Authentiek

Pleasant holiday dwelling

Wonderful owners, who welcomed us and gave us our privacy. Donky domino is in our kids hearts. The space is light and pleasant, both downstairs (do note the lower beams) and upstairs (which was alway cool — unusual and pleasant for these buildings). Garden provides ample opportunity to catch some sunshine.

The coach house

We had great holiday at the coach house. It provided us with a good base from where we could explore Normandy. An hour from the beaches at deauville and wonderful little towns were within 30 minutes. Kadi was very helpful with tips about restaurants and places to visit. The property had a great open plan living area and the bedrooms upstairs were more than adequate. It had a great enclosed garden for the children to play in and the added bonus of the donkeys in the next plot, the kids loved feeding them carrots every day!

Beautiful character property in rural location

Great communication with English speaking owners who are very friendly and helpful both before we arrived and during our stay. The coach house is beautiful and old with wonky sloping floors upstairs, plenty of space and lovely old beams. Nobody lives in the attached part of the property so we didn’t have to worry about the kids being noisy. We arrived and the kids were straight out into the garden where Domino the donkey came over to greet us with a very quiet attempt at a bray! A lovely welcome! Derek and Domino the donkeys at the bottom of the garden were a massive hit with the kids. The highlight of our daughters holiday was being taken into their field to stroke them! The master, double and twin rooms all have views out towards the donkeys. Very quiet hamlet. Really easy drive from Calais euro tunnel. Roads so quiet and empty. Took us 3 hours 15. There were two tolls both of about 8.5 euros. Machines take cards and are easy to use. On the way home we stopped at Le Crotoy in the Somme bay for our picnic lunch. Pleasant town to stretch our legs, have an ice cream and use the loos. We did a fair few miles in the car during our stay but location of the property meant we could reach the north coast and also Paris. We did day trips to Trueville (lovely sandy beach, 1.5 hrs) Bayeux and Arromamches, (1.5 hrs) Versailles (2 and a quarter hours) , Paris (by train from Bernay takes 1.5 hrs) crevecoeur with medieval joust (45 mins) Book a timed passport ticket if you’re going to Versailles (saved us a massive queue). If you want to go up the Eiffel Tower jump the queue type tickets go on sale something like 5 weeks in advance. Orbec is 15 mins away and has a carrefourre market (middle sized supermarket with petrol opposite) and a high street with several boulangeries and green grocer and small spar. Several shops/ restaurants were shut for their summer holiday. NB Bring a hair dryer if you want one. Restaurants don’t open until 7pm unless you are somewhere very touristy There is no razor socket so bring an extra adapter. Electricity bill wasn’t an issue Had to be out by 10am for cleaner. The Church bells (next to the property) do chime the hour and half past but stop over night so you get a good nights sleep. There’s a green gauge tree with branches that overhang the car park space - yummy!! Saw bats, swallows (lots of other birds) and deer Don’t forget to buy some carrots for the donkeys.

Absolutely perfect !

The property was absolutely perfect for our needs, great layout and good location, Orbec being 10 minutes drive away for all local conveniences. The owners were lovely and more than accommodating during our stay. We had a child's 15th birthday during and Kim was very kind and helpful in liaising with a Boulangerie in Orbec who didn't speak any English, to organise a birthday cake. I will miss waking up and walking into the garden with a coffee to have a chat with Derek the donkey in the adjacent field. Lovely stay, very nice owners, already planning a return trip, what more can I say !! Thank you Kim and Kadi

Comfortable & welcoming

We have just returned after having a wonderful family holiday (seven of us at one point!) in the Coach House. The house is comfortably appointed with adequate parking space, large garden which was wonderful for the kids where they played, kept company with and fed carrots to Thellie the pony and Derek the donkey in the next field. St Aubin is quiet and small, but not too far from the local towns of Orbec and Le Sap for supermarkets, bars and restaurants. Do not forget to visit the excellent market at St Pierre-Sur-Dive open on Mondays. Also Mont Ormel, Bernay, Pegasus bridge and Camembert are all definitely worthy of a visit. The surrounding countryside is pretty and you are not to far from the seaside resorts of Cabourg, Deauville, Trouville and Honfleur. Finally our thanks to our hosts Kim and Kadi for their wonderful hospitality, entertaining and looking after us. We hope one day to return to the Coach House.

Perfect 5 Star Holiday!

We booked our stay at the Coach House for an extended family holiday. The Coach House was a perfect place to stay - peaceful, tranquil and comfortable. The area downstairs was lovely and roomy - plenty of space for us all to hang out in. And we loved the outside area too - again, lots of room for us and the little ones to run around! The highlight for the kids were Derek and Thelly (the donkey and Shetland pony), who were incredibly sweet and just a little bit fond of carrots! The location of the Coach House is great. We spent all week visiting local towns and villages, and had lots of fun at the local markets which owners Kadi and Kim had recommended. The local countryside is really pretty and one of our favourite afternoons was spent splashing in a stream only 10 minutes away We would definitely recommend staying here, and hope to return another time soon.

A great week in lower Normandy

This was our first trip to Normandy. The main purpose of our trip was to fly fish some of the rivers in Lower Normandy, visit the historic Normandy beaches and to relax. We had a terrific time doing all three. The Normandy invasion beaches are about an hour and a half away, so we visited them prior to arriving at the Coach House. The Coach House was exactly what we expected. A terrific personal lodging in a quaint, quiet village. We felt that it was our own Normandy home for the week. Our host, Kadi, whose house is right next to the Coach House saw that we had everything we needed for our stay, including fresh eggs and a bottle of wine upon our arrival. The Coach House has a nice yard behind it, with a patio; very conducive to a late dinner, a bottle of wine and star gazing at night. The location is close to local fishing, beautiful Normandy villages, beautiful countryside and fun local markets. Kadi had arranged for us to fish with Jacky, the president of a local fly fishing club. He was one of the most personable, knowledgeable guides we have met. He even went so far as to invite us to his house for a barbecue one evening. We felt very much at home the entire week and it passed much too quickly. We would definitely recommend this locale and rental for a relaxing get away, whether you are interested in fishing, or just disconnecting from the world for a while.

Excellent Normandy Coach house

Excellent accommodation, large and comfortable coach house. The owners live next door and were very friendly and helpful. Situated in a very peaceful and relaxed hamlet, well positioned to explore Normandy. The four of us spent a very pleasant week here. Would certainly return.

The Coach Hose

The Coach House is situated in the quiet little village of Saint Aubin de Bonneval, approx 10 mins drive thru pretty French countryside to the small town of Orbec. The town offers a selection of shops and restaurants plus a large Supermarket. The cottage itself is rustically charming, offering spacious, comfortable accommation for a family or equally cosy for just a couple. The Master bedroom has a vaulted ceiling and stripped wooden floors. Close neighbours are Derrick the Donkey and Thelly the Shetland pony who will greet you every morning from the ajoining paddock. At the rear of the cottage is a large lawn garden with sun filled patio, equipted with BBQ,ideal for lazy afternoons. The Coach House is ideally situated to explore the delights of Honfleur and Trouville where you can enjoy the freshist of fish and Mussels any way you could think of. Having spent many very enjoyable breaks,at the cottage we only thoroughly recommend it! and intend to spend many more.

Amazing place to stay

We had an OUTSTANDINGLY brilliant time here - we stayed for 2 weeks during the summer (just 2 of us) . The coachouse is kitted out perfectly with several comfy sofas, great open plan kitchen and huge bed in the master bedroom which has a beuatiful vaulted ceiling, 3 other bedrooms all well furnished. 2 shower rooms, very handy! The garden is enclosed and is a good size. We ate outside a lot and used the BBQ to cook up various meats we found in the local markets. The garden has lots of roses and lavender which look pretty. The owners also put a big jug of hydrangeas (and a bottle of wine - THANKS!) in the property just before we arrived, which stayed in bloom throughout our stay. Property is very clean and tidy and everything is in good order. The coachouse comes with a parking space just outside the door, which is a bonus and very convenient. St Aubin is small and quiet, which is exactly what we were looking for. The donkey and the pony in the field next to the garden provided an ample source of amusement for us, and we were often persuaded into handing over 'just one more carrot' !! Other than that the only other passing amusment is the odd local villager wandering past. There is only a very small TV in the coachouse, and it only plays DVDs, you can't get any TV signal. This didn't bother us ONE BIT, as we came loaded with books to read and plenty of conversation to catch up on which we somehow fail to do enough of when we're back home - but thought it should probably be mentioned in case it's a disappointment for anyone else. The local town of Orbec was more than we could have hoped for. it's JUST the right size to provide everything you want on this kind of holiday - 2 supermarkets, a local farmers market weekly and several REALLY good local restaurants, plus an lovely Italian restaurant and several local bars which also serve food. In addition to this, there are several villages within 10 minutes drive which also have excellent restaurants. WE ATE WELL on this holiday - and we're foodies, so finding good restaurants is one of our priorities on a holiday - we weren't diappointed! We visited Monet's house at Giverny (2 hours drive) which I can recommend as one of the most beautiful, peaceful and inspiring places I have ever visited. We also visited Versailles (just over 2 hours drive) which was also impressive in a very different way. LOTS of lovely local towns and villages to explore. Owners live next door + are very friendly and helpful

We (Kim and Kadi) have lived here for 20 years - the Coach House is situated on a land (3 acres) and separated from our own main house. As the name implies, our holiday rental cottage is the original's coach man's house of our 1820's property.

Kim has an antique's business and have a regular presence in the region's markets as well as selling in England. They are always on hand during rental periods to help and advise clients who want to visits the markets.

Kadi has a fishing destination company and has access to all the region's best fishing

Why they chose this property

I'm a keen fly fisherman and I was looking for a lovely property that would offer me good access to region's wonderful trout rivers and one that would suit my wife's requirements of peace and tranquility and enough land for animals; That's how we ended up living in an 1820's with a outbuildings and a Coach House.

What makes this property unique

This property is extremely well maintained and furnished and is ideally situated to take advantage of all the region's best tourist activities. Or or for relaxing and chilling out in a peaceful environment.

The owners are always hand to help and advise if required and home animals are delight for children
