliffs was closed due to flooding. Cookeville boat dock is close by and you can rent pontoons and kayaks. It's a very scenic area. Our host was friendly and easily reachable. Only problem was TV remote in back bedroom wasn't working.
This is the second time my family and I have rented this property and we enjoyed it just as much this time around! Even with the heat wave, the porch stayed cool enough in the mornings and evenings to enjoy the beautiful view of the lake! The house was very clean and the owner left plenty of helpful instructions and notes. The neighborhood is very friendly and peaceful and it's an easy drive to Cookeville.
This was our 3rd summer renting Frank's vacation home and we just love it more and more each year. Frank is so easy to rent with, the house is so clean, and the house & location are just perfect for a lakeview vacation rental.
We love & look forward to going back every summer!
My husband & I have stayed here a few times, but this was the first trip there with family. It was a little tight inside for 6 adults, but it worked out just fine.
The house is always very clean and host is very responsive. Absolutely recommend & I hope that we can continue to visit this cozy little cottage in the future. My only suggestion might be a mattress upgrade, but it’s still much better than other places I’ve stayed in the area.
Property was very clean and fits the lake house vibe. Host was very nice and called the day before to make sure i received all the info and or had any questions. Only 2 issues we had which one wasnt really an issue was on the listing description they claimed the cookville boat dock was only 4 miles away and in reality its 14 miles away.... luckly we were able to use the dirt boat ramp below the house because the water was up so high. Next in the listing they claimed that if unable to park vehicles in the driveway, which i had a boat and it stuck out into the road, that we could use the lot next to the house and that turned out to be someone else's property that did not want us to park there for the weekend. Luckily we talked to them and they were nice enough to let us use their driveway beside the lot we were told to use. All in all was a good stay but host may need to change some of the things they claim on the listing.
My family stayed here the last few days and it was absolutely amazing! The house is as great as advertised and was very clean and orderly when we arrived. We spent a lot of time in the screened in porch area listening to the doves and catching up. It was perfect! Definitely will book again in the future!
We had a wonderful time at the house. It was very clean and very convenient to the Cookeville Marina. We will definitely be stay there again. Thank you for your hospitality!!
It was a lovely stay. Clean and cozy and away from all city distractions. The property is just as described. It was just my husband and I with our dog, perfectly comfortable. It was beautiful to see the fog on the lake in the early morning hours and the beautiful sunset in the evening.
